Santa Anita for Sunday 16 Feb 2014

Don't forget that there is racing on Monday.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

1  China Love Girl   good effort 2 back (with a low % grass rider) which was his 2nd out following a layoff.......and much better with the blinkers on (and a stout grass jock) in last........same fits very well......more would be icing on the cake

6  Snaps   solid in last two grass races and his last is somewhat hidden by being involved in a nasty pace duel........and now we get a trainer upgrade

9  Crucero   colt twice was entered for the grass and the races were moved to the main rains in doesn't in Southern California......colt is in top form right now and he is bred well for the grass and he gets one of the top jocks in the USA to ride in Rosario

4  Aqua Revelation

race 2    average clarity

3  Paseo Alegro   very consistent sort.....the kind that often preform well 1st out after a claim by a competent trainer.......which Vann Belvoir surely is

7  Street Car   running lines strongly suggest the abbreviated sprint distance of 5 1/2F will be to his liking......fell off in last 1st out after a claim for a trainer who is struggling trying to break into the SoCal scene.....claimed in the race by a high % trainer 1st out after the claim......rebound can occur.......and the races run 2 - 3 - 4 back all fit

1  Gal Has to Like It   drops from the sky......almost all his races ever run on conventional dirt fit solidly's just a matter of how bad a shape he is in dropping so abruptly here.........toss a coin ( I hate these type in a race)

4  Trulee Scrappin

race 3    average clarity

7  Life Is Joy   horse does well when he has contact to the front end of things and he has enough speed in this spot to be pressing the issue early.....3 for 3 when he has been on or pressing the lead

6  Red Outlaw   done nothing wrong in both lifetime starts on the AW (at GG and Bhp) winning both affairs going away at the wire.....and he owns a decent pedigree for the green carpet

3  Royal Banker   both route grass races run in the good old U S of A fit fine here effort /fig wise ........and he won one of two grass sprints run in Great Britain

2  Gangman Guy

race 4   average clarity

7  On My Honor   nice jock upgrade especially when you consider the apprentice weight break..........most of this fellow's career sprinting fits solidly here including his last two which are somewhat hidden by bad trips........small potatoes trainer but what are the odds that this gelding doesn't fire another race that fits well at today's lowly level

3  Pass The Pico   1st time racing as a gelding and Rosario is willing to ride in a very low level race.......should be a live Peter Miller drop in class runner

4  Awesome Indy   race lacks speed and this Marty Jones six-year-old has some.......Talamo must know how to read the "Form" as he usually sends in these situations......seems like he can be in it from the get go

6  Sheriff Ryan

Long-shot consideration:   9  Causewere Gamblers   best ever was run in 2nd lifetime out after a layoff likely will produce a forward move..........and the blinkers come off for today and a recent much improved 6F drill hints the equipment change might vault this Dominguez runner forward quite a bit

race 5    slightly above average clarity

5  Cherubim   talk about an impressive 1st on the "dirt" wake-up.......good pace and decent final time.........won with a hand ride in the late stages going away from the field........good speed spot here which ought to help him cope with the higher level

6  Kobe's Back   might be the best runner in the field but his off pace style likely will hurt his chances of showing his best as this race lacks speed somewhat.......but then again his trainer John Sadler went from cold to hot seemingly at a flip of a switch

3  Papa Turf   seems likely to get a nice ground saving stalk position behind the 1 and the 5 horse.....not impossible to score if he fires his best and gets the aforementioned trip

race 6   average clarity

8  Autumn View   mare seems at her best with ample time between starts......7 weeks since her last qualifies......never trained better and retains Bejarano.......seems poised for lifetime best in her 1st race as a five-year-old

2  Warren's Cracker   improving with each and every race.......par like race in last in a turf route.......cuts back to a turf sprint for today......most cutting back from turf route to a SA hill turf race handle it

3  Sidepocket Run   has grass efforts that fit and is rather consistent but she sure likes to hang......but Rosario is better at getting "hangers" to win more than any rider I can ever remember

5  Coconut Cream Pie

race 7   average clarity

2  K Thirty Eight   very solid work regiment for this well bred Karen Headley 1st timer showing both speed and endurance in his works.....believe this is a nice runner whether he shows it in his debut or down the road sometime

9  Fifteen Black   Bonde 1ster bombed out at 4 to 5 in his MSW debut last since but training as if he is meant and ready once again.......blinkers on today........might fly early as so many Bonde runners do

10  Antinanco   another Headley runner in this case Bruce Headley that is training well enough that he might be highly competitive in his MSW debut

6  Whine for Wine

race 8    average clarity

7  Bee Brave    the future looks bright for this newbie in the Callaghan barn who just fired an impressive 1st in the USA win following a 1 1/2 year hiatus from racing........seems to have a good shot to make it 3 for 3 lifetime today at a distance that should suite her well

2  Rathbaum   this Peter Miller filly was ultra impressive in her race 2 back and she has showed she can handle the green carpet in her lone race on it....has a shot if she rebounds today and gets a decent trip

8  Flashy Ways   have to like Joel Rosario landing on this Richard Baltas four-year-old filly........hints she might wake up today 3rd out after the layoff.....has back numbers that fit and the 1 1/8th miles should be within her reach

5  Journey On

race 9    slightly below average clarity

12  Capers N Wine   Peter Miller is as dangerous as anyone dropping from MSW to maiden claiming and that is the case today

9  Red Barris     trainer sure could use a winner and maybe this three-year-old filly who will like the cut back in sprint distance can provide that that Talamo remains up following a dull effort for this filly in her last.....rebound?

11  Rambunchkie   last sure looks like a MSW gimme to drop and go in today's maiden claimer.......maneuver makes sense as this filly went for only $19K at sale in June 2013

3  Natal

4  Indian Fields

10  Sunday Stroll
