Thank you.

Very nice card this afternoon being offered at Santa Anita. Handicapping wise I would rate it a 7 on the 1 to 10 scale.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

4  Cause I'm a Bigshot   running today off of two longer races......... the last being a solid 2nd on the grass at 1 1/ ought to be very fit to be able to finish up well at 1 mile.....and......she seems like the controlling speed.....such a deal

6  Famous Alice   done little wrong in 3 lifetime starts all of which were turf sprints......race 2 back is the strongest of the three and it was run off of a 2 month interval between starts........ 2 1/2 months this time around and the works say ready once again

2  Loan Savant   needs a rebound to her winter form and just worked a solid 4F which on paper is easily the best drill she has produced guessed it........winter

race 2    average clarity

6  K Thirty Eight   last on paper looks better than her 1st out which was her debut....but I've got her debut a couple of lengths better than her last which was still par fits.......debut would make her especially tough

1  Next Book   small move forward in last his 2nd lifetime start......and the extra 1/2 furlong this afternoon looks like a plus considering the way this Marty Jones runner ran in the very late stages of both starts

10  Burnaroundtheedges   trainer has struggled in 2014 and isn't that hot with first starters but this three year old 1ster is training far too well to ignore

9  Sir Perservere

race 3    slightly above average clarity

9  Fifteen Black   when Jeff Bonde drops a young horse multiple levels and they train well like this fellow is it is often "go to the bank" time......that seems to be the case here

5  Dead Easy   2 of 3 lifetime sprint races fit fine the question seems to be how ready this fellow is off of the year hiatus from the game...........ran very well in MSW debut back in 2012 and the works seem good enough......60/40 he is meant and ready

2  Kanuck Kowboy   27 to 1 in MSW affair says his debut was a public work-out......blinkers off and the drills are quite a bit better since his debut......seems meant and ready in 2nd lifetime start

10  Boom Boys

race 4    average clarity

4  Halo Dolly   very tough in Cal-bred Stakes races.....and 8 for 10 at the distance on the grass.......that'll the caddies used to say to me at St Andrews and elsewhere in Scotland when I would hit another in play but mediocre tee shot.....hey.......what do they know.........they were 1/2 drunk most the time

2  Unusual Hottie   very consistent grass cutter and seems at her very best running at today's 1 mile turf distance......good post.....good rider/trainer combo........should be a player here

3  Unusual Way   this Mullins five year old feeds on these State-bred Stakes races.......very consistent efforts in all of them.........seems likely to get a nice mid pack ground saving trip at least thru turn 1 and that is 1/2 the battle

6  Journey On

race 5    slightly above average clarity

2  Soi Phet   away for over 4 months but training as if he is ready to roll.....last two efforts at SA are quite strong and his last at today's 1 mile distance is hidden in that he ran somewhat wide a very good rail day

1  Rousing Sermon   quite the work regiment for this Hollendorfer runner......tightly spaced and quite a few works of merit........highly likely to be in the mix for the win by mid stretch

3  Storm Fighter   dangerous today if this colt can run off of a strong effort in last.....big pace and he held together......seems like a shot at wiring and with one of the top speed jocks in the irons

race 6    average clarity

4  It Is Living Water   improving A C Avila four-year-old had a bad trip on the hill running 4 wide and getting blocked a length in the stretch or he would have jock today is an upgrade and a subtle one at that

1  Heat Flash   much better runner in 2014........seems likely to get a ground saving trip starting from the 1 post as he has saved ground starting from the 2 post in his last two starts........should be motoring late

7  Durango Flier   broke slow on the dirt in MSW debut and then showed some life.......went off at 23 to 1 so he most likely was always pointed to today his 1st on the sod and 1st at a route both of which he is nicely bred to handle.....dangerous

2  Duke of Cornwall

race 7    slightly above average clarity

7  Warren's Veneda   very consistent filly on main track since early winter but training exceptionally well........seems very ready and pointed to today's Cal-bred Stakes race

6  Our Pure Creation   filly appears to be peaking at the right time for today's $125K state-bred stakes......reassuring 4F drill since her last which arguably was her lifetime best.......good sign that Bejarano sticks with the Bonde runner

1  Marks Mine   ultra consistent sort ships in from GG......7 for 10 at today's distance......and rider/trainer are 10 for their last 20 as a team.....yikes

2  Could Be Trouble

race 8    slightly below average clarity

6  Volkonsky   steady improvement since Hollendorfer took over the training of this gelding 4 races back.....and his last is disguised by a very wide trip and a steady of a length on turn 1.....and I like that his best fig ever was at today's 1 1/8th distance albeit on a sloppy track not the grass

8  The Mad Hungarian   colt was steadily improving for Hector Palma until he needed a small break in the action.........1st out after the break appears to be a tune-up to be fully ready for today's big race........race two back fits and he had a much less successful rider on his back than he does today in Tyler Baze

3  Awesome Prospect   done little wrong since the blinkers became part of his arsenal 3 races back.........does have something to prove as far as getting the 1 1/8th distance.......bred OK for it

2  Woodman's Luck

Long-shot consideration:   7  Deraptor    much needed tune-up in drill since........finished up fast breaking MSW at GG in April of 2013........might like the 1 1/8th distance and sure is bred decently for the green carpet

race 9    slightly above average clarity

2  Rovenna   one tough cookie since Mike Machowsky saw fit to put the blinkers on his now stout filly 4 races back......and I like that Rovenna is relatively fresh having run only once (on April 5th) since mid February.......owns good early speed and a post conducive to using it

1  Swiss Lake Yodeler   last win (and it was in a $200K state-bred Stakes like today) was the last time this filly ran on a "fast" rated conventional dirt surface.......that was 5 races ago......nice work tab at SA since returning from TP where she fired a clunker on the TP's very goofy AW surface

5  Anniversary Kitty   1st ever on the so pedigree for it.......but she ought to fit if she does take to it.......filly has run better than her (4 1 1 1) lifetime record would indicate

8  Harlington's Rose

race 10    slightly above average clarity

2  Alert Bay   done very little wrong in 6 lifetime starts with 3 wins and 3 close 2nds..........and he sure is bred well for a Cal-bred to get the 1 1/8th offered here which is no easy task for many a Cal-bred three year old in April.......very sharp reassuring (muscle him up) 4F drill on the grass one week ago

6  Tamarando   state-bred colt owns a Grade 1 and a Grade 3 win on the AW......1st on the grass but bred extremely well to take to it...........and he worked a nice 6F on the grass with the dogs up just one week ago.......and one tough rider/trainer combo in Bejarano/Hollendorfer

3  Aotearoa   both lifetime grass races with Lasix fit some here.....blinkers on for today and improved works.......and Smith accepts the mount which supports that this gelding is all set for a what degree seems to be the question mark

8  Patriots Rule

race 11    average clarity

9  D'Obsession   no backing at the windows and dull drills prior to 1st out following the Pederson drills his last was needed and should be ignored (I hope)........full throttle go this afternoon

2  Awesome Indy   late runner likes the rail and seemingly gets some pace up front (and a good post) to put in a nice ground saving late run......another whose last race looks like a public work-out

11  Jovita's Turn   seems to appreciate the conventional dirt surface that SA has to offer......lifetime best by far was the lone time that Maldonado was up running on the dirt......and he is back up today 1st out after the Ellis claim

1  Southern Sunrise

7  No Contingency

8  Aliza's Dream
