Snita Anita for Thursday 1 May 2014

For those of you planning on purchasing our special ($31.50) full card selections for Churchill Downs on Derby Day, May 3rd please don't procrastinate as logistically it makes in easier on yours truly setting up the emails that will be sent at about 6 p.m. central time on Friday night, May 2nd. Thank you.

OK card today. I would rate it a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    slightly above average clarity

8  Wake Up Nick   work regiment says quick early and ready for this O'Neill 1st timer.......quick early is important because post 8 is no bargain in a 4 1/2F race usually.......just bought at sale in March so the connections had a good idea at what they were getting

2  Saturday Yodeler  Harrington 1st timer has hit the track at regular intervals since 22 Feb........mom has tossed 2 winners from 2 starters and both of them were Stakes winners......plenty of potential here and a good post

1  London Legacy   Solis 1st timer is training as if he has some early gas and draws a decent post........pedigree suggests early speed as well

4  Player's Charm

race 2    average clarity

1  Wicked Heart   big awakening in last his 1st ever at route of ground........and the race was eventful in that he had about 6 lengths of trip trouble and still managed 2nd albeit a distant 2nd........should be in it from the get go especially if he breaks cleanly for the 1st time in his 3 race life

5  Roman Tizzy   only older horse in a race full of three year old runners and he is 5.........the old man in the race has run two route races since the blinkers were put on that were small moves forward and fit OK here..........and the improved recent work tab hints another forward move can occur

6  Lay It On   not much in lone race run (a sprint) back in late Feb........but the work tab since hints at much more horse today.....1st speed was put into this gelding....and than endurance........OK pedigree to handle a route

race 3    average clarity

7  Christopher Street   lifetime best (taking into account age) was the only time this Sadler charge ran as far 1 1/8th.....he won in very solid time for a 2 year old.....and handling 1 1/8th at two strongly suggests 1 1/4 will be right up his alley at four.......Sadler has been hot with his grass stock and has teamed up well with Van Dyke of late

2  Boyett   definitely the controlling speed and the controlling speed with Santa Anita's top gun up.......has flatten out some late in all six lifetime grass races........but might not here in this relatively soft looking group

6  Hotradamus   faced too tough in last 1st off of the $50K claim........drops a notch below where Pender and company claimed him for and the trainer is dangerous 2nd start after he takes over the training duties of a given horse by claim or private deal

1  African Oil

race 4    slightly below average clarity

2  Luckbox Sam   has shown he can handle a route on the grass and the AW...........only race ever on the SA main track (a 5 1/2F sprint) was arguably his lifetime best.....so.......lookout today in his 1st route on the SA dirt

8  Tiz Futurity   quite a few in this race don't finish up too well at a mile and a sixteenth or further......but this fellow does......might be the last one standing

7  Old Pueblo   just snatched at the claiming box by Paul Aguirre and he sure has this gelding working better......1st at a route but he looks as if he can open up a lead......and......many a speed sprinter running long for the 1st time ever has done well in 2014 at Santa Anita

3  Northern Force

race 5    average clarity

1  Shapely   nice 2nd in MSW debut in a race run down the SA hill and that is saying something as Ellis has a dismal record (probably by choice) with 1st time starters.........so logically we can expect a solid move forward today as Ellis is stout with 2nd timers........expensive purchase is bred to appreciate a route of ground on the dirt

7  Front Range   bet hard in MSW debut last off of some stellar works......ran fairly well........continues to train well for Baffert and she is bred to run all day so a route ought to be to her liking

3  Thisonesforricky   consistent sort ran her best two races back......not sure if she will produce that effort today but if she does she will be solid in here.......retains Bejarano for the 6th straight race in a row

6  Kool Kat

race 6    average clarity

6  Rhagori   scratched versus tougher (and a bigger purse) for today's softer spot.....both races run in the good old U S of A say that she is the one to beat here.....2 for 2 at today's 1 mile turf distance

5  Scarlet Strike   sure fits if her last was only a public work-out and the fact a router was placed in a 5 1/2F sprint sure points to a gimme.......best on sod and gets back on it this afternoon

1  Kathleen Rose   bit short on numbers but highly likely to sit 1st or 2nd with a ground saving trip.......if the pace is reasonable she might overcome her soft figs and be a player here

8  Buckingham Bull

race 7    average clarity

1  Cause Ur My Babe   hung on for 3rd despite not the best of trips versus tougher in her last.....best lifetime fig earned two races back and it was the only time this three-year-old filly ran at today's 6F distance.....good history back in relatively short rest........26 days since her last qualifies for that

6  Our Glitter Ball   big works prior to her last and she did not disappoint as our top selection at 9 to 1 winning by 3 1/4L...........works since continue to be very impressive.........90% sure the filly moves forward again and maybe in a big way

2  Prayer Be Mine   won MSW debut back in October in a 5 1/2F sprint pounded at the windows to 4-5............bad trip-a-roo in 2nd lifetime start in November at Bhp and still was only beat by 2 1/4L.........training like she is fully ready to roll off of the 5 month layoff and obviously she has proved she can run "fresh"

5  In Dad's Honor

race 8    average clarity

2  Flashy Dame   done little wrong since the blinkers were put on 3 races back (3 1 2 0)...........might peak today running 2nd out off of a layoff and running off of a nice 2nd down the SA hill turf course

8  Joeandbetty'sbaby   very good adjusted for trouble figures versus these in her last 3 one mile grass races.........and her off pace style seems advantageous in this spot loaded with early speed types many of whom have blinkers on for today

5  English Rhythm   seems at her best running one mile on the Santa Anita grass course.......and that is what we have here.....and a rider upgrade

6  Elegant

1  Deity

7  Include The Cat
