Santa Anita selections for Thursday 5 June 2014

Don't miss out on the best card (outside of Breeders Cup Day 2) I can ever remember. Belmont has 6 Grade 1's, 2 Grade 2's, and a Grade 3 on a 13 race card that has impressive large fields)

Cost is $27.50 and the full card selections will be sent in your email about 6 pm central or earlier on Friday.

Decent card at Santa Anita and with a significant pick 6 carryover. Because of the early post on Saturday and the Belmont card starting so early selections for Santa Anita for Saturday will be posted sometime Friday evening.

Best of luck today as always!

race 1    slightly above average clarity

3  Super Defence   working as if she is ready fresh following the extended hiatus from racing.......same as she was last Feb.........ran 2nd in the Feb layoff run at a couple of claiming levels higher......1st at a route but bred OK to handle one and her conditioner is quite good 1st time at a route

5  Soar Home   best ever and slightly better than par was her lone route dirt race 2 back.......back to a dirt route and at a couple of notches less in claiming following a nowhere run 1st on the grass in last........rebound seems likely back running where she is proven

2  Always an Angel   exits a fast heat of MSW runners in what looks like a tune-up........fits well at the mdn 40K level if she runs as well long as she did short in her debut.....OK pedigree for a route .....actually more concerned about her 2% jock up than her ability to go long

race 2    slightly above average clarity

6  Burns Turn   placed up in claiming off of the layoff of 2 months.......down two levels back in 13 days.........last two races running off of short rest were good.....seems like a full throttle go here

3  Thermal Nermal   very consistent grass runner on the Santa turf (5 2 0 3).....last at today's level sure fits and she seems likely to get a nice trip sitting up close and saving some ground

1  Le Fascinator   just snatched at the claiming box by Vann Belvoir and the new trainer might have the trump card for this filly as she just drilled a strong near bullet 5 furlongs.......best listed work she has produced in 2014

race 3    average clarity

6  Heart of Paradise   tightly spaced work regiment and 3 works at today's 5F distance has this filly well prepared for her MSW debut......and.....Hollendorfer knows how to get it done with 2 year old filly 1st timers

2  Bennett Jean   Ted West 1ster was just purchased at sale in March so the connections got a decent indication of what they were getting........solid consecutive gate drills to finish off her decent work tab.......filly seems ready to compete at a high level 1st out of box

1  Meta Mu   another filly who is working as if she can run some......but........Mulhall has only one win in her last 38 1st time starting MSW runners.......still the strong works are hard to ignore

8  Screaming Skyler

race 4    slightly above average clarity

5  Habibi   has been facing better in New Zealand and Australia.........so if she returns reasonably fit off of the 13 month layoff and acclimates to her new environment she should be very tough here

2  Theatre Star   very stout speed type and she is also capable of running just off of the pace......filly has won both of her allowance races.......great shot to make it 3 for 3 in the alw ranks

3  Redressthebalance   last 4 one mile turf races (over a span of 11 months) are rather decent.....just claimed by Papaprodromou who is having one of his best years ever and who has had quite a few runners out running their odds

race 5     average clarity

2  Wine Country Wanda   been slipping a little in her last 3 races but catches a field that is extremely soft....last fits and any rebound will make her awfully tough with an adequate trip

8  Nonna Reese  improving sort and might have considered her as our top pick if it wasn't for a negative rider change.......but like our top pick she might not need her best to handle this weak looking bunch

5  Do It Mobile Style   1st starter is working well enough to be a factor........trainer has done extremely well with limited starters in 2014 but not necessary with debuting maidens......still it seems like a spot screaming for a "new shooter"

4  Italian Harmony

race 6    slightly above average clarity

3  Wonderful Lie   vastly improved runner 1st time at a route on the dirt........tough call on the grass breeding but she should be a ton if she runs as well on it in today's one mile grass race as she did routing on the conventional dirt

2  Tiz a Kiss   monster adjusted for trouble Santucci figs in both lifetime one mile grass races.......would be top choice if I thought she would get even an average trip.....but.......she's one of those turf horse's that is difficult to handle........likes to break slowly - run wide........maybe new trainer and new rider for today can get her to smooth out the kinks

4  Miss Well Molded    consistent grass cutter especially at one mile fell off form some in last and gets a needed break of 2+ months.........new trainer in Peter Miller and Miller has been firing on all cylinders of late

6  Highly Rated

race 7    slightly below average clarity

6  Macias   looks loose here and loose with a good lead jock up in Maldonado......did fall off of form some in latest but recent 7/72 5/8ths drill hints he will make a rebound of sorts today for the Diodoro barn who is having a great year in Az and Ca.

2  Fit to Rule   seems likely to sit in a nice stalking position behind our top pick......just claimed by Peter Miller and it seems like a good one........shooting for a 5th straight win two of which were won stalking the pace

4  When We Met   GG invaders haven't done too bad of late and this recently claimed eight year old can handle the "real dirt" and might be poised for a improved effort 2nd out after the layoff.....and his layoff last was decent

race 8    slightly below average clarity

3  Hobbits Hero   good post......nice stalking the pace style......and he is 2 for 2 on the sod.......seems stout here if he hasn't lost a step but it is a small concern that Mullins drops $10K and/or doesn't give her a shot in an alw race.......60/40 that he is the same horse as her last

5  Photography   nice move forward 2nd out in the good old U S of A and with the blinkers taken off.....ran 2nd to our top pick and with need another move in the right direction if our top pick holds form

7  Number Five   only turf route was arguably his best race of his career and he ran it without Lasix which he has been on since the race........Richard Mandella three year old has some potential to jump forward today

8  Sir Macho

4  Green Tag
