Santa Anita selections for Friday 6 June 2014

Don't miss out on the best card (outside of Breeders Cup Day 2) I can ever remember. Belmont has 6 Grade 1's, 2 Grade 2's, and a Grade 3 on a 13 race card that has impressive large fields)

Cost is $27.50 and the full card selections will be sent in your email about 6 pm central or earlier on Friday.

OK card at Santa Anita. I would rate it a 6 on the 1 to 10 scale. Because of the early post on Saturday and the Belmont card starting so early selections for Santa Anita for Saturday will be posted sometime Friday evening and will include the Belmont Stakes.

Best of luck today as always!

race 1    slightly above average clarity

5  Parada   all three lifetime races with the blinkers off fit solidly versus today's company for this Vann Belvoir runner......a touch concerned that the connections didn't enter for the 25K nw2 level off of her last which was her best ever.......but she can be 90 maybe even 80% of her last and still be a handful here

3  Incredible Journey   has difficulty producing back to back to back good races as so many cheap horse's do but fits well here if she can break the mold today

1  Kid Rollins    improving one baby step at a time.....ran 2nd (beaten 5 1/4L) two races back to a young filly in Silk in Silver who later won by double digits (few have in 2014 in S Cal) at the same condition as today

race 2    average clarity

6  Highway Boss   ran approximately 52:3 and 59:1 in her two lifetime races both at Tup........Tup is often quite fast but I wouldn't bet on anyone in here to run either of those times especially in mid April and early May.......hopefully Van Dyke woke up on the right side of the bed today as he rode uncharacteristically bad yesterday race after race

5  G Q Grace   30 to 1 in 6 horse field in MSW debut suggests the race was a tune-up to drop and go go go today....and the race wasn't that bad

4  Nottemptedbyevil   1ster finished work regiment with 3 straight gate works hinting O'Neal wants his new shooter ready at 1st asking.......seems more of a ? of how much ability he has

7  Aaron's Thunder

race 3    slightly above average clarity

1  Papa's Dancing   on the improve with every start both in final time and pace......in fact set a very stout pace in his last in his 1st ever on the turf which was down the hill......sure looks very loose here 1st time running a route and with one of the better on the lead jocks in S Cal

2  Mindfully   broke slowly and ran wide and still can flying late to almost break her MSW at 1st asking......and her trainer is tougher with 2nd time starters.......would have been top pick if she didn't have to answer two questions.....1st turf.....1st route......good route breeding but only so so turf breeding

4  Peggy's Sue Loose   seems likely to sit in a nice stalk position........and considering she is running 2nd out after a layoff and owns 2 2nd's and 2 3rd's in 4 one mile grass races.........that position seems very dangerous

5  Warren's Jen Fizz

Long-shot consideration:   3  Bea's Bench   OK dirt debut 2 back followed by a not so hot sprint down the hill.....but did finish OK.....trainer is 3 of last 8 1st at a route and 1 of his last 2 2nd out on the sod.....last might have been a public work-out

race 4    average clarity

3  Seeking the Sherif   4th straight race that this improving lead type only likely will get away with a soft pace (considering the level of racing) and be loose and lonely on the lead......and he won his last 3

2  Midnight Transfer   fits well back in an alw race but his off pace profile will make it a difficult task unless there is more pace than I anticipate in this race........2 for 4 at 6 1/2 on the dirt.......2 for 11 at all other distances......so the distance is a plus

5  Castaway   hard to tell how ready this Baffert entry is off of the 10+ month layoff but if he is fully wound up he might find himself in a decent stalk position behind a reasonable set of fractions

race 5    average clarity

5  Susan B Good   wide trip somewhat hides a decent 1st on the turf and 1st at a route in her last her 2nd lifetime start.......good sign she gets out of the claiming ranks and runs in a MSW race......very positive rider change seems like a major plus.....and a much better post to break from

2  Three Blondes   laid up since December but rather sure this mare is ready fresh off off a solid prolonged work regiment.......she owns some solid early foot and looks like she might can loose here

6  Warren's Cracker   got rather good in 2013 in 3rd lifetime start............seems to be improving with each and every start since returning to race wars in Dec following an 8 moth break in the action

3  Jennyway U Want It

race 6    average clarity

6  Watch It Buster   SCRATCHED OUT    so many weaker than normal mdn20K fields the last couple of months and this appears to be another one.......decent works for this 1ster (and a good spot for a new shooter) at LA and Puype is much more dangerous with mc 1st timers than MSW 1st timers

4  Dark Timbers   constantly been ridden by low % raiders......high % jock up finally and this six year old gelding seems to be in the best form of his career

1  Destino   0 for 34 and counting......but not impossible here especially if our top pick isn't as fit as I think or runs greenly

2  Mystique Smile

race 7    slightly below average clarity

2  Warren's Cliff S.   major league wake-up in last which was on 9 May...... and 3 decent and reassuring drills since.....feeling good........same or better seems likely today......hot jock in Trujillo up

4  Fighting On   very consistent sort fits solidly at today's level......but......he sure has a tendency to hang in the stretch.....maybe the change.....in this case blinkers off ........can keep him from hanging

1  Indygo Andy   solid efforts and figs that fit in his last two races both at one mile like today.......would have placed higher if there were more pacesetters in the race as he comes from far back

5  Vibrato Jazz

Long-shot consideration:   7  Shining Son   steady improvement since Richard Baltas took over in early Spring.........very sharp 5/8ths near bullet drill and the step up in claiming strongly suggest this gelding is feeling good

race 8    average clarity

3  Philanderer   Karen Headley can't be taken lightly with maiden claiming 1st timers as she has won 3 of the last 8 she has sent out and ALL 8 have hit the board......and oh yeah.....the works are impressive

9  Antinanco   the Headley's might battle it out for the win as Bruce has a 1st time gelding training as if the minor surgery has done him a world of good.......at least in the racing department

8  Table Twentyone   strong work tab over at Bsr for this Mark Glatt first starter and horses training well at Bsr seem to get ignored some at the windows

6  Off the Deep End

10  Play Maker

7  Onebadshenanigan
