Santa Anita for Friday 20 June 2014

Buyer beware as the last couple of days the betting has been crazy as if someone is messing with the minds of the players or laundering (very hot money) money through the tote system hoping for fresh cash at any return.

Inside speed bias yesterday made for some difficult to have horses and a pick six carryover for today.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

1  Benba   A. C. Avila must have the trump card for this four year old gelding as he is vastly improved since A. C. claimed for $12,500 3 races back.........good post and rider looking to make it 3 solid turf one mile runs in a row

6  Poshsky  very similar to our top selection........two straight improved efforts in a row both since Miller took over the training of this gelding.......would have been top pick if there was more anticipated pace to aid his strong late kick

4  Durango Flier   rather shocking he could break his maiden with the trip he had.........broke a length slow and ran very wide thru-out from the 11 post.......better post today might lead to a much better trip.......fits if he gets a good trip and holds form

race 2  below average clarity

1  Courtside   tepid top pick tossed a clunker in last but it was somewhat overdo and he has a habit of rebounding

5  Pure Sensation   Oakland invader drops some and might have caught a weak group of local $16K runners

2  Pepper Sweet   nice wake-up in latest with the blinkers taken off.......likes the distance......just snatched at the claiming box box by Myadi who is stout 1st out following a claim

race 3    average clarity

2  No Barneys   nice forward move in last somewhat disguised by a wide trip.......much better post to cope with today........should be in the hunt from the get go.........seems likely to get a much better trip

3  He's a Real Keeper   first time gelding today and a good work series bodes well for this fellow's chances of improving.....and I doubt this is a tune-up as his connections most like wouldn't drop in level if it was

5  Yodeling Honey   on the improve with every start......blinkers on and that might help this filly find the front end or at least sit close which often is the route to  victory in cheap mdn claimers

4  Stauffenberg

race 4    average clarity

2  Velvet Mesquite   ultra consistent sort in sprints....and..... the trainer has been red hot of late......last but not least 3 wins in 4 races down the majestic SA hill turf course

1  Timetizyou   becomes very dangerous loose on the lead in turf sprints and might get the front end here

5  Go West Marie   much improved in the the Big Apple since switching to the turf two back......should fit well if this new shooter handles the unusual configuration  of the hill grass course

race 5    slightly below average clarity

2  Bad Read Sanchez   works sure have gotten sharp for this O'Neill 1st timer who finished his work regiment with a blistering bullet 4F gate work......rather sure he is ready and ready with some early speed

6  Social Request   similar to our top pick as this 1st timer of Kitchingman's has also shown steady improvement in the a.m.........just bought in April at sale so the connections pretty much knew what they were buying

5  Bold Bid   expensive purchase in March also seems to working up to snuff to be all set at 1st asking for Peter Miller

3  Masters Circle

race 6    slightly below average clarity

1  Stormberg   blocked badly in last or would have won the May edition of this race........likely finished with something left in the tank for today being blocked and all.......(5 2 1 2) on the hill

6  Royal F J   solid in last two races both down the hill........fits solidly if he can manage a 3rd straight strong effort.......would have put on top if there was more speed in here to aid his mid pack / off pace way of going

3  Rangi   tossed a clunker in last which was his 1st misfire in quite some time......needs a rebound......decent spot for a speed type if he does turn things around

2  Den's Legacy

race 7    average clarity

7  Meringue Pie   already seems to have the best early speed here and now puts the blinkers back on bullet drill hints he has sharpened up.......and sharpened up for a hot trainer in Spawr

3  Goyan    1 for 1 running a route of ground......0 for 7 sprinting.........smartly back to a route........two impressive preparatory works since his last......rebound city

1  Indygo  Andy   maybe the connections were a bit too ambitious after he ran a strong mdn20K 1 1/16th in late Feb........back to a level he should be dangerous

4  Tiz Futurity

race 8    average clarity

2  Smart Journey   been waiting for this Cal-bred to go a route on the grass...... think his pedigree is better long than for short........should be in the hunt from the get go and with a good post to lead to a ground saving trip

3  Chattering Gambler   decent 1st at a route on the grass in his 2nd lifetime start........needs a little more today and his a.m. work hints he will give it

1  Here Comes the Sun   Carla Gaines is the best trainer with debuting MSW runners competing in a route on the grass in their 1st tab is good enough and the pedigree for this 1st timer is very good for the grass

6  Lindante

10  Zim N the Mailman

5  Tuff Storm
