Los Alamitos for Friday 11 July 2014

Difficult card today which might lead to a very significant carryover in the Pick 6 for Saturday. I like both the Saturday and Sunday cards.  Del Mar starts Thursday!

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

1  Afternoon Sun   fits the condition extremely well........away since Nov. but proven "fresh"........and training as if this Glatt runner is meant and ready

3  Electrolyte   doesn't appear to be one of Doug O'Neill's better claims but this isn't exactly the best of fields.......and back to a sprint - where he belongs

4  Aerial Artist   2 for 3 (and a 2nd) on conventional dirt.......2 for 17 on other surfaces........steps up quite a bit but catches a soft field at today's higher level

2  Rosko

race 2   slightly below average clarity

4  Just Call Me Al   Harrington runner has been training exclusively at Lrc since late winter and finally gets to race at "home"......and his recent drills hint at a horse who is peaking and peaking when if counts the in right before a race

5  Valdirone   rather impressive in all 4 lifetime races on the main track......has plenty of early since mid April but is proven "fresh" and retains Talamo for the 7th straight time

1  Bob Consultation   tossed a clunker in last.....fits fine if he manages to rebounds.......50/50 that he can make a rebound

race 3    slightly below average clarity

5  Ten In Excess   plenty to prove running on the dirt.....but........should be very fit running off of 2 solid route races........might be a lead type only (dislikes dirt in face?) but might have enough speed to snatch the lead in this dirt sprint spot

2  Saint Lemone   pulled up in last at GG but.....walked off.........John Martin claimed and he's as good as it gets 1st out after a move (by my book) switching back to a sprint race.....1st on the conventional dirt but I like his pedigree for it

6  Prevaricator   fairly decent work tab for this Eric Kruljac 1st timer and she catches a so so group of competitors

7  Think Again

race 4    slightly below average clarity

1  Naomi's Gift   ran 59:4 in 2nd lifetime start at Tup in early May.....that effort/time for a 2 year old in early May looks solid last might have been a gimme to drop and go 2nd out after the 8 week layoff

2  Freaky Floyd   Tim Yakteen 1ster has been able to hit the track once a week since early Spring and shows a few drills that make him dangerous.......trainer is a solid and dangerous 18% win (last 34) with maiden claiming 1st starters

6  G Q Grace    maiden debut 2 back fits solidly.......2nd out does not.......needs a rebound..........50/50 we get one

3  Outthink'em

race 5    slightly below average clarity

5  It's Aine   very strong effort/fit in last run just 6 days ago.......definitely the one to overcome if this filly can repeat the effort off of such short rest

3  Missy Marini   off since April and returns with a new more accomplished trainer who might have accepted the horse under the condition that they run her where she can win......1st time blinkers and decent drills and drops in class quite a bit

8  Tricky Liz   solid 5 July 4 1/2 5L win on the old turn at Lrc and she showed plenty of early speed.......back in 6 days off of the claim.......dangerous

7  Royaly Dunn

race 6    average clarity

2  Omar Little   fairly easy paced gate to wire win in last in a race run off a 4 month layoff.......retains Talamo........might feel awfully good coming off such a seemingly stress free concern is........only one work showing since the 12 June race

4  Midnight Mayhem   great spot coming off a mdn20K graduation......SA  should consider a nw2 16K race as they often only offer a 12.5K's that or run in the tough starter alw or 25K nw2 which is usually too tough for a maiden 20K graduate.......Dmr does have a 16K nw2 in their 1st cond. book

6  Old Pueblo   toss out last as he faced open 16K runners and a good field of them...... gets 16K nw2 today and a soft group at that.....most of his career fits fine here

7  Tribal Desert

race 7    slightly above average clarity

5  Tacit Approval   two turn sprint at Bsr on the dirt was good and 2 turn route turf race was her 1st two turn route dirt race ought to be a very good thing.......not to mention getting in light at 111 lbs with the hot bug boy up

1  Sheza Eyeopener   vastly improved in last with "blinkers on"......repeat of last might be good this filly muscles up off of the effort she likely would be the one to beat

4  Gelila   best ever was 3rd out after a layoff.....that is the case today and the trainer also has a good history 3rd out following a layoff......Nakatani rides and he hasn't ridden many at the meeting......seems significant

race 8    average clarity

1  Diamante Mobile   very solid work tab for a bottom level filly maiden claiming first timer......both speed and endurance put in by her capable trainer who owns a 26% win percentage for 2014 from 27 starters

3  Cocabella Myst   seems wound up and ready to go with 32 furlongs of work over a period of 31 days to finish up her work regiment

5  Run Rosie Run   big wake up race 2 back......not much in last.....but a rebound seems likely off of a strong 46:4 drill at SA 5 days ago

10  Copper Ore
