Los Alamitos for Sunday 13 July 2014

Nice closing card at the new meeting. Del Mar is next and it doesn't get any better than Del Mar. We will be ready.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

2  Nikki Allyn   bit wide and bumped in the stretch and still managed to graduate by 3 1/4 lengths.....well spotted to win right back in a level (16K nw2) made to order for maiden 20K grads

1  Brandon's Princess    very consistent especially considering the level of racing.......fits if nothing has changed....going for 7th competitive effort in a row

3  Skyrose   exits a slow winning race at GG but it was off of a layoff and the works at Bsr (on dirt) hint he might be better on the "real thing" and that he likely can move forward some 2nd out after the layoff

race 2    average clarity

7  Swiss Heart   solid figs at 6 furlongs or less and retains the hot bug boy in the saddle........and........most importantly probably has never faced an easier bunch

1  Getaway Keys   quite a bit better in 2nd lifetime early gas in the field has a shot at getting loose and going gate to wire in 3rd lifetime start

6  Jo's Approval   works seem good enough to be ready in her maiden debut......trainer has won 2 of his last 10 with maiden claiming 1st timers

2  Afleet Echo

race 3    slightly above average clarity

1  Bad Read Sanchez   won MSW debut at 5F by double digits 3 weeks ago and since that stellar effort he worked a solid 5F drill......feeling good and well prepared to get the extra furlong

4  Story To Tell   solid efforts in both lifetime races and retains Joe Talamo for a 3rd straight time......2 recent reassuring drills.......seems likely to fire another strong effort

2  Wake Up Nick    2 wins in 2 starts but still likely needs 2 or 3 lengths of improvement to take this Stakes race......but then again he has been a "smooth" runner in both lifetime start......a major plus

race 4    average clarity

8  I've Had Enough   nowheresville in debut but blinkers added for today and assuming this gelding worked with them the works sure are vastly improved.....can win this if he runs to works

1  Best Ransom   good rider/trainer combo.......much better runner since the blinkers were added two races back.......seems spotted right in a maiden 20K

2  Shemp   $210K purchase didn't pan out obviously.....but at least he made it to races (many significant purchases never do) seem good enough to compete for the win.......more concerned about the jock who doesn't fair too well maidens

5  Triunfo

Long-shot consideration:   4  Juwan   improved in last and the effort was better than appears in print......back in 10 days and races with 3 lbs. less......fits fine if he moves forward.......65/35 that he does

race 5    slightly above average clarity

4  Fleet Of Gold   faces easier today then what she has been up against especially in her last......seems likely to get a nice mid pack position with Talamo up

1  Halo La   interesting claim of an improving sprinter by N Cal trainer Lage.......likely loose on the lead and that seemingly makes her dangerous in her attempt to get two turns

2  Woody's Wharf   just graduated in her latest her 10th lifetime start.......only 2nd lifetime race on the dirt today and her only run on it was decent and disguised to some degree by a wide trip......and.......with a lessor rider than who is aboard today

race 6    average clarity

6  Lana Caprina   not much in two races last year.....but returns with a work regiment that strongly suggests this filly is returning as a vastly improved individual.......jock Arias has done very well at this short meeting with limited starters

5  Stormin Applause    Koriner 1st timer is working up to snuff to possibly be "meant and ready" in her debut into the wonderful world of thoroughbred racing

3  Covey   Ron Ellis is obviously one heck of a trainer but being ready with 1st timers is not his bag......but.....this filly is working too well to be ignored......mold might be broken here

7  Swiss Intrigue

race 7   slightly above average clarity

2  So You Say   debut is hidden some........broke a little tardy and chased a decent pace wide on a slightly biased rail day at SA.....I love the 6F 112:4 drill since......should be in it from the get go and with that strong 6F drill put in likely to have plenty left for the stretch

6  Don't Blame Me    strong work regiment for this Mulhall 1st timer.......trainer has a low % with MSW 1sters but the a.m. work is too strong to ignore......and......Trujillo/agent have been getting on live horses at this Lrc meeting

5  Sharla Rae   O'Neill 1st timer finished off her work regiment with 3 start gate works hinting the trainer means bizz for debut

7  Midnight Belle

race 8    slightly above average clarity

2  Heart Of Paradise  stellar MSW debut run in very fast time.....powerful drills since......gets Smith to ride.....trainer/jock teamed up for a Grade 2 win yesterday

4  Shh She's Ours   set the nastiest of fractions for a two year old filly and still hung on the win her MSW debut......she can lead here and if Iggy can slow her down just a little.........she...........might.......go........all.......the........way

3  La Grange   good race (at my old stomping grounds) AP but this invader will need quite a bit more and/or love the transition from the AW to the conventional dirt to compete for the top prize here

race 9    average clarity

5  Surfing Angel   solid works for the level for this 1st timer.....normally I would say go to the window but nobody trains them harder in the a.m. than Bruce Headley.......still.......this is a bottom level maiden have to make him top pick-a-rooo

2  Patriotic Lion   0 for 30 and counting.......but solid layoff effort in latest......nice 4F drill since.......good gate horse seems likely to be in the thick of things from the get go

9  Weekendwithbernie   1st timer seems ready off of some tightly spaced drills.....Puype is decent with maiden claiming 1sters and Talamo has been his go to guy of late.......and besides what a great name

7  Takeit Tothe Limit
