Santa Anita for Monday 13 October 2014

Average looking card once again today. Be back with you on Thursday!

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

4  Harlington Night   big effort 2 back......clunker in last.......catches a weak group so if he manages even a 50% rebound he fits solidly

7  Warren's Cole   seemingly in good form.......lone race at today's distance run over ten races ago is decent.....decent trainer/rider combo the last couple of months

6  Usbek Thunder   good history of late back in short rest and that is the case today........jock is struggling a bit but he has looked good on this gelding

1  Tuckers Point

race 2    average clarity

4  Spring Action   drop to mdn40K where he started his career at CD in a dirt sprint.....that race sure fits and the drop out of MSW racing makes good sense

2  Candy Shoes   another dropping out of MSW racing following 2 3rd's and 3 4th's in the MSW ranks........Hollendorfer is stout dropping MSW to maiden claiming

1  Anxious Times    yet another taking the ever dangerous MSW to mc this case the trainer is R Mandella who like Hollendorfer is very successful with such a move

7  Prospector Alley

race 3    below average clarity

2  Nowalking   very sharp right now in the a.m.........Mike Smith moved too early last time.......doubt the Hall of Fame jock will do that again today

6  Opsec   on the right end of the learning curve and the grass race in last seemingly muscled him up as his work regiment since the race hints he is very fit......most likely the fittest of his career

10  J Serino   yet another working awfully well for a MSW and in this case the catalyst appears to be that he is a "1st time gelding"........Cassidy horse's are running much better of late than his record indicates........would have rated higher if he hadn't drawn the outer-most 10 post

5  Day of Fury

race 4    average clarity

4  Clearly Confused   filly does her best running at SA (10 5 3 0) and with today's jock Bejarano on her back.......trainer is off to a decent start at the meeting and in general has had a good 2014

2  Sam's Sister   2 for 2 lifetime with both races being on the AW at at SA and her pedigree both suggest she will make the transition to conventional dirt just fine........decent shot to go 3 for 3 staying undefeated

5  Sudden Sunday   five year old mare appears to be on the rebound and she just worked an eye popping 57:4 bullet work at don't see too many works at SA that break the 58 flat barrier

8  My Sweet Addiction

race 5    average clarity

3  Warren's Purrfect   bad trips in her last two races hide two efforts that are better than par for today's bottom level maiden claiming of 20K.........1st on conventional dirt but her a.m. prowess hints that the new surface won't be a hindrance

2  Ski's Copper Penny   laid up since mid April but drops from MSW to mdn20K and seems well prepared off of some solid tightly spaced interval training put in by D'Amato

8  Rosa Divina   best ever in 4 lifetime endeavors is her lone race at today's somewhat specialty distance of 7F........and her trainer Mike Puype is off to a good start at the Fall SA meeting

4  Smoke 'n' Whiskey

race 6     slightly below average clarity

3  Stylish in Black   2 for 2 on the sod and won both of her turf races going away at the wire in 1 1/16th 1 1/8th on the sod likely will be a good fit........Cal-bred in an open affair but this seems like a soft group.....continues to work as if she has held her good form

6  Remarkable Moon   seems best on the SA grass course and handles 1 1/8th on the grass just rider/trainer combo the last two months (6 4 0 0 )

10  Sweet Tess   a decent 3rd versus better in her last grass run which was 2 races back and at today's 1 1/8th distance.......Carla Gaines runners have been firing better than her recent recard indicates

2  Halljoy

race 7    slightly above average clarity

4  Tizcano   two year old colt crushed his competition in his MSW debut at GP by more than 6 lengths in only a 4 1/2F since 22 June and winds up in S Cal in the Miller barn and the stout trainer seemingly has his newbie wound up and ready to roll

10  Lord Nelson   beat more than 1/2 the field in Grade 1 route race in his last which was run two weeks ago........big 4F near bullet drill for the Baffert colt since........should have plenty of run down the stretch coming off of a route race

2  Sebastian's Heart   two year old gelding was able to break his maiden despite a wide trip pressing the pace.......rider upgrade for today........needs only a small move forward and of course a better trip to upset the apple cart here

6  All Indians

race 8    average clarity

6  Craving Carats   only race ever run down the SA hill grass course fits quite well here........four year old has yet to win for Peter Miller in 4 starts so the drop makes sense to yours truly

5  Too Fast to Pass   claim back by Hollendorfer hit the track in the a.m. 7 days after he claimed him on 10 August and hasn't missed a beat since........all that training (nine works) for a $25K claim suggest the stout trainer has worked out the kinks and has his returnee all set to compete at a high level once again

4  Format V.   seems to be on a rebound........Steven Myadi runner has handled the hill in the past to the tune of 2 wins in 9 runs down the hill......Van Dyke and his weight break have been a bargain most of the time in races on the hill

9  Exotic Slew

Long-shot consideration:   7 Qatar's Pearl   claimed by Bernstein in his last and he sure appears to have the trump card for this gelding as he got him to work a bullet 5F drill seemingly out of nowhere........and his new runner has some back numbers on the grass that fit at today's level

race 9    slightly above average clarity

2  Wade   bad trips in both lifetime races.......bad trip in debut was obvious......bad trip in 2nd lifetime race not so obvious ........dueled in solid fractions on a dull inside...........rider upgrade for today to Bejarano......1st on conventional dirt is a small question mark

11  Forest Chatter   useful debut for this Richard Mandella three year old gelding and the works since hint much more will occur this afternoon

6  Bitter Heat   nice forward move in 2nd lifetime start both in pace and final time.......if he manages to move forward once again in start number 3 he likely will be in the hunt for the lone diploma (unless of course a dead heat occurs)

8  Fort Caddy

9  A Black Tie Crypto

1  Diablo Caballero
