Santa Anita for Thursday 30 October 2014

Selections for today's card are from David Gordon our more than capable assistant handicapper who had the $97.20 $29.20 $20.80 winner of yesterday's last race as his 2nd selection.

Race 1      Average Clarity
4 - Cat Meeting - Showed improved pace in last, should have plenty of speed to run at
3 - Rusty Road - Clunker in last but appears to be an every other type, race 2 back would be tough to beat
1 - Counting Days

Race 2      Average Clarity
7 - Newfound Gold - Old timer just keeps on rolling, should be prominent all the way
3 - Muchos Besos - Was going good until that last race, time off plus a huge work last week equals surprise package
5 - Bob Consultation - Been training steadily for a return to the oval of all his wins, shot
2 - Qatar's Pearl

Race 3       Below Average Clarity
2 - Athens - Tough to win 1st out against winners but rates to get a similar trip to last
3 - Kings Adventure - Insane pace in last, catch me if you can, dirt a ?
10 - Raspberry Ala Mode - Freaked in last, just wonder how much it took out of him
4 - Coyotero

Race 4      Average Clarity
2 - Curlin Iron - Both starts better than they look, should relish the added distance
8 - Awesome Time - Baze appears to have had numerous choices and lands here, box to wire potential
7 - Deep Digger - Dirt and class relief may be just what he needs
9 - Feed the Fire
LONGSHOT - 1 - Unusual Don - Comebacker after a year filled with trouble, has shown some prior speed which should be valuable here

Race 5      Slightly Above Average Clarity
3 - Puttybadshark - Trainer is dynamite off the claim and brings his main boy in to ride
11 - Rossi Reserve - Drops off a big win and 7 month layoff, is he ready? flip a coin
4 - Glorious Rebecca - Returns to win level and rates to get a good stalking trip
2 - Jetbird
LONGSHOT - 6 - Courageousandbold - Showed some life in troubled last, has past local figs that would fit well

Race 6      Average Clarity
6 - Scattagirl - Long, steady work series for this well bred turfer, Raffy takes the call
5 - Erte - Like the two 6F works followed by the 3F blowout, another extremely well bred turfer
8 - Jaded Glory - Looks to have the best overall works, Proctor due for a winner
10 - Lakwani

Race 7      Slightly Above Average Clarity
2 - Pressure Time - Ran a strong adjusted fig in last, will be tough if he can get a clean break
7 - Sonicvelocity - Hasn't been on fast dirt since his career best debut, showed life in last
13 - Newport Red - Owns a win at the track and trip 2nd off a layoff, 2nd off a layoff today....hmmm
1 - Mahalo Arturo

Race 8      Average Clarity
2 - Sweet Sunshine - Improving 4 year old scratched from a good spot yesterday to land here, upset special
8 - Regally Ready - Win machine just keeps on truckin', tactical speed to run any kind of race he needs
6 - Stryker Phd - Out to prove he can run outside EMD, I think he can
7 - Blue Tone

Race 9      Slightly Above Average Clarity
5 - Home Journey - Layoff effort better than it looks, lone turf try fits, Smith will take them a long way
4 - Kool Kat - Showed she could handle the goofy distance and that's half the battle, may get speed duel she needs
9 - Not too Shiny - 2 spring hill trips produced figs that fit, training well since last
1 - Go West Marie
LONGSHOT - 3 - Camryn Kate - Obvious health issues but training as if she is feeling good, hill figs are best in field

Race 10      Average Clarity
12 - Kat's Hurricane - Ran big in debut, training ok and a major jock upgrade
2 - Gold Journey - Looks like Walsh may have found the key as works are vastly improved
8 - Diamond Cut - Like the work longer than the race, Machowsky solid in all the relevant categories
1 - Scatajawea
9 - I'll Tell You What
4 - Tribal Express
