Del Mar for Saturday 15 November 2014

Inside speed has been king so far this week (and also last Saturday) on the main track so I did lean that way somewhat for today. So so card for today but tomorrows sure appears awfully good with multiple races rated "above clarity".

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

3  Fascinating    awfully nice filly to still be a MSW.......proven long and the last time this Baffert runner saw the Dmr synthetic she ran her eyeballs out

5  Go Get Em Baby   horrendous trip in last hides a move in the right direction........well at least effort (energy) wise........blinkers off for today and never trained better.....sure hints the equipment change has done some good

1  See Through   done little wrong in four lifetime races all on the sod one of which was at today's one mile distance.......owns an OK pedigree to handle the AW.........decent early speed in this spot and speed sure has been king this week so far

race 2    above average clarity

6  My Monet   very stout early speed and good final times in all three lifetime sprints........and a very impressive recent 4F bullet drill.......1st on the Dmr AW is a ? mark

4  Smoove It   two straight strong grass efforts down the SA hill......has run well on the AW .......although this is her 1st on the Del Mar synthetic...........jock knows this filly well as her regular rider thru-out her career

5  Seeking Shamrocks   lifetime best (and would make her the one to overcome) is her effort three races back.......and the race was at Dmr and at today's six panels.......not sure what we will get but if we get her best.......lookout

7  Incentive Awards

race 3    below average clarity

3  Increase   takes that ever dangerous drop out of MSW racing.........and this colt has very good early speed .......seems likely to be somewhere close to the front from the get go saving ground........such a deal

10  Dynamite Ride   blinkers off and good recent endurance building works at Slr.........drops a couple of claiming notches.....seems well prepared for today running for the 1st time below her purchase price of $55K.........difficult post at one mile on the main track but does have tactical speed giving Espinoza something to work with trying to get on over by turn one

7  Where's The Moon   last sure looked like a public work-out in a sprint to drop and go in a maiden claimer today.......very good breeding to handle a route.......better pedigree for a route than a sprint

9  Jimbaran Bay

Long-shot consideration:   4  Howdy   displayed some brilliant early speed with 1st time blinkers in his last......rightfully tired after going a stressful eyeball to eyeball thru 6F........wire to wire shot here especially if the track remains speed favoring as it has so far this week

race 4    below average clarity

5  Simon Kenton   decent return to the race wars in last........trained as if Mandella was preparing this colt for a route so the 6F layoff run seems like a tune-up......works prior and since the race sure remain impressive.......bred well for the distance and the surface........jock Solis has woken up with the switch to Dmr

3  Opsec   sharp a.m. work has yet to lead to a MSW breaking win but maybe today is the day........good early gas should mostly lead to a ground saving trip........cut back in distance sure appears to be a plus........seems likely to be a major player back on the grass today

6  J Serino     very strong layoff run in last and the effort is somewhat hidden.......as is his lone grass race...........and like our 2nd selection the cut back in distance likely is to his advantage

8  Moonlight Meeting

Long-shot consideration:   1  Arlington House   61 to 1 for a Jeff Bonde 1st timer hints the race was an endurance building route tune-up.........work-outs since the debut are vastly improved and rather impressive.......1st on the lawn today and Bonde has won with 23% of his last 47 1st on the grass.......dangerous and at a price

race 5    average clarity

8  Memphis   big speed and final time wake-up in last with fronts on......reassuring 4F work since..........repeat of his last can put him in the winners circle once again.........come on Iggy

6  Tribal Dude    likes the surface......likes the distance.......wheeled back in 7 days most likely to get to run on the soon to be dufunct AW surface one one time.......a ton here if this Hess runner physical can handle such short rest

1  Finallygotabentley   drops way down for today and that is a touch suspicious..........but blinkers on today and the last time this gelding wore blinkers he was produced brilliant early speed..........so if he is healthy enough he might get a ground saving on or close to the lead position which has produced almost all the winners on the AW this week

4  Industry Leader

race 6    below average clarity

3  Longstocking   1st timer for an ex assistant to Todd Pletcher has put some fast speed drills into this two year filly.......believe she will be a major factor from the opening of the gate

4  Megyns Gold    blinkers off for this high speed filly most likely to get her to slow down some early as she has been flattening out in the late stages........Casse has won 5 of has last 15 with "blinkers taken off" with 5 others in the money........that sure makes the equipment change seem quite significant

6  Avenge   work regiment for this expensive 1st time starter suggests he is ready to roll......and over the last 1/2 dozen years or so R Mandella seems to like to have his very expensive babies (say $400K or higher) ready at 1st asking

5  Prettypreciousheir

Long-shot consideration:   11  She's A Big Winner   broke slowly and really rushed in her debut........displayed sizzling early speed.........not impossible to clear with a clean start and that would make this Eurton two year old filly dangerous......and I believe she will go off higher than her 12 to 1 ML.......I would not use her if she does go off at 12 to 1 or less

race 7    average clarity

9  Presenceofagenius   hard trying consistent grass cutter has been off since April but he returns in the Hollendorfer barn and he is working as if he is meant and ready 1st time under his guidance

1  Mr Lexis   best ever was her race two back which was at Dmr at today's turf distnce.......and the rider that day is much less accomplished that today's jock.......and a good post to boot

2  Toledo Eddie   young rider should be able to get to the wood sitting 1st, 2nd or 3rd on turn one with his good post and tactical speed.......and this Truman runner has a nice history with apprentice rider Van Dyke in the saddle

7  Goodison Park

race 8    average clarity

6  Alright Alright   ran 109 flat with a wide trip up on the pace to break his MSW at 1st asking........and a dynamite 4F drill on the training track at SA since........trainer could really use this as he has had one tough year.......hard not to root for him

4  Prime Engine    ends up in the Hollendorfer barn after crushing competition at Emd........Emd isn't exactly Dmr but this isn't exactly the toughest Grade 3.......impressive work tab to boot

1  Sebastian's Heart   big effort 2 back and the race is hidden by a bad trip.........then back in 10 days........too much to ask of a baby..........shot to rebound today with a much needed 5 weeks off

9  St. Joe Bay

race 9    average clarity

4  Hadfunlastnight   loves the Dmr surface and soon the AW surface is a goner.......best win now so why not risk for $32K........1 for 1 with Trujillo in the saddle.....in the hunt from the get go which has been a plus for most of this meeting so far

5  Endless Cruise   proven fresh runner needs to be ready because in all likelihood it will be months (at least) before he can race again.......very sharp 6F drill should have more that ready

10  Passing Game    just snatched at the claiming box at GG by the ever dangerous Jerry Hollendorfer.........good history at Dmr for this gelding......and a very good history when Pedroza rides

6  Ranulf

9  Fighting On

7  Congregationalist
