Los Alamitos for Thursday 11 December 2014

Decent card to start the new week of racing at Los Alamitos. Plenty of rain in the forecast for tomorrow.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

5  Fighting On   ultra consistent sort(17 3 7 3) pulls back one level to the price where Diodoro and company claimed him for........last effort hides him some as he got caught wide up on the pace.......not a good position to be caught in unless it was a slow pace which it was not

6  Oligarch   tossed a clunker in last but continues to train like one happy healthy and sharp six year old.......big effort two back at SA at today's 6 1/2 furlong distance........pressed a nasty 2nd quarter and still was only beaten by 2L.....rebound city likely today

1  Brannaman    might be rated too low as his last five efforts all fit fine here.......placed 3rd as I am slightly concerned that he is up for $25K

race 2    average clarity

9  Sindy's Luck   3rd place maiden debut was nothing to write home about fig wise but the works since indicate he benefited from the race and is likely to move forward today if of course he takes to the Lrc surface

10  Justonemorething   nice forward move in 2nd lifetime endeavor at Del Mar.......deservedly and wisely steps up a notch.....last fits......more and he might be the one to beat

8  Tomasino   large step in the right direction in last.........will need another large step forward again today........then he will be in the hunt for the winners circle

1  North Lake Tahoe

race 3    average clarity

1  Awe Ge   back to a sprint following a fairly dull 1st ever at a route in last........never better in the ever was her only race at today's 6F distance.......she has shown she can handle Lrc......rebound seems likely

7  City Ride   seems like this filly really appreciates racing at her home base which is Lrc........all three races on the Lrc surface are par or better for today's level.......and her last at Lrc run two back is very strong......would have been top choice if her endurance was a little better as she has something to prove racing further than 5 1/2F

6  Singing Kitty   both lifetime conventional dirt races fit fine here......and her best ever was her maiden "fresh" off of 52 days seems like a good thing

3  Yes She's a Dancer

race 4   below  average clarity

2  Bernster   away from the game for three years following a strong MSW debut on 26 Dec don't see too many like this from the Baffert fact he remains in the Baffert barn seems significant........and the works hint this five year old soon to turn six he is sound and ready to re-start his racing career

6  Sum Midnight Star   decent (not great) work regiment for this Baffert first timer (what's new?) and a soft looking field in which to debut in

4  Bellamy Concerto   away since his debut which was in April where he didn't show too much......but......returns as a first time gelding and with a work regiment that makes him dangerous

8  Logan's Moon

race 5    average clarity

5  Pursuitofparadise   fits race condition awfully well and seems sharp.......and likely to get a good close to the front position in a race lacking speed........only lifetime race at Lrc is better than appears in print

3  To B a Noitted   very consistent sort since the blinkers were added 9 races back.......not at her best in her latest but claimed in the race by a capable trainer in Howey Quinn (including with shippers) and the works since indicate that a rebound can occur this afternoon

4  Addellusion    better history in sprint races than route races and might be at her best at 6 1/2F.......owns one win and one second at 6 1/2F in two starts........might not be slipping as much as her running lines suggest as Bejarano sticks around for a 3rd straight time

2  Ten Minute Play

race 6    average clarity

4  Tension    two straight endurance building 6F gate works put in......then finished up work regiment with two impressive speed drills of 4F......Bob Baffert appears to once again have a 1st timer well prepared and ready for her MSW debut

1  Dyna Star   toss out latest as this Hollendorfer two year old filly appeared to dislike the turf.........back to the dirt where she preformed fairly well in her MSW debut two back.......and she went off 38 to 1 which suggests she surprised her connections and wasn't all that cranked up.......she likely is now

2  Canadian Exchange   trainer is only 1 for his last 15 with MSW 1st timers but the work regiment is solid for this filly........seems dangerous

10  Penny N Mitzi

Long-shot consideration:   9  Courting Mischief   might live up to her name today if she manages to fire today...........she was last or near last in two lifetime starts........filly moved forward quite a bit in 2nd lifetime start and did it off of only one preparatory drill.........6 drills since her last this time around.......doesn't drop and a rider ever seems likely what degree might be the ? mark

race 7    average clarity

4  Unforgettable   MSW winning debut run 2 races back at Lrc was impressive.......filly made a powerful turn move and held off all challengers in the stretch........failed at Fno in a small stakes race in next......since the dull effort she is training on the Lrc surface exceptionally well.....rebound sure seems highly likely

8  Lotta Attitude    consistent sort (8 2 2 2 2) and might be best on conventional dirt.....and she is 2 for 2 at today's 5 1/2 furlong distance......claimed by the ever dangerous Ron Ellis who is stout 1st following a claim as well as with runners returning off of 2 or 3 months

6  Margie's Minute   rider upgrade.........and lone race at Lrc fits fine here and is somewhat disguised as this filly was able wire inside in decent pace on a semi-dull rail

3  Shakeitupbetty

Long-shot consideration:   1  Big Break   ran well turf to dirt 2 races back......and arguably her best ever was the only time she ever raced at today's 5 1/2 furlong distance (and it was her debut).........low percentage rider and trainer but not a comb0 or as individuals

race 8    above average clarity

4  Go Goldie Go   decent drills for this Jeff Mullins 1ster but "decent" sure seems good here as this is one soft looking group of maiden 20K claimers.....and why not debut for mdn20K as this three year old sold for chump change ($2.2K) at sale

7  Aperfectdaytofly    seems to be on a slightly declining slippery slope but he still should be a major factor here even with another small downward move......and if he breaks the trend and rebounds he would be ever so tough in this spot

5  Cernobbio   toss out last......hates the Dmr AW.....race 2 back at SA is a par like effort albeit with a very beneficial pedestrian pace (or I would have selected higher).........recent preparatory 4F drill is one of the best drills he has ever worked........rebound seems likely

3  Billy Mac

8  Preordained

9  Sevenintheseventh
