Los Alamitos for Friday 12 December 2014

Sloppy track highly likely today.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

2  Abets Abet   two year old filly is a consistent closer when sprinting and with the blinkers off.........both of which is the case here.........and that consistency sure seems significant versus such a horrendous looking group

1  Maid Easy   works are only so so for this debut runner but Kory Owens is a high percentage trainer with 1st timers and this filly is nicely bred.......and she sure doesn't face too much in this weak looking field

6  Tamka    debut might have been a tune-up of sorts as this Kruljac two year old filly had little support at the windows.......been away for 3+ months and returns training a little better .......needs more horse today but maybe not that much more

4  Racing Hope

race 2    average clarity

5  Harlington Night   last win came Dmr route to Lrc route (17 Aug to 7 Sept).......last race Dmr route........7F sprint today.........the latest works are vastly improved seemingly out of nowhere.......smartly steps up a level......seems poised for a very strong effort

4  Faster Cat   best early gas in the field and a win machine (10 for 18).....and doesn't need the lead to win which hints this invader is quite capable of rating and slowing things down......seems to be a major speed factor in this spot......thus dangerous

3  Relentless Hope   drop makes sense to me as this soon to be eight year old hasn't earned his keep the last year and one half..........and the gelding appreciates the Lrc surface.......so.......that is another catalyst for his connections to drop so as to take advantage of a surface he likely won't see again until next summer

race 3    average clarity

1  South Texas    three lifetime starts for this filly and her lone start at Lrc is so much her best.......and the effort fits extremely well versus today's foes.......so my guess is Pederson will pull out all stops to have her feeling good to take advantage of a surface she likely won't see again for 7 months

5  Really a Princess   last was poor.....but she will be a major factor from start to finish in this spot if she manages a rebound......the fact that Bonde and company didn't drop her suggests a rebound might be in the cards

3  Empress Wildcat   1st timer has flashed some decent drills now and then hinting she might have some ability.........maybe the connections don't want to show too much as the claiming vultures are always lurking

7  Gold Journey

Long-shot consideration:   4  Cleverly Tuned    moved forward in last and ran lifetime best........and since the effort her a.m. prowess has improved.......another (and necessary) move in the desired direction might be in the cards

race 4    average clarity

1  Meta Mu   solid forward move in 2nd lifetime start and has trained well since......and this filly draws Gary Stevens which is very reassuring as Stevens seems to be only accepting very live mounts..........mt guess is because he is still dealing with some issues following surgery

5  Show Stealer   lone race on conventional dirt albeit at SA is quite good and disguised by a wide trip.......and the filly sat too far off a lackluster pace and still finished up impressively.......showed she can handle two turns in last.......seems poised for a strong effort today back on the "real thing"

3  Madam Aamoura   believe the lead will go to this Baffert runner or our 4th choice.......and the lead on a sloppy day often is more dangerous than it normally is

7  One Gun

race 5    average clarity

1  Matzoh Ball Magic   on the right end of the learning curve and her latest improvement (and 1st at a route) was hidden by a wide trip on a rail bias and up on the pace to boot.......seems likely to be up on the pace once again but likely will be able to save some ground this time around

6  Jackson Showdown   given some time off following two straight dull races.........lone race at Lrc is better than par.........drops and draws top gun Bejarano......that hints the time off and some useful morning work has set him up for a necessary rebound

3  Kozani   last two races (albeit on the grass) fit fine for today's level and that is rather hidden........drops quite a bit for his 1st race ever on anything other than turf.......and bred quite well to handle a sloppy (or fast) track

2  Vavoom

race 6    average clarity

4  Fame and Power   cut back in distance seems like a plus as does the equipment change to blinkers off........believe the trainer sees what I do ......that this colt preforms best from off of the pace

1  New Summit  solid debut on 25 October........three wide trip up on a decent pace and still managed a 3 1/4 length beaten 3rd.........same effort with a cleaner trip and he can be a major factor today......likely the one to overcome if he moves forward and things go well trip wise

9  Bentley's Gone   trainer has been in a prolonged slump but seems due to snap out of it........maybe this well bred (mom has tossed 5 winners from 6 starters including a Stakes winner) and well worked two year old colt can jump start things for Marty Jones

8  Sir Samson

race 7    average clarity

6  Silver Marquise    four year old filly has been improving one baby step at a time since mid summer......last two efforts which were on the AW at GG were solid races versus better........seems to handle conventional dirt as well......shipper seems quite dangerous

5  Eltoninadress   rent a horse (seems to get claimed every time she runs) looks loose in this spot and she is very consistent........that'll do

3  Warren's Assassin   doesn't care for the grass much so that suggests her last was nothing but a turf tightener.......big drill since the grass race........1 for 1 at Lrc and it was at today's abbreviated 5 1/2 furlong sprint distance

2  It's Aine

race 8    average clarity

2  Katerriffic    broke slowly in lone race way back in March.....showed plenty of early speed following the bad start of about four lengths....also this filly had a ton of support at the windows in her debut especially for a Leonard Powell first timer.......seems ready fresh once again.....bred decently for the off going

3  Beyond Lucky   broke about 8 or 9 lengths slow in her debut and then showed she can run some.......two smart drills since and wisely one of the works was out of the gate........fits fine here if of course she breaks well and handles the gooo

7  Kahana   expensive purchase at sale is working well for Marty Jones and company in preparation for her debut into the wonderful world of thoroughbred racing........well maybe not so wonderful on a raw windy rainy day

6  Keezheekoni

10  Go Get Em Babe

11  Enchanted Fortune
