Santa Anita for Saturday 27 December 2014

Hope to keep the good times rolling today but I doubt we will get as many good trips as we received yesterday. Great trip for Alert Bay a $20.40 top choice winner in the 7th yesterday and many good trips through-out the day as well.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

7  Mahalo Arturo   last 4 races all fit at today's level.......1st time gelding........positive rider change.........seems stout here if he gets a reasonable trip and has held form

3  Warren's Wesley   last is OK......but what we want is his effort two back which was at SA and at today's 6 1/2 furlong distance

1  Kozani   obviously is a diminishing three year old........maybe the cut back in distance for the likely hurting gelding can of course might the drop to his lowest career level

5  Magna Warrior

race 2    below average clarity

4  Ill Tell You What   woke up in last and his stout four furlong work since (and at SA) strongly suggests another move forward is about to occur today.....should be part of the mix from the get go

8  Powerful Girl   on the right end of the learning curve and his last race is hidden by a bad trip......broke slow and ran too wide.......did well to grab 4th beaten by only 3 1/2L for the win

11  Holy Ascension   filly owns some decent early speed and there really isn't that much in this race.........and the filly is reliable breaking from the gate...........low percentage jock but he's OK with a sped type

5  Pretty Emma

race 3    average clarity

4  Ben's Duchess   decent debut at Lrc off of some impressive since continue to be solid........switch to arguably the nation's best bug boy and Sadler's go to guy of late - Draydon Van Dyke

1  Fantastic Style   Bob Baffert 1st timer appears ready to roll at 1st asking......would have been top pick if he hadn't drawn the 1 post which is always difficult for a 1st timer to deal with

8  Longstocking   exits a solid MSW heat at Dmr in her debut where she ran wide and put in the kind of effort/fig that with a logical forward move today would fit fine......and the new conditioner (ex - assist to Pletcher) has done well with 2nd time starters so far

12  Dyna Star

race 4    average clarity

6  Ezio   just snatched at the claiming box by Ellis who is quite dangerous 1st out following a claim.......rider upgrade especially with the 5 lbs weight break for the bug boy.......solid move forward seems likely

7  Buymeabond   seems to be improving one baby step at a time thru-out his career........winner of his last race would crush here and he was only beaten by 2 3/4 lengths by him

2  Jomelo   trainer won two yesterday and is always tough when he uses Bejarano.......five year old deservingly steps up a notch following 2 straight wins at the $25K level

4  Tigah

race 5   average clarity

6  Secret Circle   one of the best sprinters in the USA over the past 3 years.........owns a nice stalking style which seems to put him into almost every race that he runs in

7  Distinctiv Passion   speed of the speed in this affair seems loose here........ but..........he best not set one of his ridiculous nasty paces or he likely won't last 6 1/2 furlongs........44 flat or slower and he will be dangerous

5  Seeking the Sherif   has learned to rate some and that would be wise here because if he tries to go with our 2nd pick he will be gasping for air late in all likelihood

2  Bahamian Squall

race 6    average clarity

3  Daddy D T   solid in both lifetime turf races and his last is somewhat disguised by a wide trip versus tougher.........away for two months but his recent grass drill with the dogs up is solid........good off pace turf rider in Nakatani

11  Bolo   difficult post but might own enough early speed to clear enough of his competitors to dive on over and not get caught 3 wide or worse on turn 1......shot if Mike Smith can make that happen

9  Soul Driver    improving sort........blinkers on for today suggests to me that Mullins wants this off pace (so far) colt to sit closer this afternoon which seems wise in a 1 mile turf race

5  Stormy Liberal

race 7    above average clarity

5  Dancinthenightaway   crushed her competition in both lifetime starts and showed stout pace in both of the efforts......and she sure appears to be the controlling speed in this affair......owners have a shot to be dancing the night away once again

10  Sayes So   solid winning MSW debut on the AW at Dmr.........fits solidly here if she logically builds on the effort and handles her 1st on conventional dirt.....pedigree for the "real thing" seems fine

11  Pica   proven runner fresh and she sure is working as if running "fresh" won't be a hindrance once again........only race at SA is much better than appears in print running wide close to the pacesetters and still nearly winning

7  Sky Mega

race 8    below average clarity

5  Lady of Gold   four year old filly is running much better than appears in print over her last 3 races.......bad position and/or no pace in which to close into.........stout trainer and rider to get things right today

7  Blingismything   powerful stretch runner deservedly tries the big girls today.......her late kick reminds me of many of the Euro invaders you see on the East and West coasts

3  Lady Pimpernel   solid 1st in the good old U S of A in since strongly suggest she will produce even more in her 2nd start since arriving from Great Britian

8  Kathleen Rose

Long-shot consideration:   12  Aquafria   1 1/8th on the sod seems like the perfect distance for this late our 2nd selection she should be motoring late

race 9    above average clarity

11  Prospect Park    both lifetime route races both of which were run at SA are much better than par when you adjust for trouble.........blinkers off and new jock for today........same effort with just an OK trip and he should be one tough cookie

1  Second Summer   poor start on the dirt in MSW sprint debut 2 back.....showed life following the tardy start........then showed a very strong finish on the grass at a route into a pedestrian pace in lifetime start no. 2.......back on the dirt and route recent 5/8ths drill.......good post...........seems ready for best

9  Kantune   consistent sort and seems to be on the right end of the learning curve........likely would have made it to the circle of joy in last if he wasn't blocked in the stretch

5  Cyrus Alexander

4  Force

8  Ghost Of Navigator
