Santa Anita for Saturday 10 January 2015

Average card this afternoon and "average" sure was good yesterday.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

3  Guy Code   lead type only (?) ran a solid route number in last......so.....if he can manage the front end cutting back to a sprint today he likely will be tough..........only time today's jock rode he won for fun

2  Wildcat Sailor   two for two at today's distance and and on conventional dirt........seems clearly best of the off pace runners in here..........scratched the other day for this race

4  Dr. Vincentstein    lead type only has a shot if he can get a jump on our top pick especially since he carries 7 lbs less than anyone in the field with the bug boy up

7  Cloudy River

race 2    average clarity

4  Wild At Heart   expensive 1st timer for Richard Mandella......and the stout conditioner usually gets the pricey one's ready to fire at 1st asking.......a.m. prowess support this

5  Glory   good MSW debut both in final time and pace ......would have been top choice if I was was more impressed with her a.m. work since

6  Dad's Princess   bit of a puzzle here.....all three lifetime sprints are solid (and disguised by bad trips) but were on the AW......both lifetime route races which were run on the conventional dirt at SA are poor......so......is it the distance or the surface?????.........we will in all likelihood find out today

race 3    average clarity

1  Mama's Trashed   nice awakening in latest with the blinkers removed........and the effort is hidden to some degree by a wide trip.......cut back of one furlong should be a plus.......trainer/rider so far have made for  good combo

6  Empress Wildcat   good mc debut last........would have graduated if not for a poor trip.......trainer won Thursday's nightcap with a 2nd time starter that looked similar

5  Oleanderpolarbear   decent mc debut last and Sadler in much more dangerous with maiden claimers making their 2nd lifetime start

9  Scatajawea

race 4    average clarity

6  Tacit Approval   horrid position in last hides a very strong effort......wide up near the pace on a day the rail was golden.........handles the grass just fine........solid contender here if she has manages to hold her form

5  Demonica   on the right end of the learning curve........away for 8 weeks but I sure like the work regiment since her last race........rather sure ready fresh.......shot to make it 3 for 3 on the sod

7  Keri Belle   Big Apple invader for John ( so overdo to wake up) Sherriffs sure looks all set to strut her stuff in S Cal off of a very impressive 7F drill 125:2H

2  Faringdon Circle

race 5   average clarity

4  Bob Consultation    big number at SA two races back on 30 Oct versus a solid 12.5K group only got him a small check........with that in mind.......his latest race might be a dirty him up gimme in a non-claiming affair (to keep the claiming vultures at bay) to drop and go against softer

10  Nextdoorneighbor  very consistent for quite some time now with few reasons not to believe he will give a good account of himself once again this afternoon ........and he is (4 2 2 0) since T C Baze took over to boot

14  Senor Rain   diminishing in form but his whole 7 race career at SA fits here..........and so does his latest which was run at Lrc......his condition has obviously gone south but I believe his health is still good enough to be a major factor here at the very bottom claiming level at SA of 8K

8  Trulee Scrappin

race 6    above average clarity

7  Calculator   for me he ran the best performance in his Grade 1 last as he had a very bad trip and still managed 2nd.......veered out at the start with his outer-most route post (as so many do) and then running wide fairly close to the pace.....prior Grade 1 race is quite good as well......don't see any Texas Red's or American Pharoah's in this affair

1  St. Joe Bay   toss out last as he appears to dislike the green stuff.......back on the dirt where he was impressive in his last couple........one of which was at SA

8  Hero Ten All   done little wrong in two lifetime starts......still......he will need the development to continue today and a clever ride from T C Baze from the outer-most 8 post

3  Rockinatten

race 7    average clarity

2  Secreto Primero   stalked a nasty set of fractions down the hill in last and hopped when he got to the dirt crossing.......gelded since.......wise move.........solid 6F drill just 6 days ago......should be tough from the opening bell

3  Battle Of Evermore   best of four lifetime races was his lone race down the majestic SA hill grass course........away for 9 weeks but very sharp in the a.m. for this afternoon's race.......rather sure he is up to a solid layoff effort today

9  Conquest Harlanday     was bet hard in his lone lifetime race run way back in June at CD but physically something likely happened in the race as he has been off since..........training as he is meant and ready once again this time on the sod which he is very well bred for

1  Anytime Anyplace

Long-shot consideration:   8  Ultra Sharp    two useful lifetime races on the main track......now gets to run on the grass which he is bred to handle oh so well......and he gets the hot and wisely selective Gary Stevens to ride

race 8    average clarity

2  Hoppertunity   Bob Baffert's four year old colt sure has gotten good and his recent work regiment strongly suggests the good times will continue this afternoon

3  Majestic Harbor   obviously needs a rebound and he is finally training as if one can occur this afternoon

4 Big Cazanova   might be left alone on the front end and if he is that will be a dangerous thing as he is 4 for 5 lifetime in the USA when he has been loose

11  Tonito M.

race 9    below average clarity

2  Urban Hunter   monumental rider upgrade......blinkers on today and loves the front........and comes off a solid layoff effort........likely in this race down the hill from the get go

8  Snowday   bad claim two races back so Hollendorfer and company drop..........running versus much softer here......so if this gelding has remained in relatively OK health he should be a major player......rate it 50/50 that he has

9  Sheer Talent   last race on the dirt at Lrc fits well if of course this Garcia runner can duplicate the effort on the SA hill......one of his two lifetime races down the hill is decent

10  Meydan Magic

6  Fighting On

1  Compari
