Santa Anita for Thursday 29 January 2015

Only one morning line favorite as our top selection. That makes things interesting.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

4  Bullwinkle Babe   sure appears to have muscled up in a big way off of a turf route run in her last as she just worked an eye popping 58:4 near bullet drill........maiden is racing over her head but I believe the connections want a race "now" and that she might vault forward in a big way today

2  Bad Ju Ju    Machowsky trains this last out graduate and also our top pick.........strong 1st ever on conventional dirt in last her and 2nd lifetime start winning by 9L (albeit on a rail speed bias ).....stout a.m. work since her lopsided win.......another strong effort sure seems likely

3  Exfanofsixties   A C Avila isn't all that great with 1sters but he was able to get a win in this girl's debut..........and he is very good with repeating 1st following a maiden breaking run.....6 for his last 18 and 6 others in the money......danger city

race 2    above average clarity

4  Whiskey Wild   last is vastly improve (albeit on a sloppy track) both in pace and final time........repeat of the effort (even 85% of the effort) will be tough to overcome here

6  Congrats Seattle   only lifetime sprint sure stands out as this three year old gelding's best race by far......and the effort would beat today's competition........believe he is diminishing some but with another drop in mc and running 2nd out after a layoff he is likely to rebound to some degree today

2  Fabber   22 to 1 for a Blake Heap 1st timer suggests the race was a tune-up of sorts and that more is likely today.....and his mc debut wasn't bad beating 6 of 9 foes

8  Fortyate Hi Points

race 3    above average clarity

6  Hennythelovepenny   last sure appeared to be a public work-out to drop (Grade 2 to nw alw) and go with a recent race under her belt......2 solid recent works is most reassuring as well

5  Tall and Sweet   won for fun in her MSW debut and has trained since as if she has remained a happy healthy young filly for Jerry Hollendorfer and company.......highly likely to be a major player once again

2  Rattataptap   scratched Sunday to race here.....toss out last as she had the trip from you no where........jock upgrade to the meets leading rider.........and Bonde/Bejarano don't team up too often but they have been a tough combo over the last few months when they do

race 4    average clarity

3  Couldashouldadid    Yakteen is quite dangerous dropping MSW to maiden claiming and he gets the meets top gun to ride.........last dirt race run two back sure fits solidly here......1st at a route but owns an OK pedigree for one

9  Spring Action    outstanding trainer with claiming horses most of the time has been struggling the last 3 or 4 since Bill Spawr isn't used to struggling I believe he is more likely to drop down some of his stock to hit pay-dirt........that looks look the case here

5  Crane Lodge   faced way too tough in last........goes from a spot over his head to the lowest level of his life.......can be a factor today if he has held form

1  Beach Fever

race 5   average clarity

1  Queen's Balladier   poor trip in MSW hides a decent turf route effort.......broke a little slow and ran a little wide but maybe more importantly ran too far off of a lackluster pace........cut back in distance to a sprint down the hill........Solis is in a slump but can jump start things here

12 AE   Loufoque   laid up since August but training as if ready to roll fresh and sure showed she handles the grass as both lifetime grass races fit here provided she doesn't get caught too wide from a tough post

9  Humoristica   good work regiment (and with a few works of merit) for this R Mandella 1st timer.........and Mandella is better with turf 1st time starters than dirt 1st time starters......few are

10  Taylor Lane

5  Our Candy Charms

race 6    above average clarity

2  Dress Code   poor journeys in last two endeavors hides a consistent sort that likely has remained in form......and today we get a monumental rider upgrade...........and a drop of one claiming level......should be tough

1  When We Met   the jock who had been riding our top pick lands here and he can make me eat my choice of words about the rider upgrade with a good ride of this Diodoro nine year old who is dropping

8  Truelee Scrappin   4 for 11 at the distance..........1 for 27 at other distances..........1st following the Emily Mode claim.........Mode does decent with limited starters.......jock upgrade

7  Juniper Pass

race 7    average clarity

6  Warren's Nicholas   not too shabby of an effort in latest considering the extended hiatus from the race wars and the fact the race was a dirt sprint.......much better running a turf route which is the case here.........full throttle go this afternoon 2nd out after a long long layoff

9  I'll Wrap It Up   been racing versus better.....just claimed by Lobo and he finds an easier and non claiming spot for his new shooter.......would have been top choice if it wasn't for this gelding's tendency to hang in the stretch

7  Silver Torch   consistent sort and seems best running on the grass that SA has to offer and running at today's one mile distance.........good rider/trainer combo usually even tough their success together of late hasn't been up to snuff

1  Wicked Heat

race 8    below average clarity

9  Silent Ruler   decent history at SA (4 0 2 2) and this colt can finish down the stretch with life and many in here can't say that.......solid brother team

10  Majestic Charlie   on the right end of the learning curve......would have been top choice if he had a better post especially considering that he has a low % jock up

5  Arctic Code   not much in last......what we want is his effort two races back..........likely the one to beat if he rebounds to that effort ......the recent a.m. work has fallen aren't everything especially when you drop a horse

7  Deep Digger

6  Starzilla

1  Blame It On Tekela
