Santa Anita for Saturday 30 May 2015

Decent Saturday card. Let's call it a 7 on the 1 to 10 scale.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

5  Top Drawer   very solid efforts/figs in this spot when racing at 6 furlongs or less.......6F today........seems likely to get a nice stalk position

4  Top Estate   best so far running off of short rest.......shortest rest of career today.......back to Pedroza who owns the lone win for this Kory Owens three year old

6  Rainsford   last is likely a gimme to ship - drop- and go go go........Bejarano accepting the mount supports the notion

2  Price of Glory   dangerous speed.....Victor Espinoza is riding awfully well these days

race 2    average clarity

6  Briana Jean   decently bred Cal-bred 1st timer finished off her work regiment with 3 gate works two of which were further than today's distance.....should have plenty of stamina to finish up well

3  Star of Munster   Diodoro 1st time starter seems to be getting progressively sharper in the a.m. hinting she is peaking at the right time........as in just before her MSW debut

7  Rare Integrity   decent fairly new sire in Square Eddie.....tightly spaced work regiment.......then......... finished it off by a 5F drill 1/2 furlong further than today's abbreviated sprint distance.....seems meant and ready

8  Princess Kendra    finished up work tab with two decent 5F gate works......might have rated higher with a better post

Long-shot consideration:   5  Aiming Straight   strong drills prior to her MSW debut......but......tossed a clunker......solid work since.....deserves another shot at a price

race 3    above average clarity

5  Yana   just fired best of career in last and followed that up with one impressive drill 6F drill......and.......Bill Spawr is as solid as anyone when any of his stock shows strong morning work

8  Artistic Charm   2 solid grass sprints since arriving in the good old U S of A from GB.....1st ever at a route but this now four-year old filly won at seven furlongs at two in GB.......so I doubt the 8F will be a problem.at four

7  Warren's Jen Fizz   2 for 2 on the sod in one mile turf races.......0 for 6 at other distances on the turf.....8 furlongs of grass today

3  Sweet as a Rose   might need a race off of the extended hiatus.....but if she doesn't she might fit in this spot.....(4 0 2 2) at the distance on the sod

race 4    average clarity

3  All Around Brown   last time running in a sprint (3 back) fits fairly well here......and the way in which this Puype runner has been working of late suggetts that effort or better is about to occur today

4  Go Jeremiah   3 of 5 lifetime sprint races fit fine here......Matt Chew runners have been out running their odds at a high rate all year-long

5  Hallucinator   just claimed by Agarie who has been somewhat magical to start his training career.....and.......3 for 6 over the last two months when using today's rider

8  Majestic C   poor start in mc debut and then showed he can run some.....blinkers on today to help his focus and get cleanly out of the gate.....shot if the equipment change works

race 5   below average clarity

2  Spanish Queen   very impressive in all three lifetime races all of which happen to be grass races..........very smooth looking runner continues to train like a happy healthy individual......nice mid back of stalking style

6  Mrs McDougal   Chad Brown invader sure has been impressive in the morning at Belmont of late.........big step up this afternoon but Brown is very dangerous with turf shippers

4  Feathered   nice confidence builder winning a Grade 3 at CD on the grass in her 1st ever on it........Todd Pletcher 3-year-old filly might be up to today's Grade 1 race versus tougher

5  Sharla Rae   shocking 2nd at 48 to 1 in last in a Grade 2.....not impossible in today's Grade 1 if she builds upon the vastly improved effort and handles the added distance

race 6    average clarity

7  Bronze Star   on the right end of the learning curve....and if this Hollendorfer runner vaults forward today 2nd out after the layoff as he did last year in his 2nd lifetime start he will be very tough to overcome

4  Forest Blue   ran a distant (6L) 2nd in a Grade 3 to a "monster" in last.....that effort fits solidly here back in an allowance race......stout rider/trainer combo

1  Spin Forty   on the right end of the learning and his last his 1st at a route is better than appears in print

2  Rockin Robin    back to T C Baze who seems to be the only rider who can get something out of this colt.....1st on conventional dirt is a ? mark

race 7    average clarity

7  Shemp    solid win down the hill in his mdn50K debut.....that effort was par like for today's level so it fits fine here.......and if he manages a move forward he will be quite difficult to beat

5  It Is Living Water   consistent sort has been away since August but he is proven on the SA hill grass course and sure is training as if he is meant and ready fresh off of the bench this afternoon

3  Next Right   dangerous speed horse ran a big effort 2 back..............might be up for a rebound off of a series of 3 solid drills......if he does bounce back and gets the lead he will be tough to catch

2  Dead Easy    impressive close into a pedestrian pace in his last......likely to get a more favorably pace scenario up front today

Long-shot consideration:   8  Not Enough Eddie    no shot in lone grass race as he dueled in one nasty pace in a one mile affair.......did appear to handle the surface........solid recent bullet work at LA......deserves another shot on the turf and especially in a turf sprint

race 8    average clarity

1  Big Cazanova    very solid when he brings his "A game" and the way in which is is training for today's race strongly suggest's he will.....best preparatory set of works for a Peter Miller runner in many a moon

7  Moreno   by far at his best at today's 1 1/8th distance ( 7 2 2 3).....and you have to appreciate the fact that C Velasquez sets fit to ship in to ride

4  Hard Aces     blinkers on for today and an improved work tab.....just what you want to see with an equipment change.....race 3 back at the FG is strong

8  Catch a Flight    good history both in ARG and the USA running off of 3 to 6 weeks rest....4 weeks race this go around......hot trainer in R Mandella

race 9    average clarity

11  Seedsandstemsagain   has improved with each grass race he runs and his latest is significantly better than par when you adjust for pace and wide position.....same effort and a more clever ride and off to the circle of joy he will be

3  Real Big Deal   believe this colt greatly benefited for his MSW debut as he popped a very quick 4F drill since........switches to the grass for 2nd lifetime endeavor and he owns a good pedigree for it

4  Stormin Trick   dangerous speed if he takes to the sod and his pedigree for it suggests that he will

1  Fritz Johansen   away since October following two so so lifetime efforts....but.....returns as a 1st time gelding and training quite well......might be a much improved three-year old

5  Shanty Irish    both races down the SA hill are approximately one length short of par.....gets to run off of short rest for the 1st time today.......might move forward and be quite dangerous

8  Unusual Alex   sharp drill following a useful MSW debut which was also down the hill.....rider has been awfully hot of late
