Santa Anita for Friday 12 June 2015

Seems like a decent card today and Saturday's also seems "playable" at first glance.

Best of luck as always!

race 1   above average clarity

3  Lookin for Money   rider upgrade and drops into claiming.......been up twice before for a $62.5K tag so dropping into $50K today doesn't concern me much

5  Backstreet Lisa   sharp better than par win (albeit in the slop) in latest.......looks like the best early speed in the race and that is a dangerous proposition with a Miller runner with T C Baze up

2  Abets Abet  Spawr has taken his time with this filly since he claimed her and has her working quite well......1st ever on the sod is the ? mark especially since the crafty trainer is 0 for his last 13 1st on the turf

race 2    above average clarity

7  Later My Love   nice breeding for a Cal-bred 1st timer.....and works are solid (especially considering the level of racing) for Jeff Bonde who wins more than his fair share with MSW debut runners

1  Princess Kendra   brutal trip in debut somewhat predictable from a bad post at 4 1/2F........much better post to deal with today.....same effort with an OK trip and she should be a major player

4  Swiss Rosalee   1ster shows hints of early speed in her works.........but.......would like to have seen more than one work at today's race distance of five furlongs

race 3    average clarity

5  Long Hot Summer   2 of 4 lifetime races fit solidly here including her lone effort down the hill at SA.......away 2 months and a week but her a.m. prowess hints the break won't be a hindrance

2  Evo Campo   66 to 1 maiden debut shocker in GB on the AW on New Years Eve......away since.......shows up in the Gallagher barn with some solid drills with the dogs up on the turf......good grass pedigree...... and....... the crafty trainer has popped with Euro invaders in the past

6  Stealth Drone   significant forward move in last......just claimed by a stout trainer in Peter Miler.....1st on the sod with a so so pedigree for it........if she does take to it and fires her last she has as good a chance as anyone to win this affair

3  Grand Yodeler    dangerous speed here if she takes to the grass in her 1st start ever on it.....trainer has had his best meeting in many a moon

race 4    average clarity

6  Sea John's Spirit   Ellie is often at his best 3rd out following a prolonged layoff which is the case here......and he sure has this seven-year old mare sharp (and improved) in the a.m. in preparation of today's race

8  Belle of the Fleet   very solid in her last 3 sprint endeavors at SA all of which were at today's 6F distance......seems likely to sit in a nice outside stalking position

3  Larocco   obvious turf tightener in latest.......back in short rest.....full throttle go today.....should be in the picture late

7  Rosewhitenblue   appreciates 7 to 10 weeks between starts and gets it......needs best and might provide it

race 5   average clarity

5  Atta Boy Pete   solid move forward 1st out following the D'Amato claim.....the effort is better than par for today's $32K level......good looking 3 work series since.......same or better seems likely today

7  Mobilized   needed last to some degree and the sloppy track two month layoff run wasn't bad.....drops a claiming notch.....most of this nine-year old runner's carreer down the SA hill grass course fits fine here.....should be motoring late

1  Magna Warrior   last fits and is disguised by running wide and probably a little too far off a semi-soft jock up to get it right

2  Back to Bako   last was a little short of what it takes at today's level but is better with short rest and gets it today

race 6    average clarity

7  Masters Circle   away since Oct but drops out of MSW racing into a mdn20K.......Glatt is often ready with laid up sprinters and this fellow showed high level speed in his two lifetime races.....seems formidable from start to finish if he returns the same horse and of course breaks well from the gate as this race is at the abbreviated seldom run (outside of two-year old runners)  sprint distance of 5 furlongs

8  Wicker Man   cost $120K at sale and in for mdn$20K for his 1st start......but.......he is a five-year old so why hint he is ready for Sadler and friends

5  Papa's Playboy   not much in 4 lifetime starts.....but.......blinkers on and training better......wake up time what degree is the ? mark

6 Cowtown Mary   best of the rest......might be interesting if breaks exceptionally well

race 7    average clarity

3  Global View   trainer Tom Proctor is due to wake up and might here as this Grade 2 winner is working as if it is "all systems go" for today off of the 2 month break.......note: dull in the a.m. prior to his last which was a sub par effort for the colt

7  Kulik Lodge   another Proctor runner gives the trainer double barrel action in this affair........five year old has done little wrong in 4 career races and is well proven off of layoffs.....and draws picky M need to be picky at his age

5  Ambitious Brew   very solid turf sprinter tries a route........pedigree is OK to get the one mile but........Marty Jones is only 1 for his last 36 1st time long........ouch.......but then again......1st time Bejarano

2  Twentytwentyvision   very consistent to date.......but..........short on figs.......but........the trainer has been firing on all cylinders for the most part

race 8    average clarity

5  Stunning Taste   on the right end of the learning curve and just worked an awfully strong 5F just 5 days ago at SA......believe this filly is really coming around and might provide her trainer with his 1st win of 2015

2  Lucky Mo   just keeps getting better.......and better......and better........and just worked a solid near bullet 4F drill at Slr our top selection this filly might be sitting on her lifetime best

3  Kenny's Girl   solid move forward in 2nd lifetime start....and considering it was run off of the prolonged layoff it seem likely more should occur today

11  Roman Wild   last fits and the cut back of on half furlong seems like a plus........tough post at 5 1/2F or would have been selected higher

7  Lana Caprina   last was decent and obviously significantly better than any of her previous races....back in short rest.....might feel really good......6th choice but not at all impossible
