Santa Anita for Thursday 18 June 2015

Card seems decent. Let's call it a 7 on the 1 to 10 scale on things

Best of luck as always!

race 1    below average clarity

1  Pammy Whammy   tepid top choice sure appears to be the lone speed here unless it was the off track that made his early speed significantly increase in his maiden breaking win in his last

2  Pure   back to reality following an ambitious ship to Pimilco and the Grade 2 Black Eyed Susan....last two races would be tough in this spot.......previous 6 might not

3  Melanistic   cut back in distance helps.......likely to get a nice stalk position or might even lead if our top choice doesn't show early speed today on a fast surface

race 2    above average clarity

3  The Gold Monkey   Bruce Headley has won a stellar 6 of his last 15 1st at a route........and his 4-year-old gelding sure looks well prepared for his 1st route endeavor with a series of 4 consecutive good looking 7F works put in

1  Woody's Folly   solid awakening in last albeit on the AW at GG.......but since the race this Bill Spawr runner put in a fast reassuring drill on the SA surface

2  Fortyate   last which was his 1st time with the blinkers on is better than appears in print and he sure is working well enough to move forward 2nd out following a 2 month layoff

7  Aaron Again   improving sort can be dangerous with another move in the right direction

race 3    average clarity

2  Tiz Jolie   gelding has basically fired in all six of his one mile dirt route races with a couple of those efforts disguised by poor trips......drops one level......should be solid at today's 3 year old 32K level

3  Signature Cat   by far the best early gas in the field so he should open up a lead and if Van Dyke can get this three-year old to relax in his 1st ever in a dirt route..........he............might.........go..........all............the...........way

5  Afleet in Time    tough trip in last in a race where he faced our top choice who beat him by 2L but his adjusted for trouble number was actually 2L better......but he seems to find trouble every start........but then again the meets runaway leader in wins stays up which enhances his chances at a better trip

race 4    above average clarity

4  Spirit of Ten   impressive tightly spaced work series since the claim by D'Amato........back to the grass where her last race on it 3 back fits well in this spot and also back to the rider who rode that day.......seems quite likely to fire best ever on the lawn today

1  Cleverly Beverly   Tup invader has efforts (figs) that sure fit solidly here.......but.......she sure has a tendency to hang in the stretch especially over the last 20 months or so

5  Light Striker   just claimed by Canani and he sees fit to put the blinkers on.........and he switches to the grass with his new shooter who has dirt figs that fit........1st on the sod for this filly but she has a good pedigree for it

7  Four Times Lucky   same trainer as our 2nd choice sends out another Tup invader.........who likely will attempt to wire the field at best or maybe just keep the race honest for the late running 1 horse

race 5   average clarity

8  Right There   bet hard in MSW debut and ran an impressive wide 2nd place since suggest she is even sharper for her 2nd lifetime start

9  Tiz a Tommy Town   Jerry Hollendorfer is good with 1st time starters but especially so with two-year-old filly 1sters.......and........two recent strong 5F gate works say she is meant and ready

6  Uptown Twirl   just purchased for $630K in March.......enough said

1  Reckless Charm   seems to have been sent to Jim Cassidy fit and ready for her MSW debut from the GD training center

race 6    above average clarity

6  My Sweet Afleet   just popped her lifetime best in her 2nd out on the sod and 1st at a route on the sod.......two reassuring works since.......good move forward in 3rd lifetime start......that bodes well for her 3rd out following a prolonged layoff and going two turns on the grass

2  Diamond Cut   big predictable move forward with a very positive rider change in last......1 1/8th is a good fit and might not be for many in here.......should be solid here

7  True History   needs a little more to overtake our top two picks provided they fire as expected.......might be up for it of off a 3 work series which was tightly spaced every 6 days

8  Mia's Storm   useful sprint tune-up in latest.....ready for a top effort but likely will need lifetime best ever to take this.......might be better as an "underneath" play in your exotics

race 7    average clarity

6  Cherubim   big layoff win in last and the way in which this colt crossed the wire hints that he has something left in the tank for today.......solid tightly spaced series of 5 works since support the notion

2  Yiannis   fell off in last but the way in which he has worked in the morning hints of a strong rebound this afternoon and a chance to go 3 for 4 lifetime

8  Caminetto   seems best at SA and at today's 6F distance.....and then there is that Baffert guy.......six year old gelding is not out of this

3  Drover Crazy   best of the rest & seemingly a good spot for his late running style

race 8    average clarity

9  Crystal Harbor   on the improve with every start.......and if the trend continues in her 4th lifetime start she surely appears to be the one to overcome

7  Queen's Balladier   appears better suited to a sprint and the dirt....gets both this afternoon and gets that ever significant drop out of MSW racing to maiden claiming

3  Sparkling Peg   needs a rebound......but......just claimed 2 months ago and Spawr has put in a nice set of drills.........decent chance a rebound is in the cards

8  Slu Dixie   away 10 months but facing somewhat easier and sure she is training as if she can fit fine at the maiden 30K level.....should be a handsome price

6  Oleanderpolarbear    no shot in latest (which was 3+ months ago) setting a strong pace on a dull rail and checking a couple of lengths......fits fine here if Sadler brings her back as the same horse

1  Alyeska   decent drills for this Kathy Walsh 1st timer.....might be a player despite the difficult post for a 1ster
