Santa Anita for Thursday 25 June 2015

Decent card today to start off the last week of racing for the marathon meeting at Santa Anita. (I like Friday's card even more.) Very impressive card for Saturday quality wise. (Yet to have studied it.)

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

4  No Tricks for Jack   seems like a great spot as he sure appears to be the controlling speed and is 2 for 3 at the somewhat speciality distance of 7F

6  Salsita   turf muscled up and can handle the dirt just fine........should be coming into the picture in the late stages.......connections will be hoping for more pace up front than anticipated

2  Peppy Bolly   late runner often finds trouble in races but when she doesn't she can be very dangerous in the late stages

race 2    average clarity

2  Del Mar Dixie   on the improve and now drops one level.....finally Jeff Mullins is getting the winners circle........he seem to be in drop/go mode

7  Wild Caroline   2 for 3 and a close 3rd for the other on main track routes...... and one for one at Santa Anita.....just claimed by Stute.....and it might be a good one.

4  Private Marina   at her best at today's 1 1/16th distance.......step up is fine as her last sure fits winning with a wide trip and winning by plenty of daylight

6  Articulate   Ellis claimed in her last and drops his new shooter in claiming price......no problem for me as the crafty trainer is lured into to 16Knw3 condition

race 3    above average clarity

6  Gomo   exits a fast heat on the dirt and showed significant early speed for a two-year old filly in early June......turf and the two turns are ? marks......but.......she sure stands out here if she handles both

1  Do the Dance   useful debut on the dirt as this filly is bred for the grass and the distance and should move up on it........to what degree is the ? mark

3  Rich Girl   OK grass and route pedigree and Bejarano sticks around.......not impossible in this weak looking group

7  Joan of Arch    best of what is left and that isn't saying much......Tup trainer is good 1st time on the sod with a given horse

race 4    average clarity

7  Grace and Truth    Steven Myadi has had a decent go of it with 1st timers this year and he sure appears to have this three-year old gelding training as if he is meant and ready in his debut into the wonderful world of thoroughbred racing

10  Noble Hawk   trainer is often at his best 3rd out following long layoffs and the is the scenario here.......so that makes the drop out of MSW racing more significant than usual

3  Masters Circle   might be a need to lead type and was taken back in his last......seems loose and dangerous today 2nd out after the long layoff

8  Soul Crusher   Gus Headley runner has been a cash eater of late but the cut back of 1/2 furlong seems like a positive

Long-shot consideration:   5  Sharprado C S  1st start after the claim for Miller wasn't much.....but he stopped and re-worked his new shooter and the stout conditioner sure has his three-year gelding training as if he is markedly better

race 5   average clarity

4  She Sings Along   solid debut as her final time running a 3L beaten 2nd was better than the other heat of filly state-bred MSW's.........solid 4F drill just 4 days ago.....same or better seems likely today

1  Miles Sister   Clifford Sise 1st timer finished up with 3 consecutive decent 5F works at Slr.......seems fit and ready for her MSW debut with plenty of endurance put into her to finish up well

3  Good Looking   no support at the windows whatsoever in MSW debut which wasn't that bad.....so the race appears to be a tightener and quite a bit more has the potential of occurring this after

10  Esmeralda Belle   decent races in both lifetime starts.....but.....I am afraid of this filly not clearing enough runners by the turn.....very tough post at 5F at Santa Anita and most tracks

race 6    average clarity

8  Shapely   very solid in 2014......tossed a clunker in her last which was off of an 11 month layoff but I'm ignoring the effort as she acted up prior to the race........lifetime best was her lone one mile turf race

7  Sweet as a Rose   blocked and checked 1/2 dozen lengths on the turn and stretch or would have won the May 30th version of this race......two reassuring works since.......Drayden Van Dyke will be out to make amends

6  Artistic Charm   all three lifetime efforts since arriving to the USA are par like efforts for today's alw level.......Bejarano knows this filly having been aboard for all three starts in the USA

5  Zanbo   9 for 9 in the money at today's one mile turf distance.....claimed in last by Miller and he has his new filly working as if her consistency will continue in this spot

race 7    average clarity

6  Anxious Times   vaulted forward in two races back with 1st time blinkers......and the effort was disguised by running wide and doing so up on a decent pace.....won next stalking an extremely hot pace......just worked 35 flat BREEZING a couple of days agoago.......feeling great

4  Cross the Line   two for two in non-Graded route races......back in one today......and....gets 1st time Bejarano

8  Kung Fu Mambo   been away for more than 2 1/2 years but when last seen this six-year-old won two straight Grade 1's in Peru by 6L and 9L......works put in by new trainer Miller are very impressive.....dangerous sort

7  Desert Dynamo   impressive 1st ever at a route in last.......pressed a hot pace  and still won going away.....stellar works since......has a shot to be involved early once again and like last time never succumb to the pressure of a predictably hot pace

race 8    average clarity

8  Qui Bear   last is very strong and was her 1st ever in a sprint albeit on the dirt....1st sprinting on the sod but owns a good pedigree for it.....sharp bullet 4F drill just worked 3 days ago

13 AE   Ya Ya Girl   drops to the lowest mc level of her career.......both lifetime races down the majestic SA hill grass course fit well in this spot........one of the top contenders is she draws into the field

3  Quality Chimes    away for 2 months but returns training better than she ever has.......1st on the turf but bred well for it

2  Yaffe   tightly spaced work series likely has this filly ready for her maiden debut.....and her trainer is decent with maiden 1st timers on the grass

12 AE    Canadian Exchange     small drop in claiming and small move forward 2nd time down the hill and she can be a player here

5  Miss Gifted   works are steadily improving for this 1ster for Abrams.......might be sharpening at the right time.....as in right before her debut
