Santa Anita for Friday 2 October 2015

Decent card today and Saturday's looks good at 1st glance.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

1  Toomanytomayoes   very good history turf to dirt......so her last (1st out after the Carava claim) is the obvious over her head gimme on the grass to tighten up for this afternoon's dirt sprint

6  Papaslilprincess   SCRATCHED OUT

2  Smooth Talker   on the improve .........and her lifetime best on the dirt was at 7F......winning in her only time running at the distance....... and by over 7 lengths

race 2    average clarity

4  Visibility   drops two claiming levels and the last time the trainer dropped two levels she won......rider upgrade........and 7F should be a good fit and won't be for many in this affair

9  Resistanceisfutile   showed plenty of life in mdn20K debut breaking poorly and running wide.....earned a better than par adjusted for trouble fig.......claimed by Becerra in the race.....would have been top pick if the trainer didn't own such a dismal record 1st out following a claim

6  Where's Bubba   flashed significant quarter-mile speed and then fell apart in his maiden debut......might open up a lead........ relax .......and wire in lifetime start number two

2  Rob's Pal   should sit close up in an affair lacking speed....so.......somewhat dangerous

race 3    above average clarity

2  Follow Me Crev   both grass races since Cerin claimed at 1/16th or less are exceptionally strong for today's level........blinkers off and two decent 4F works showing.......defintely the one to overcome

4  Lovensek   connections had to be doing cartwheels when they dropped to $40K and didn't get claimed and got this fellow eligible for this Aw40000s (non-claiming) race.....sharp in a.m.......should be in the hunt from the opening bell

7  Royal Banker   little shot in latest 1st out following the O'Neill claim as he sat too far off of a lackluster pace ......thus.....he couldn't put in much of a close......deserves another shot considering how stout O'Neill can be with claims

10  Silver Torch    consistent sort but not too crazy about winning.......1st time Bejarano should help

race 4    average clarity

8  Moonlight Meeting    seems best at SA and his last at Del Mar is better than appears as he ran way too wide.......might have won with a good trip.....claimed by Hess and he got this fellow to work well and Hess doesn't push too hard in the a.m......should be tough back at the same 16K nw3 level

9  Shakahari   consistent sort but tends to flatten out a little late......but........ Blaine Wright is good with shippers and also good 2nd out following a claim......believe sitting a top effort

6  Mr. Itkins   both lifetime wins were at SA and both were at today's 6F disatnce.....needs his "A game" ......recent couple of works hint he might bring it

1  Carlsbad Mountain   faced way too tough in layoff last.......most likely just a public work-out......back where he fits today.......both lifetime scores came on a "drop"

race 5    average clarity

8  Red Button   just claimed by Spawr and the way he has his new shooter training (trainer doesn't push his stock very hard in the mornings) hints he has the trump card for this three-year old gelding......we shall see

9  Global Magician   best ever route grass race was run sprint to route......turf sprint is last (and a good one) - route on the grass today.......hmmmm

2  Dynamite Ride   4 straight 2nd place finishes all of which were route races.........blinkers on most likely to help his focus in the late stages

6  Cowtownmary   might feel really good to step up so much.......and especailly with a vastly improved work since his last......likely will attempt to get loose and wire

race 6    below average clarity

3  Dress Code   a trifecta of "bests".......best at SA........and best running at today's one mile distance.......and seems best with Perez on his back

2  American Blend   obviously has some major physical issues but might have one or two more efforts left in the tank......fits very well if he does

4  He's a Real Keeper   seems to be on a rebound of sorts.....not impossible with another move in the desired direction

8  Noble Kent   greatly diminished 6 yr old was just claimed by Mulhall.......similar to our 2nd choice in that I doubt there is much left in the tank for this fellow as well.....but fits if he holds together physically

race 7    average clarity

5  Freddies Dream   2 for 2 at 1 1/8th on the grass......0 for 6 at shorter turf distances........that and the way this gelding finishes at 1 1/8th lead me to believe he will like the mini-marathon turf distance of 10 furlongs

6  King of Jazz   improving grass runner and sure looks as if he can get what he needs.....that being a loose lead

2  Nahem   nice move forward 1st out following the Hollendorfer claim.......seems likely to get a nice stalking trip behind our 2nd selection......sure fits if he handles the added distance

1  Unusually Green   nice grass cutter at 1 1/16th or less......failed to hit board both times as the favorite at 1 1/8th......so.......4th choice mostly because on the distance

Long-shot consideration:   8  Itsinthepost   seems to be on the improve........pedigree says he wants a longer race as does the way he finished up his latest.....low % trainer......but 3 for his last 12 1st time with blinkers

race 8    average clarity

6  Betterlethergo   drops a couple of notches and back to the dirt where her lone effort on it fits and is disguised by a bad trip........1st time blinkers and sharp works.....hinting the equipment will help this afternoon.....young trainer needs a win

8  Relaunch a Memory   SCRATCHED OUT

2  Ponder Lea   decent debut and trouble here if she builds upon the effort......a touch concerned about the drop.....but then again her a.m. prowess hints that she has remained in good health

1  Seaward Cottage   drops.....gets 1st time Bejarano......and her latest isn't bad....not out of this

3  Darling Grace   lone race with Lasix sprinting on dirt is good.....and today he gets a major league rider upgrade........like our 4th pick she is not out of this either

5  Bert's Baby  filly has been competitive every time she has been put up for a tag (4 0 3 1).....up for mdn40K today
