Santa Anita for Thursday 8 October 2015

Don't miss out on the 53% savings by purchasing both days of the Breeders Cup at Keeneland on Oct 30 and 31. Breaks down to be about $1.50 a race. Deal ends Columbus Day the 12th of October.

So So card today to begin five consecutive days of racing. On the 1 to 10 scale let's call it a 5.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

5  Diva Down   claim back by Eric Kruljac is fairly consistent and appears to appreciate two turns.......small drop helps........should sit in a nice ground saving stalk or mid pack striking position

6  Doyouknowsomething   last 4 efforts sure fit solidly (and last on the grass is hidden by a bad trip) at today's lower level.......but.......can his body handle a 3rd route race in 13 days.......we shall see

2  Wild   colt has been caught wide in 4 of his last 5 races and still was able to be competitive.........smaller field today should keep him from losing so much ground......placed well to win......should be motoring late from far back

race 2   average clarity

5  Ground Rules   seems likely to get an awfully good stalk position behind our 3rd pick in a race seemingly set for those up close in the early stages.......like the Desormeaux/Sise rider/trainer combo

6  Sammy Mandeville   obvious over his head gimme/tune-up in last.........full throttle today finally back in an allowance race......last win and by 6 1/2L came 7 races back which was the last time he ran in an allowance race........good history back in short rest which is the case here

2  Home School   last at Lrc is better than appears in print (wide on a somewhat rail biased day)........seems loose here and if Garcia slows things down.......he................might...............go.................all................the................way

race 3    average clarity

4  Lucky Student    lead type only appears to have about a 75% chance to get what he needs.......Bill Spawr appears to be waking up and that is a dangerous thing.......above average rider with a speed horse in Maldonao aboard

1  Always a Chance   believe Doug O'Neill really wants a 6F dirt sprint ( 4 for 9 at 6F on the dirt & 1 for 29 placed elsewhere) so he is willing to drop one level to get one....sharp recent 5F drill......likely very ready as this lady sure looks likely to be snatched up at the claiming box

7  Shared Image   3 of her last 4 races fit decently.......and retains the favorite to take down another S Cal riding title in Rafael Bejarano

6  Swissarella   way too ambitiously placed since claimed 3 races back.....back to the $20K he was claimed for........not impossible today but definitely 4th pick

race 4    average clarity

(AE's 13 and 14 are dangerous if either draws into the field)

2  Diamond Debbie   Mike Puype takes over the training duties of a filly that improved in her 2nd start fig wise......but maybe more importantly she ran 3rd in a race where 1st and 2nd came back to win their next start......1st on the sod but owns a decent pedigree for it

7  Appealing Lady   interesting that Eurton steps this filly up into MSW racing following her last where she was claimed but the claim was voided (would be the perfect time to drop even more)......work tab since her last is vastly better.....1st on the sod with an adequate pedigree for it

1  Slew's Charm   lone race on the hill is better than appears in print..........layoff last looked like a public work-out........likely fit and ready for today's race

9  Journeyonthemove   last two grass races are better than appear in print........would have rated higher if it wasn't for Graham's lack of experience down the SA hill grass course

race 5    below average clarity

3  Poythress   lifetime best was turf to SA dirt 3 races back.........turf in last and dirt route today and with a much better ride up than was aboard in that effort 3 back........somewhat concerned about the drop......but this fellow sure appears tough if his good health has slipped too much

4  Architop   takes a two level drop for his 1st ever on the dirt.......OK pedigree for it........draws Stevens and Mandella runners are usually very "live' when the Hall of Fame jock rides for the classy conditioner

5  Born To Serve   only two route endeavors were on the grass and he displayed significant two tun speed......if he shows as much early gas in his 1st ever two turn dirt race he might be able to wire the field

6  Popsracer   continues to train like an individual with some ablilty......maybe 1st at a route will bring it out of him.....sure has a good pedigree for distance races

Long-shot consideration:   7  Spartan Strength   Drysdale is 7 for his last 15 MSW to MC.....that is the case here......showed some life in his MC debut (two back) following a very poor start.....OK breeding to get the two turns

race 6    average clarity

7  Henrythelovepenny   Peter Miller is tough route to sprint and that is the case here.......sprint race 2 back is the best ever effort/fig for this filly......seems likely to repeat it or pop another lifetime top

4  Zanab   filly has spent too much time on the grass (6 0 0 0).......(3 1 0 2) on main track surfaces......sharp recent drill........exits a very fast heat versus better where 3rd is a solid number for today's race condition.....trainer often gets under-bet

8  Nite Delight   nice improvement in last.......and has trained since like a happy healthy individual.....needs to avoid flattening out at 6 1/2 furlongs

2  Cadet Road   needs effort 2 back and many a little more........1st time Bejarano can help get it out of him

race 7    average clarity

1  Sadie Clare   on the improve with every start.....1st at a route seems OK considering how well this filly covered 6 1/2F despite very poor starts......1st on the lawn should be a plus with her pedigree.....clean break would be a bonus

3  Awesome Lookn   cut back in distance appears to be a plus......decent efforts on the grass in last two races but flattened out some at 1 1/8th and 1 1/16th.....and a good record at 8F on the main track

7  Minster'sadventure    both lifetime grass races fit fine at today's slightly tougher level.........filly is very consistent to date (5 2 3 0)

4  West Coast Storm   on the improve and just claimed by Baltas........1st on the sod........OK pedigree to handle it......shot with another move in the desired direction

Long-shot consideration:   2  Wild Bella   likely to sit close to the front in an affair that seems likely to be kind to those that do.....last which was on the slop is much better than appears.....dueled in fast pace on a bad rail.......did quite well to hang onto 3rd......good history for Palma 1st following a claim

race 8    below average clarity

10  Juju's  Mojo   seems like a good spot for a 1st timer and obviously I believe this filly to be the one most likely to be fit and ready at 1st asking.........really like her last drill which was at SA (5F 14/102)  and worked just 5 days ago

8  Be a Lady   fractious prior to her debut and had a bad trip........watch her behavior if you can......should be very dangerous if she settles down this time around

2  Pulpit Rules  both fast track races at SA might fit and both are hidden by very bad trips especially his MSW debut 4 back......improved recent work tab.......trainer might have tweaked something for the better

3  Gusto's Gal    debut 2 back isn't too bad.......last race is........needs a rebound and maybe a little more

4  Reinahermosa   decent efforts in last two races......but weak connections......as likely to move backwards as forwards following two OK races

6  Bedecked   1ster has been able to hit the track every 7 days for a prolonged period of time .......Art Sherman is 1 for 4 at the meeting with his lone win with Ty (new to the scene) Kennedy up.....might be ready
