Santa Anita for Saturday 10 October 2015

Don't miss out on the 53% savings by purchasing both days of the Breeders Cup at Keeneland on October 30th and 31st. That breaks down to be about $1.50 a race. Deal ends Columbus Day the 12th of October.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    below average clarity

3  Send Me a Sign   nice move forward to a par like sprint effort in 2nd lifetime start......1st at a route for lifetime start no. 3 and with the right trainer and rider at the helm......filly owns a solid route pedigree.......better exit from the metal monster would be a plus

2  Almost Guilty   on the right end of the learning curve with few reasons not to believe the learning process won't continue today

5  Entebbe   fired lifetime best (and by quite a bit) 2 races back.........fell off in latest......better a.m. work since......rebound city this afternoon

race 2    below average clarity

10  Illuminant   pressed a nasty pace in latest and impressively only lost by a nose.......should be very fit to finish well cutting back from one mile to the SA hill......and she showed she can handle the hill just fine running 2nd 3 races back with a big 6L gap to 3rd.....retains Bejarano

6  Wheatfield   47 to 1 in MSW says the race was a gimme (and not a bad one at all) for Marty Jones and company and that they were likely pointed for today's race down the hill......Jones is only an average trainer these days but at his most dangerous with runners down the hill.......and his filly owns a pedigree that should appreciate the green carpet

3  Luminary   so so effort in MSW (dirt) debut way back in November of last year.......training prior to the race was not very impressive......but it is for today........good grass breeding......dangerous fresh 2nd starter for R Mandella and company

4  Tap Dancing   consistent grass runner has also been away since November and returns with a better trainer.....seems well prepeared.....would have rated higher if she didn't hang so much down the stretch

Long-shot consideration:   7  Vendita   battled it out with our top choice early in the aforementioned nasty paced affair........popped a bullet 5/8ths drill seemingly out of nowhere on the 25th of September........Cassidy discovered something about this filly

race 3    average clarity

6  Financial   went off 30 to 1 1st off of the layoff which suggests the race was a sprint tune-up for today's route endeavor two levels lower.....trainer seems to be in go mode.....solid recent work series

3  All Star Parade   vastly improved since the blinkers were added two back.....might get a decent outside stalk position

5  Three Red Sevens  very consistent sort and seems at his very best at today's  8 1/2 furlong distance......but.........definitely has a problem - hanging.....maybe new trainer John Brocklebank can change things up somehow.....he sure has had a good 1st year as a trainer

7  Alltheleavesrbrown   bad news on conventional dirt so far....but training quite a bit better of late..........deserves one last shot??

race 4    average clarity

7  Daddy's Duo   two for two on conventional dirt........lifetime best was turf to 6 1/2 furlongs of dirt........turf race in last......6 1/2F today

2  Pleasant as Pie   believe Ellis and company were (pleasant as pie) surprised by this girl's MSW debut as she went off at 33 to 1 and won by 6L.....doubt she was all that cranked up.......should be today.......signicant upside potential

6  Moyo Honey   done little wrong in two lifetime races both of which were at SA and at today's 6 1/2 furlongs.......seems likely to sit in a nice stalk position as she did in winning on June 20th and running 2nd on May 3rd

3  Bennet Jean   new trainer for today in Eurton......away sine late Feb. but training as if she is all set to roll just as she was in her MSW debut......that debut was a solid at run at SA.......4th choice but plenty of potential

race 5    above average clarity

9  Dressed in Hermes   very impressive effort in last both in final time and pace........and Stevens signs on for the first time and signs on for a small outfit.......excellent work series in preparation for today

7  I'malreadythere   decent 3rd in a 100K Stakes like today 1st in from GP with little time under the guidance of his new trainer.......now he has been in the Hollendorfer barn for an additional 5 weeks.......so.....Jerry has been able to train this baby his way.......draws Mike Smith.....more seems likely

2  Getoffmyback   useful 1st ever on the sod in last.........and 2nd time turf for Miller is a strong stat.....and this two-year old is a 1st time gelding........potential seems there for a solid forward move this afternoon

4  Freedom Hill   nice MC debut win earning a solid adjusted for trip and pace fig.....close to a decent pace and caught wide and still won..........1st long and 1st dirt........OK pedigree for both

race 6    average clarity

7  Brownie Finale   nice wake-up in his 2nd lifetime start both in pace and especially in final time......trainer has had a good year and is better than average getting back to back wins out of a given horse

2  Family Code   best final time fig (his latest race) in the race seems poised for a 3rd straight good competitive effort.....but.....I am a touch concerned that he earned that fig pressing a ridiculously slow 47:1 pace ......thus 2nd choice

3  Courageous Dave   bet hard in MC debut and did not disapoint.......reasuring work since......needs more this afternoon and might provide it........solid trainer/rider/owner trio

8  Ready Cat   bad trip 1st into SCal in last.......plenty of time off and plenty of a.m. work to turn things around 2nd time out under the guidance of Peter Miller

race 7    average clarity

7  Lucky Folie   solid MSW debut win both in final time and pace.......endurance put in in the a.m....bred well for a route and the grass......should be in the mix from the get go and with Gary Stevens in the irons

5  Jakaby Jade   shooting for 3rd straight win on the grass and straight $100K Stakes win.......1st time Bejarano......should be roaring late with one nice turf rider with off pace runners

8  Imflatoutsweet    compromised by a wide trip or might have beat our 2nd choice in her last........switch to Graham who does a nice job of finding the inside in turf routes

10  One Last Shot   Baffert filly has done little wrong in 2  lifetime starts and sure has a good-looking work regiment........but a difficult post at one mile on the sod.....thus.....4th selection

Long-shot consideration:   4  Aguacate   nice forward move 1st time Lasix and 1st time at a  route.......ran 2nd in a paceless race the kind of race you can ignore the final time fig......Cerin is solid 2nd time at a route (4 for his last 12 and 4 others hit the board) and solid 2nd time Lasix

race 8    average clarity

6  Dr. Dorr     Baffert 1st time starter finished off his a.m. work with 3 straight impressive gate works......which tells me this colt is well meant in his MSW debut

4  Let's Meet in Rio   another Baffert 1ster whose last 3 of 4 works were out of the metal monster.......hard to separate the two Baffert 1st timers.......mainly put the 6 horse on top because 1st call rider Garcia is aboard

11  Miner's Light   very powerful MSW debut losing by a nose to an eventual Grade 2 winner........would have been top pick if the race wasn't way back on 25 July with only 4 works since.....still........a dangerous entry for sure

5  Iron Rob   nice wake in latest..... and....... improved works since (just what you want to see).......seems quite likely in for better today

race 9    average clarity

5  Brimstoned   2 for 2 on dirt when not wearing blinkers (winning by an average of over 8L) ..........11 length win in last was aided by a rail bias but it still was a very impressive route dirt race running a stellar 135:2 at Del Mar.......that race should handle these

10  Avanti Bello   another with a strong route race in his latest.........only concern (and the reason he is 2nd pick) is because he ran the race off of a turf race.....needs to prove that he can run as well coming off a dirt race today

6  Big Red Deal   big awakening in last seemingly out of nowhere.......dangerous sort if he builds off of the effort and handles a dirt route......Stevens and his agent sign on........hmmmm

1  Strom Comin Thru   needs "A game" and needs it at distance that might cause him to flatten some........1st time Bejarno should help

Long-shot consideration:   2  Wings of Mojave    should be full of endurance coming off of a 1 1/4th win (albeit vs easier) at Lrc......very reassuring 5 of 106 5F work at SA since......feeling good....might have plenty in the tank late

race 10    below average clarity

5  Toledo Eddie   lone race down the hill run 3 back is solid for today's lower level.....recent bullet 4F work hints he is sharp......trainer could use a win

3  Royal F J   Jack Carava knows this hill specialist inside out..........eight year old has been very competitive down the hill at the 25 -  32K level......seems likely to be a factor in the late stages

6  Giant Ego   seems at his very best down the SA hill..... and......Diodoro is very dangerous 3rd out after a layoff which is the case here

8  Pathway to Yes   2 for 3 down the SA hill.......drop into claiming seems logical as he has earned only chump change ( $6K) since winning on 28 March 2014

10  Turnover   very  promising four-year old drops into a $32K claimer for Baffert ........yikes.......one good effort left in him.......toss a coin

1  Incline Village   dangerous if he wakes up as he handles the hill quite well
