Santa Anita for Sunday 25 October 2015

Today is the last day we are offering quite the bargain for purchase of full card selections for the 2nd day of the Breeders Cup at Keeneland on Saturday October 31st at a 30% discount or a cost of $24.50. That breaks down to less than $2 a race. After today both days of the BC will be at full price

Del Mar opens on Thursday for their Bing Crosby Meeting. Friday's and Saturday's selections for Del Mar will posted early to help accommodate those getting to track/OTB's early. I will let you know at what time on Thursday if not sooner.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

6  Courageous Dave   solid forward move in last in the sprint version of today's race condition.......1st at a route and with a decent pedigree to handle one especially for a LA-bred

1  Tribal Roar   clunker in last.....race two back fits......impressive bullet 5/8ths gate work at LA.......rebound city seems likely if he can handle a route of ground

4  Mishegas   definitely on the right end of the learning curve.......good rider/trainer combo.......decent route pedigree and runs as if he wants one

race 2   average clarity

2  Nine Point Nine   Cerin is in go mode and doing well 1st out following a claim of late.....1st out after a claim here.....hidden solid effort in last for this two-year old filly.......Cerin is stout stat wise stepping up a level and also solid sprint-route-sprint......both are the case here

4  Tiz Pleasant   all three efforts since Alfredo Marquez claimed fit fine in this spot......and he retains the meetings leading rider in Bejarano (what's new?)

1  Jen's Tribe   works hint this Lewis 1st timer might be ready at 1st asking......low percentage trainer but 15% win with his last 20 MC 1sters.....hmmm

3  Manhattan Fashion

race 3    below average clarity

3  Smack Talk   2 wins and a 2nd in 3 starts running 5 or 5 1/2 furlongs.........hasn't hit the board in 3 other lifetime starts at 6 1/2F or 7F.....1st ever at 6F......seems like a major player if 6F is within his disatnce capabilities which I obviously think it is

4 Krsto Skye   clunkers in last couple of races but the trainer is uncanny at getting form reversals out of his stock......Gutierrez rides for the 1st time....and Mario is riding exceptionally well right now......believe one of those "form reversals" occurs here

2  Percy Fawcett   not embarrassing himself versus better.....placed where he can compete for the top prize today......Lucarelli is decent with invaders

5  Lambo Luxx

race 4   below average clarity

5  McHottie   trains and runs better at SA than Dmr.....so.......connections will likely be all out to get the most out of this filly this afternoon as SA is 2 months away......7F seems like a good fit especailly off of a route race

3  Bella Anatola   decent breeding and working well considering the level of racing.....and Baffert is every bit as dangerous with MC 1sters as MSW 1st timers

8  Kellianne Can Can   sprint-route-spring maneuver and 1st time Gutierrez aboard.......stout rider/trainer team

6  Heed to Speed

race 5    below average clarity

2  Velvet Mesquite    by far at her best down the hill......dirt 2 back was a tune-up.....then no shot in latest dueling in decent pace on a dull rail.......reassuring near bullet 4F work since.....seems likely to get a nice inside stalk or mid pack position

8  Off the Road  Brz invader is working as if she is ready for Mandella..........filly has been in the exacta 6 of 7 lifetime races and 4 of those were Grade 1 or Grade 2 affairs.......draws Hall of Fame Mike Smith to guide her down the tricky SA hill grass course

4  Amaranth   lead type only should get what she needs here.....has a little bit more to prove on the sod but her trainer has invader from up North with her  to win at SA a couple of times in the past

5  Spirit of Xian

race 6    average clarity

4  Cant Do the Dance   high percentage trainer ships into a soft looking spot with a speed-ball.......needs to put away the 6 horse

3  Planet Sunshine   beat up old-timer was sadly once very consistent but the wear and tear has taken its toll.......still he seems good enough still to compete in this weak looking group

5  American Blend   declining seven-year old hit bottom in last......needs a rebound to his race two back which would likely win this........rate it about a 30% chance he provides one

7  Captain Corrigan

race 7    average clarity

4  Win the Space    race seems set for a closer which this colt happens to be.......grass race 2 back is quite strong as is his recent a.m. work......only missed 2nd in the Ark Derby by 2L.......seems ready for a top dirt effort today

11  Chief of Staff   solid in all 4 lifetime route conventional dirt races.......needs to avoid sitting too close to the pace setters as the fractions will likely be nasty.....right guy to get that accomplished in Bejarano

5  You Know I Know  best ever was a mile turf race to a 1 1/16th dirt race run last May at SA.......same scenario today.......stout brother team.....should be a price

6  China Girl Lover

race 8    average clarity

7  Global Magician   Miller is often at his most dangerous in turf sprints.......lone grass race down the hill for this gelding was a layoff tune-up run and not a bad effort at all.....not a tune-up today

11  Pay the Fine   colt likes to stalk and ponce.......should be able to do that here and for that ever dangerous owner/trainer/rider trio in Reddam/O'Neill/Gutierrez

4  Wildcat Sailor   very consistent when competing with no fronts (5 2 1 2).....1st on the sod but owns a decent pedigree for it......dengerous for sure if he does take to it

1  Know Plan

Long-shot consideration:   6  Circle the Moon   very stout horse at one time has had some major physical issues.....but.......away for almost 18 months and training as though his physical troubles are behind him......might be a sprint prep for route........but look-out if it isn't

race 9    average clarity

6  Lucky Reality    Blacker is 4 for his last 8 MSW to maiden claiming......sharp near bullet 6F drill........and for a conditioner who doesn't push them too hard in the morning.....shot to make it 5 for 9

8 Cass in Stone   might be a good claim by O'Neill and company as his last is very strong......so strong that I am a bit skeptical he exited the race in good shape.......seems surprising O'Neill doesn't step him up.......but if he is OK he is the one to overcome

9  Resistanceisfutile   both lifetime races fit with his debut a hidden effort........like the cut back of 1/2 furlong....should have something in the tank when push comes to shove

5  Travel Bound

14 Where's Bubba

4  Popsracer
