Del Mar for Sunday 1 November 2015

OK card to finish this wonderful week of thoroughbred racing. Let's call it a 6 of the 1 to 10 scale.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

2  Sugar Spice   early speed has had a decent week at Del Mar and this 1st out after the claim by Mulhall runner has plenty of the commodity.......5 1/2F is a good fit

1  Warrensdollarsigns   rider and trainer have been hot as a team of late.......four year old runner's last is strong.......major player if she can repeat it

7  Wild Street Party   likely has a hole or two but she sure has been placed well to win in her 1st two lifetime starts and might be once again........dangerous for sure

3  Lust for Life    most of career fits.....placed 4th mostly because she will have to come from out of the clouds to get up in time in a race shape that suggests that will be difficult

race 2    average clarity

2  Iron Fist   blinkers on and a softer spot..... I think that Hollendorfer believes she will be better on or very close to the lead......seems like a ton if the change works

4  Just Kidding   impressive wide win last.....very stout rider/trainer combo........not out of this especially if the equipment change on our top pick hurts instead of helps his ability

3  Solid Wager   SCRATCHED OUT OF RACE   (5 2 1 2) last 5 races when Espinoza rides.......hopefully the jock got some sleep last night following such a historic moment at Kee yesterday

race 3    above average clarity

1  At Ease   Atten-hut:  toss out last on the dirt......race two back on the sod is strong and disguised by a bad trip.......same effort and a better trip and it should be graduation day for this 5 yr old

3  Heat   better sprinting on the grass for sure....but if our top choice fails to fire ..........a weak turf effort could graduate today

7  Cowboy   probably back too quick in last.....grass race two back with 63 days off is OK........56 days off this time.......rebound city

race 4    average clarity

7  All In The Proof   seems ripe for a 1st timer and this Hollendorfer 1ster is training decently and draws So Cal's Mr. reliable to ride

4  Andiamo   another Hollendorfer 1st timer who also is training well enough to be ready at 1st asking

1  Choppa   1st timer was purchased in April for over $ has tossed 7 winners from 8 starters......also working well enough to be a factor in her debut

3  La Galy   extremely good drills at LA for a trainer who has done well with limited starters.....would have rated higher if this affair was less than 6 1/2 furlongs

race 5    below average clarity

3  Second Proposal   tough for a closer to win these 5F turf races but so many if this field seem likely to fall apart late........and Nakatani sure can get it done with off pace grass runners

5  Chips All In   faced too tough in last.....back where belongs......cut back in distance should be a plus.......been awhile but it sure is nice to see Quinonez riding well again

2  Eddie's First   SCRATCHED OUT OF RACE   pops now and then.......tough for me to tell when......very capable if he brings the good Eddie

4  Ferocious   many signs point to this Ellis colt not doing too well........but.....he fits if he is

race 6    average clarity

7  Pippappy   toss out his 1st long in his last as it appears he didn't care for the two turns....all three lifetime sprints fit.....and his very best was his lone race at today's 6F

4  Anda   bug boy had a nice SA meeting but has struggled at the new meeting so far....might jump start things here with this Puype 1st timer working as if he is meant and ready for his MC debut

5  Warren My Boy   seems like the most likely to snatch the lead and that 1s especially dangerous with good gate jock like Maldonado is aboard

1  Mr. Coconut   not that bad of a MC debut for a 20 to 1......and going off at 20 to 1 hints he wasn't so cranked up.......might be today

race 7    below average clarity

3  Queen Of The Sand   (7 3 3 1) at one mile on the sod.......(14 2 1 0) at other turf distances.....draws Mike Smith.....should be tough

1  Gender Agenda   a little short on figs but a smooth runner and seems very likely to get a very good trip chasing our 3rd choice

4  Uzziel   not much on the grass in both lifetime starts but she sure is bred to handle it.....and.......might be able to get loose with an easy set of fractions......stout brother/rider team

race 8    average clarity

7  Abets Abet   Spawr is off to a good start at the new meeting winning 2 of his 1st 3.......filly takes a logical drop and should be muscled up some coming off of a turf race.......and fit for the 7F with the cut back in distance

5  Wild Caroline   SCRATCHED OUT OF RACE   easy to toss her last as she wants no part of 9 furlongs and an alw bullet drill since.....back where she belongs

6  Hide My Heart   nice history running in sprints on the main track (7 3 1 1).....and lone race at 7F was decent

4  Toomanytomatoes   claim back by Kitchingman......only race for the trainer on the main track (albeit on the sloppy track) is very strong

1  Swissarella    Cerin is decent 1st out following a claim........filly put in a decent 4F drill for his new conditioner.....seems to appreciate 7F
