Del Mar for Sunday 8 November 2015

Shout out to all my fellow veterans especially those who saw battle. Enjoy your day on Wednesday.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

7  Small Town Cop   best off of short rest....gets that today and a jock who has been ultra impressive on the grass....acts as if he might like a marathon

8  Image of Joplin   history suggests this proven marathon runner won't produce a 3rd straight solid effort but if he does he definitely is the one to overcome

2  It's Living Water   needs effort two back....1st time Bejarano hints he might be up to it......1st running a marathon but I like his pedigree to handle one

4  Crucero

race 2   average clarity

6  Moonie   by far at his best at Del Mar and this is likely her only chance to take advantage of its surfcace for quite some time.......and jock Gutierrez knows her well have been aboard for all but one of her 8 lifetime starts

3  West Mid   last 3 sprint races fit (all at 6F on the dirt) and she acts as if another 1/2 furlong will be a plus

5  Lucy De   bet hard in her MSW debut but only ran so so.....barn tries to get her a.m. prowess out of her in the p.m. with an equipment change to blinkers on

1  Heres Geegees Girl

race 3    way below average clarity

2  Genuine Luck   tepid top choice drops out of MSW racing to mid-priced MC and that maneuver is one of Sean McCarthy's more dangerous moves ......4 winners in his last 16

6  Blue Chat   moved forward some in last in her 2nd lifetime start and 1st for Hess........and her a.m. work since hints she well even show more today.......1st at a route but she owns an adequate pedigree to handle one

8  Chalking It Up   blinkers off after running 2nd in the version of this race on 15 Oct.......the equipment change seems strange to yours truly.....maybe they want to take back some more as she flattened out late despite sitting up on a pedestrian pace

4  Knightwithputnam

race 4    average clarity

4  Wake Up Mick   believe he lives up to his name today 1st time up for a tag.....toss out last off of the long layoff and at a goofy track........5 for 5 in 2014........killer trainer/owner/rider trio in O'Neill/Reddam/Gutierrez

2  Great Lou   last sure fits and this Hollendorfer three-year old gelding is an impressive (6 4 1 1) at today's 6 furlong distance.....that'll do

7  Hot Lightning   at his best sprinting and I believe the connections have figured that out......like that he is in for 45K to get in at 116 lbs.....last two races are better than appear in print especially his effort two back

6  London Legacy

race 5    average clarity

4  I'm Zoning   talk about being on the right end of the learning curve......last fits.....and more today ......it would take a bad trip to stop him

2  Next Book   cold trainer hadn't won two in one day in many a moon....that is until Friday when he won 2 his only 2 at the Dmr meeting....both shocked me......strong race 3 back both in pace and final time at Dmr and at 5 1/2F

6  Formally Wild   blinkers off......cut back in distance.....and 1st out following an O'Neill claim........all seem like positives and might add up to a visit to the cirlcle of joy

3  Papa's Playboy

Long-shot consideration:   8  Eagle Rock   meets leading rider is up for Denise Breuer who just snatched this three year old at the claiming box.....not much in last but race 2 back fits......and the works for his new trainer hint that he might rebound to that effort

race 6    below average clarity

7  Osceola Pond   gelding is on the improve and both the trainer and rider are as well following a drought......smooth runner to boot

3  Tusk    has the advantage of running 3 lifetime grass routes.....would have been top choice if he had shown more than one work since his last which was 4 1/2 weeks ago at Kee.......Smith's lone mount of the day....usually a good thing

5  Ninety One Asset   La bred 1st starter in S Cal......yikes.....but shows a strong work regiment and owns a good grass pedigree......and if anyone is going to pull this off you might guess it would be team Desormeaux

1  The Topester    SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE

Long-shot consideration:  6 Papa Gulf   lagged way back in MSW debut which was down the hill.....showed life closing down about 12 lengths.....lookout if the race was a public workout......excellent route breeding.....dangerous

race 7    average clarity

10  Power Jam   powerful winning MSW debut both in pace and final time way back on Valentines day........working exceptionaly well for Baffert.....seems up for another eye popping run in start number two

1  Logan's Moon   laid up since March by the Eurton barn who is firing on all cylinders.......won from the 1 post at 6 1/2 furlongs last winter in excellent time.......seems like the most dangerous of the off pace runners in a race with plenty of speed

4  Sir Samson   last appeared to be a needed layoff run.......supported by improved works since......need race 3 back.....good shot here if he is up to it

5  Oligarch

race 8    average clarity

3  Our Pure Creation   since Val Brinkerhoff took over the training of this mare she ran her best lifetime dirt route and then in her latest her best lifetime sprint.....and that sprint was a stronge effort/ fig.......stout back to back bullet drills at Tup since......seems to have held her good form

4  Wild in the Saddle   7F hasn't been her best distance but she is 2 for 2 with today's rider aboard and she has won her last 3 one mile races at only a furlong further......Baltas has put some speed into her to adjust to the extended one turn sprint.....believe we will see her best 7F race to date

6  Yanna   runs her best when see is able to lead or at least have contact to the front runners.......and it sure seems like she has enough early speed to be on the lead or awfully close to it.....and like our 2nd pick Spawr has also wisely put in a couple of speed drills to help her adjust to a sprint which she hasn't seen since March

1  Kiss At Midnight

race 9    average clarity

7  Tristan's Trilogy   like the switch in jocks to the red-hot Gonzalez who has been on mostly live mounts for Miller........nice grass race down the hill in last especailly impressive pace wise.......looks prominent from the bell and with the rails in a position conducive to speed

2  Archaeo   big wake-up 1st on the sod in a race down the hill.....and owns a pedigree that should be even better for a route.......very dangerous with a good post and grass rider in Nakatani

3  Trust Your Gut   showed ability in last his 1st on the sod and 1st following the Glatt claim.......sprint-sprint-route scenario.....dangerous

5  Gabo's Macondo

9  I'm Not Bullish

4  Strong Values
