Santa Anita for Wednesday 30 December 2015

Average card at best this afternoon.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

4  I'm Not Bullish   might handle the dirt as well as he does the turf and if that is true he looks solid in this spot as his lone route race is strong for the given level and disguised by way too wide of a trip

2  Passau   flashed suicidal early speed in his latest (in a turf route) and rightfully tired........improved recent a.m. work.......2nd out after a layoff.......and appears loose on the lead.......stout Keith & Kent brother team

5  Timber King   useful likely needed layoff run in last.......rather sure he moves forward today........not so sure he will handle a route......not impossible if he does

race 2    average clarity

6  Kiss My Face   might be at his best at Santa Anita.......both lifetime 7F races are two of his lifetime best.......7 lbs weight break with bug boy up.......youngster needs to start producing......maybe he can get the ball rolling here

1  Chicago Angel   best at SA and handles the somewhat specialty distance of 7 furlongs........but.......sure likes to hang in the stretch

2  Just Bookin   fairly consistent sort but she has something to prove going as far as 7F.......but the again she gets the best rider on her back in her lifetime and by quite a bit

race 3   average clarity

2  My Silver Cat    on the right end of the learning curve.......and 1 for 1 at SA.......back to Talamo who owns both of this fillies lifetime victories.......should press the issue from the get go

4  Secret Appeal   all of her lifetime dirt races fit in this spot.......good history with Maldonado up with 2 wins and a 2nd in three lifetime mounts

6  Exposure   dangerous laid up drop down for Baffert and company.......the kind you can considering using at the windows but wouldn't want to claim.....Baffert is quite a bit better than average with "fresh" dropping runners

1  Racing for Chasen

race 4    below average clarity

3  Odisseia   Miller isn't afraid to lose a horse so the drop here to the  25,000 level (and to 22,500 with this gal to get 2 lbs off) seems more significant than usual......and getting to the winners circle with a speed horse is right up the trainer's alley

4  Diamond Cut   seems at her best at today's 9 furlongs.......last seems like a gimme to drop and go.......Espinoza (1st of only 2 mounts for the day) staying aboard supports the notion this is  a "live" runner

9  Can Can Babe   won for fun getting away with a "joke" of a slow set of fractions loose on the lead......might feel great this afternoon following such a stress-less pace/race

8  Shysheisnot

race 5   average clarity

3  Formally Wild  decent shot to be the front-runner here and lookout if he is as he is (4 2 2 0) on conventional dirt when he gets the lead when not wearing blinkers.......trainer/rider are 3 for their last 7 over the last two months

1  Carlot Cowboy   five-year old gelding seems to be on a rebound of sorts........route racing has been his meal ticket for quite some tome but he is capable of sprinting successfully as well.....including 1 for 2 lifetime at today's distance

8  Pat the Bear   obviously a disappointing claim for the connections.......but......they give their new shooter some time to recover and drop well below the $25K they snatched him for.........dropping to cut the red ink..........we shall see

7  Ultimate Luck

race 6    above average clarity

5  Sunday Rules   capable of setting incredibly fast fractions and still hold together.......believe the 6 horse is the only one capable of going with her but she is taking the blinkers off today hinting that her connections want to slow her down in the early stages....if that is correct this filly should be loose ......and she is 5 for 5 when loose

1  Kiss At Midnight   three-year old filly is (5 2 3 0) sprinting since Baltas took over.......late runner should get plenty of heat up front to flatter her late run......and with one of the nation's top jocks when it comes to handling a late running sprinter

2  Tara's Tango    usually consistent three-year old filly tossed a clunker out East in her as if she can rebound this afternoon and rebound on a track she seems to appreciate

7  Wasted At Midnight

race 7   average clarity

(#11  Chati's On Top  has a shot if draws into the field)

8  Paulina's Love    good history with ample time between starts and Richard Baltas shows patience and gives it to her here.......good history on the SA lawn......lone mount of the day for Stevens who appears to be feeling good right now

2  Gusto Dolce   dangerous rider/trainer team in Prat/Mandella.........six year old mare should be able to get a nice ground saving mid pack position at least thru turn one.....and that folks is 1/2 the battle to get to winners circle

7  Spirit of Ten   dull race in latest attempting a 1 1/16th on the sod.......won her previous 3 all at one mile on the grass.....back to that distance today.....retains Baze for a fifth straight race

9  More Than Less

race 8    average clarity

3  Award It   best ever was her MSW debut and that is very running off of a 2 month layoff might bring the best out of her.......and Richard Mandella is stout 2nd time Lasix and 2nd time blinkers on.....both the case today

1  She's A Warrior   fell off some in 2nd lifetime start following a strong 25 to 1 MSW debut 2nd place finish.......1st at a route today is a question mark.....but.....the way Eurton/Gutierrez have teamed up the last 3 months or so it seems likely this filly will handle the challenge of two turns

9  Dreamarcher   solid wake-up 1st time with the blinkers on her latest........and she finished up as if another 1/16th will be a plus for her

5  Ceeme Run Wild

4  Escalante

8  Notorious Nicole
