Santa Anita for Friday 19 February 2016

Seems like an average card at best but I sure like that our top selection is only the favorite in one race that race being the 8th.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    below average clarity

4  Buttercup Gold    very aggressive work regiment with a steady diet of strong 6F drills with the latest only 5 days ago.....Hollendorfer appears to have this laid up filly all wound up and ready to go

2  Little Bit Lovely   seems like a good sign that the connections scratched out of a softer spot on Sunday to run here.......GP invader seems to appreciate very firm turf......welcome to S on the front end and needs to put away the 3rd choice to get it

1  Dreamologist    tried the hill for the 1st time and won like a good thing.....and maybe more importantly learned to rate......might let the 2 horse go to the lead and thus sit in a nice stalk position

race 2    average clarity

2 Aloha Ke Akua   claimed in her latest out of a fast heat by Sierra who is better than average 1st following a claim......seems likely to get a ground saving mid pack or stalk position behind what should be a lively pace.........filly has only been on the SA dirt twice and the two efforts are the best of her career

1  Fast Magoo   lead type only has a more difficult post to cope with this time but she still might grab the lead here.....strong fig in last but somewhat false as but she benefited from a strong rail bias conducive to speed......still very dangerous at her favorite distance

5  Smil'n From Above   best of the off pace runners and only a small field to cope with.....bug boy should find it easy to negotiate a trouble-free trip.......should fly late but sure likes to hang (69 2 16 15)

race 3    below average clarity

4  Feynman   Kruljac is often at his most dangerous 3rd out following a layoff and that is the case trainer/rider combo - 5 for 11 in the win column over the last couple of months

2  Walking On Water   lone lifetime race way back in June was impressive as he broke bad and ran wide and still managed to close fast for 3rd.......returns with the meets top gun up......and Cerin has been firing on all in 9 for 27 at the meet so far

8  Attack   by far at his best at Santa Anita.......exits a very fast heat of bottom level maiden claimers where getting beat by almost 9L with not so hot of a trip (one slow out of the gate and 3 wide) worked out to an adjusted for trouble fig that was a couple of lengths better than par

6  Anda

race 4    average clarity

3  Glory Bound    conditions of this race fit this three-year old gelding well.........he has been facing better and gets a spot where he can't be claimed.....such a deal......cut back in distance is a plus

6  Mr. Opportunist   set a very fast pace in his MC debut and crushed the field by a distorted margin with the aid of a rail bias.....but that doesn't diminish his solid early speed......seems loose and if he is he will be tough to catch

4  American League   has a win and a 2nd in two races since the blinkers became part of his equipment.......and his a.m prowess hints he continues to be doing well.....seems likely to sit behind our 2nd choice in a nice ground saving stalk position

5  Twirling Tiger

race 5   average clarity

4  Our First Girl   both lifetime races were down the SA hill and quite good......and she is bred to love a distance of ground........only mount of the day for s very selective (at rightfully so at his age) Gary Stevens

3  Shezroxlie    very solid better than par turf sprint debut.......and her pedigree to handle a turf route is quite good.......and one of the trainers better stats and return on investment is 1st time he runs a given horse at a route.....Baze wisely sticks with the youngster

10  La Boheme   broke poorly or would have won his 1st effort in the USA after beginning her career in GB........if she breaks well today she has a chance to use his tactical speed to get over some by turn one from a tough post......might be the one to beat if she does

8  Rue de Cry

race 6    average clarity

7  Passau   last is OK but what we are looking for is a rebound to his effort two back which is very stout and would likely leave only our 2nd choice to overcome

2  Courageous Dave   not the best of trips in latest hides an effort that sure would fit here if Gutierrez works out a better trip........drop seems logical as he was taken for $25K and has only earned chump change so far

4  Yes I'm Wild   nice history when competing at 5 1/2 furlongs on conventional dirt (3 1 2 0) trainer/rider team the last two months in Bonde/Delgadillo (2 for 6 with 3 others in the money)

6  Redneck Crazy

race 7    average clarity

6  Everqueen   very impressive forward move in latest supported by large gaps to 2nd and 3rd.......two strong 4 furlong works since.......feeling good and seemingly very ready for battle

3  Treasuring   needs a confidence builder and Baffert smartly gives her one here.......last time not competing in a Stakes race led to a 7 1/4 length maiden breaking win........and Mr. B is red-hot at the moment

7  Asian's Way   very solid MSW win 2 back.......regressed in her 2nd start but maybe because Baltas pushed the envelope too much bringing her back in too short of rest.......stout 5F drill one week ago........I smell a rebound

5  Instant Drama

race 8    average clarity

10  Aren Vaughn  Scratched out of the race

8  Eight Spokes   strong layoff win on the grass in June.......been away since.........very strong works say ready......and the connections very likely know they need to have her fanny ready as it might be months (not days) until she can handle the rigors of a race once again

2  Misty'sviewthegold   84 to 1 1st on the sod shocker in her last running an impressive 3rd off of a 10 month hiatus.......low percentage trainer but not 2nd out after a layoff where he is 18% win and 55% in the money with his last 22.........very dangerous with a logical forward move

7  Kronwall

1  Woody's Folly

3  Pop'sracer
