Note that early bird sign-up (where you can save a few bucks) for full card Ky Derby day selections will be available very soon.

Two plus months into the Santa Anita meeting and we are sitting on a profit of 12% with our 342 top selections.

Check out the 2016 California racing calendar for The Racing Digest especially the dates that our publication will not be available. Also check out our 2016 Special Publications located under site information.

Had to study for off the grass this morning because the LA radar looked more ominous than the forecast thus it left little time for a full set comments in all the grass races.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

(if off the grass 10-4-1-2-6)

10  Ketos   1st on the sod but owns a very good pedigree for it........and plenty of advantages early speed....should be in the this from start to finish if he lives up to his turf breeding

1  Best Two Minutes   trainer has been very live with his limited starts at the meet........four year old has handled the hill and has run well when fresh in the past

4  Atypique

3  True Image

race 2    average clarity

9  Brother Soldier   layoff last appeared to be an over his head tune-up to put some doubts into the heads of the claiming drop and go 2nd out after an extended hiatus from the game

8  London Legacy   Miller has been very reliable 1st out following a claim the last 6 months or so and especially when he drops following a claim........8 for his last 14.......and look who he entices to ride

4  Pure Loyalty   up the track in a public workout in last.......full throttle go today........and at 1/2 the claiming price

1  True Ten

race 3    average clarity

5  Fans On the Run    MC debut last is better than appears in print and the fact he went off at 31 to 1 odds strongly suggests he wasn't all the cranked up and that more should occur this afternoon.....and his a.m. since his debut sure supports the notion

1  It's Just Bob   on the improve and drops......a touch leery that he might be somewhat off.......but......Bonde is in win mode so maybe he has remained in good form......fits solidly if he has

2  Hoosier Road   tough trip in MC debut or could have been "right there" at the wire.......was pounded to favorite so likely he was very well prepared and our 2nd choice I am a little leery that he is returning the same individaul......but the one to beat if he is and gets a better trip

4  Dramatic Angel

race 4    average clarity

(if off of the grass  7-11-1-2-12)

7  She's a Warrior   beat 1/2 the field in a Grade 2 and was only beaten by 10L but Songbird (see race 5).......still a maiden......1st on the sod but mom has tossed 2 grass winners from 5 starters.....should be a solid competitor here if she takes to the green carpet

1  Quigley's Corner   last is better than drill.....very good turf pedigree....switch in surfaces should be a plus

2  Madame Belle

9  Queen Scheherazade

race 5   above  average clarity

6  Songbird   S Cal has been cranking out the top females in the nation for quite some in Zenyatta - Beholder - and now Songbird.........filly is so much the best here she would have to blow a gasket or get a trip from you know where not to dominate this from start to finish

2  Land Over Sea   surprised the connections haven't shipped to get away from the freak that Songbird is.......although running 2nd & 3rd in two Grade 1's and 2nd in a Grade 2 solidifies her value for her future as a broodmare

9  Not Now Carolyn   vaulted forward to break her maiden 1st time running a route of ground in her last......earned a solid fig.....likely needs to avoid any kind of duel with the 1 to 9 ML favorite

1  My Dynamo

race 6    average clarity

7  Hard Night's Day   lifetime best and disguised by about 8L of trip trouble was his last dirt race at SA which was run three running lines back........away for 7 weeks but working as if he is feeling great.......good rider/trainer combo the last few months in Garcia and Jerry H

3  Savannah Sky   one win and two 2nd's in 3 route endeavors at SA.....could have been 3 for 3 win if he hadn't had 2 bad trips when running 2nd.........away since April but Baltas is as good as anyone at getting a horse ready to perform well at a route fresh off of the bench

8  Sheer Pleasure   better horse running a route of ground (on the dirt) and finally gets back to of his two lifetime dirt routes might get the job done....and the other would be tough to beat.....not sure what he will give today but either way he is a major player here

1  Two Taps

race 7    average clarity

3  Dreaming of Gold    appreciates ample time between starts and gets it.....cut back in distance is a plus......but what I really like is his blistering 5/8th best of 89 bullet work just 6 days ago.......seems poised for best

11  John's Success    post 10 and out has been horrid on the grass in routes at SA this meeting but this four-year old has tactical speed and the red-hot Bejarano remains aboard.....and if if anyone can overcome a tough post Raffy can

7  Royal Albert Hall   been racing vs. much tougher and could use a confidence builder.........gets it today and a rider upgrade.....not out of this by any means

2  Excessive Kid

race 8    below average clarity

8  Seattle Serenade   nobody in this affair appears capable of breaking 109 flat and this Jerry H. undefeated colt did it in his 2nd lifetime start......seems to have had a minor set back in training but his recent stout bullet 6F gate work at LA hints he's fully back

10  Texas Two Step   toss out last couple of races as he caught 2 off tracks in a row (that's hard to do in S Cal).........he has trained exceptionally well since arriving in the Miller barn and has a shot to show what he's got today

12  American Pride   loves SA on a fast surface.......3 for 3 in the win column.........nice stalking style........would have rated higher if he had drawn a better post ........a couple of late scratches should help his chances

7  Solid Wager

Long-shot consideration:   11  Chief Lion   2 of his last 3 6 1/2F fast rated track efforts fit decently here and his only race at 7F isn't bad.......very impressive preparatory drills......rider upgrade.......not impossible at a big price

race 9    average clarity

4  Zim N the Mailman   predictable bad wide trip in his last from a nasty post in which to start from at one mile........good post today and drops in claiming......same effort/energy and the winners circle seems very doable

6  Book Thirty Four   quite usual for O'Neill to work a conditioned low-level claimer 7 furlongs......hints he wants more finish from his four-year old today..........and plenty of speed signed up can flatter his late running style

8  Lucky Shoes to Win   last might do the trick but what we want is his race 2 back which was at today's 1 1/16th improved recent 4F drill hints we might get the effort two back

9  Ladies Man

7  Dato Pimiento

2  Vartan
