Santa Anita for Sunday 6 March 2015

Two plus months into the Santa Anita meeting and we are sitting on a profit of 11% with our 351 top selections.

Check out the 2016 California racing calendar for The Racing Digest especially the dates that our publication will not be available. Also check out our 2016 Special Publications located under site information.

Note that early bird sign-up (where you can save a few bucks) for full card Ky Derby day selections will be available very soon.

The last time we had a drying out track was on 7 Jan and we had a rail speed bias. So take note of the early races to see if that occurs again today.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

5  Justonemoerthing   doubt going as far as 7 panels is his cup of tea yet he still managed 2nd albeit vs easier ......cut back of a furlong and one half likely will be a major plus for is first time Bejarano is 1st out of off of the Baltas claim

6  Alpine Luck   nicely improved since the blinkers were put on 3 races back.......would have been top choice if he was a little more proven running well off of something other than short rest

1  Atta Boy Pete   good history 2nd out after a layoff in the past......that is the case for today and in a protected (non claiming) race to boot......and he might feel good coming off of a grass race

race 2    average clarity  (if stays on the turf)

7  Infinite Magic   very solid 1st down the hill in latest for this Mullins six-year-old gelding.......ran 2nd at today's level despite a wide trip......T C Baze will be out to make amends

race 2   average clarity  (if taken off of the turf)

11  Karma King   believe the barn saw the forecast and smartly entered this guy in this race hoping it would be moved off of the turf as his turf races are dismal...... solidly improved since Sherlock claimed 3 races back.....deservedly steps up and does so vs mostly turf types

race 3    average clarity

2  Tribal Jewel   check for the fronts remaining off as this Baltas runner has run two solid for the level efforts the last two times he raced without fronts.....3 wide in latest or could have won at this level which was 1st out after the Baltas claim......nice work series since.......same of better seem likely this afternoon

3  Perfect Set  last race (somewhat disappointing 3rd) set up for his off pace style and this race has a shot for that to occur here as well.......what we want is his effort 2 back........we get a rider change to the red-hot Bejarano who has opened up a substantial lead in the jockey standings with a couple of hot riding weeks in a row

1  Anxious Times   just claimed by Glatt and he gets Stevens to ride and that seems significant as it is the rider's lone mount of the day......and the drills since Glatt took over are impoved........hinting the veteran trainer might own the trump card for this six-year-old gelding

4  Toledo Eddie

race 4    below average clarity

4  Black Tie 'n Tails   here is the comment for a successful Mulhall 1st starter last weekend as our top choice......"sure seems ready to roll........Mulhall is rather poor with 1st timers but this one is working well enough to break the mold" .......solid drills once again and in for $40K to take weight off and why not as this four-year old went for only $2.5K in July

2  Captain Akers   away since September but if he is fully ready fresh he sure fits well here as all 4 lifetime races with the blinkers on in sprints are solid here......1st time Maldonado hints it will full throttle from the get go.....and fresh speed is dangerous speed

9  Pat's Inheritance   Koriner was decent with 1sters years ago but dismal the last 3 years or so........but the drills for this 1st timer by a new sire off to a hot start are too good to ignore

5  Keeping the Faith

race 5    average clarity

1  Lieutenant Colonel   2 for 3 lifetime routing on the dirt.......just fired lifetime best with 1st time Bejarano up......and the works since are vastly improved......feel strongly he moves forward again for Hollendorfer and company

4  Rockport Kat   horrid race........winning race.........horrid race.........winning race..........horrid race..........hmmmmm

2  Just Kidding   consistent sort when racing at Santa Anita......and he seems likely to get a nice mid pack ground saving trip......continues to train like a happy healthy individual

3  Ike Walker

Long-shot consideration:   5  Verraco   nice wake up two back and that effort would have a shot here.......fell off in his latest.....but.......he is 3 for 5 at SA so a rebound has a better than average chance of occurring......and choosy Mike Smith accepts the mount

race 6    average clarity

9  Hoffenheim   by far at his best at SA in route races.............his race 2 back his last effort running at SA was one strong time/figure and supported by a gap of 10 lengths to 3rd......would have rated this race "above average clarity" if he a drawn a better post

2  One More Round    rightfully tired after setting a blistering pace at 7F in his last.......sure appears as loose as he wants here......very dangerous if he doesn't run off for Talamo who needs to ration his speed to get the 9 is speed doing on the drying out track so far?

3  Feldini   darn decent effort considering he went off at 71 to 1 in his MSW debut.......likely surprized his connections some......1st at a route should be a good fit with a stout pedigree for one

5  Inhibition

race 7    below average clarity

9  So Elite   solid sprint tune-up (very fast heat of 8K runners on a sloppy track) off of the extended hiatus from racing should set him up nicely for today's route endeavor.......fairly hot rider/trainer combo in Delgadillo/Bonde.......plenty of speed signed up should aid his late running style

6  Celebrity Status   last sure fits with the drop to the bottom and 1st time Gonzalez........would have been top choice if this race was 1/16th less as he tends to flatten some past one mile

3  Cant Do The Dance   seems best on convention dirt (3 for 7)......drop of only 2K in claiming price doesn't concern me much following the Knapp claim as a win would still make for a solid profit even if they lost him by way of claim....and 2nd would be basically a break even proposition

5  El Nino Terrible

Long-shot consideration:   8  Being There   might be a good claim of an improving N Cal runner by Brocklebank and friends........gelding owns a record 0f (3 1 1 1) on conventional dirt......and a very sharp improved drill at SA a week ago hints he is doing well for his new connections

race 8    average clarity

4  Shy Carmelita   nice MSW win at 1st asking overcoming a tough trip and still getting up to win from far back......that effort with a clean trip has a decent shot of taking down this race.......plenty of speed signed up in this race to flatter her off pace style......rider upgrade to boot

5  Later My Love   away since August but hard to be training any better.....and she is proven fresh as it is hard to get any fresher than your debut which she won......and she appears to be speed of the speed

7  Sambamzajammin   toss out last.....broke slow from the a tough post and rushed up on a slightly dead rail and rightfully tired.....better post and usually breaks well.....race two back fits.....seemingly has a decent shot to rebound to it

2  Skye Diamonds

race 9    average clarity

9  Summer Chat   very solid work regiment for the given level for this Victor Garcia first time starter especially after he stepped on the SA racing surface.......plenty of endurance put in.......should have something left when push comes to shove in late stretch

5  Lucky Days Ahead   Miller is stout historically speaking with MC 1st timers (25 % win and 48% in the money with his last 71) are up to has tossed 3 winners from 4 starters

3  Blix Curve   not much in last but his race 2 back was impressive where he beat 7 of 11 foes despite breaking about 1/2 dozen slow and then running wide......same effort/energy combined with a good trip and a visit to the circle of joy is doable

8  Got Tobe Awesome

2  Cheap O Charlie

7  Multiple Sums
