Decent looking 9 race card this afternoon. Be back with you on Thursday.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

4  Aikau   sharp work tab put in for his maiden debut 5 yr old....showing plenty of speed in those works which should be a plus in this abbreviated 5F sprint race.......rider/trainer are 3 for 8 with 4 others in the money over the last couple of months as a team

5  Stormin Trick   trainer is struggling some but might get things jump started here with this laid up 4 yr old gelding who has some early speed and runs for the lowest level of his career

2  Granny's Bling   bet hard in maiden debut but tossed a clunker........trainer has had a very good meeting and her 2nd time starter just tossed a bullet 3F gate work.....deserves another shot?.......too dangerous looking to ignore

1  Concorso

race 2    average clarity

2  Taima the Hawk   35 to 1 in MSW tirf debut screams tune-up/gimme......returns for his 2nd start on the dirt as a 1st time gelding and drops to the bottom MC20K level......and 2 of his 3 works since his debut suggest the surgery has done as intended

10  The Silent One   on the improve with every start and the 7F distance should be a plus with his pedigree and it won't be for many of his foes in this extended sprint race

8  Wondering Ways   eased in stretch in last but appeared fine to me........2 reassuring 5F drills since.....race 2 back fits......trainer is 20% win with his last 58 sprint-route-sprint runners

9  Star Express

race 3    above average clarity

3  Fantastic Style   5 for 5 racing in California and 4 of those wins were at Santa Anita........away since Mid July but works as if Baffert has his stout 4 yr ols filly ready to rock and roll

2  Sensitively   broke the 109 barrier in a stellar performance in her latest........more than deserving of a shot in a Graded race.....and carries 4 lbs less today......splitting hairs with my top two choices

6  Cadet Roni   Bejarano elected to ride the top pick but Stevens will do......filly is 4 for 6 since adding blinkers......seems capable of taking back some and that appears wise in this race loaded with speed

race 4    average clarity

(14 AE has a shot if draws into the field)

7  Mining Diamonds   last sure appears to be a gimme and a gimme where this filly showed some brilliant early speed on the dirt.......bug boy upgrade for today and switches to the grass where she belongs........mom has tossed 5 grass winners from 8 starters.......should be in the hunt some the opening bell

8  Gust   double barrel action from Miller as he also trains our top selection......last on the dirt fits fig wise........new sire has a hot start as far has tossing decent grass runners......very dangerous

4  Lori's Attitude   Gaines 1st time starter seems somewhat ready and her 3 yr old filly owns decent grass breeding.......and Carla is a stout 20% win with her last 30 turf debut starters......dangerous

9  Yellow Bonnet

Long-shot consideration:   3  Angel On Point   showed life in MSW debut which was also down the SA hill closing well down the stretch despite a ridiculously slow pace to close into.......1st time Lasix today.......and the trainer is a decent 15% with 2nd time starters

race 5    below average clarity

7  Seeking the Sherif   needs time and his trainer Ron Ellis shows patience and gives it to him......by far at his best running six panels (7 for 12 win)......good history with today's rider Maldonado

4  Airfoil   on the rebound since the blinkers were added 3 races back......like the fact that his trainer sees fit to step him up one level following a successful two level step up in his latest......feeling good

2  Chief Lion     was training sharply prior to his latest but maybe a little too sharp as he got involved early with a suicidal pace and tired late.......see ya Prat...... hello Baze who owns the last win for this fellow 3 races back stalking the lead which he is likely to do today

1  Follini

Long-shot consideration:   9  Carlot Cowboy   strange "Z pattern" running line for this guy.......he pressed a brutal quarter and then fell back only to end up finishing well....that hints he is in good physical shape.....and since the race he drilled an eye-popping 58:4 bullet at SA......and steps up 3 levels.....might be feeling even better

race 6    average clarity

2  Gotham News   decent dirt race off of the extended hiatus 1st under the guidance of Phil D'Amato......that race sets things up nicely for today's one mile grsas race......as does his work regiment that has been very aggressive hitting the track every 5 or 6 days.....feeling good....retains meets top gun

3  Boozer   seems likely to get a nice ground saving trip with a Hall of Fame jock as his pilot.....hard to be much more consistent as his record on the grass is (19 6 4 4)

5  Perfectly Majestic   another consistent sort on the grass ((10 2 2 5) and with a rider who has a good history on his back.......seems like a major player

1  De Treville

Long-shot consideration:   4  Persuasive Paul   good effort (1st out for Marc Shapoff as the trainer) at the distance of 1 1/8th on the grass.......and today he gets to race at his favorite turf distance of one mile.......owns 3 wins and 2 2nd's in 6 races at one mile

race 7    average clarity

1  Pete's Play Call   impressive move forward in latest and the effort is better than appears in print........raced 3 wide thru turn one up on a nasty pace.....did well to hang on for a one beaten length 3rd......now steps up a notch in maiden claiming......that signals that he exited the race in good condition......should be in the mix from the get go once again

6  Latest Craze   MSW debut fits solidly for this Baffert colt but it is somewhat concerning this fellow is now up for a tag......should be stout if he is still in good physical shape.....tough call

5  Trinitas Soldier   no shot in latest in a MSW dirt route as he raced way too wide and it was also a very fast heat........away 8 weeks but with an impressive set of mostly 6F drills in the meantime.....facing easier today.....not out of this by any means

8  Opportunistic

race 8    below average clarity

5  Denman's Call   impressive 3rd vs a pair of the better 3-year-old runners in the USA....... and it was only his 2nd lifetime start.....faces easier today.....like that O'Neill gives him a confidence builder so he doesn't forget that winning experience

2  He's a Tiger   cut back in distance......1st race off of short rest......and 1st blinkers with recent works improved.....all add up for a shot at a significant rebound today

4  Boldly True   on the improve and his works since his latest have improved quite a bit.....rather sure he is ready for another forward move this afternoon for Hollendorfer and company

1  Mt Veeder

race 9    average clarity

2  Seedsandstemsagain   powerful race down the SA hill turf course in last 1st time with Gonzo in the irons......1 1/8th turf race vs open race prior to that isn't too shabby either and with a struggling bug boy up........seems highly likely to sit 1st 2nd or 3rd saving ground..... and one mile should fit him well

3  Aren Vaughn   good MSW grass win down the hill to graduate in his latest............solid work series since beefing up his endurance for his 1st at a route.....owns a decent pedigree to appreciate 8 furlongs on the sod

1  Larry Birdstone   seems best at the one mile distance......seems best wearing blinkers.......seems best on the grass.......gets all three here as he did when he graduated in his last effort

4  Fishel

7  Broken Up

6  Woody's Folly
