Del Mar for Sunday 20 November 2016

Thursday's publication will be available by 6 a.m pacific time for your convenience because of the early post at Del Mar on Thanksgiving Day.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

7  Avicii   hot trainer in Puype......five year old mare likes Del Mar but she isn't too crazy about Santa Anita.......connections likely will pull out all stops to have her ready as summer and the next Del Mar meeting is a long time away

1  Zuzu's Petals   another who likes Dmr.......good history at today's distance.......low percentage rider but not on this gal

5  Queenofhercastle   very strong race/fig in her last.......but.......the last time she popped a similar effort she regressed in her next start.......if she doesn't this time she is the one to beat

6  Desert Thief

race 2    below average clarity

6  Red Car Mac   away since 25 September but sure is working like trainer Bellocq has found the trump card for this fellow......only time this colt found the lead on the dirt he wired by 5 1/4L......appears to have only one other speed horse to put away in the 4 horse......right guy to get the job accomplished in Pedroza

7  Radio Silent   both Del Mar route races are good.......Alex Solis only takes a few mounts a week these days but they are usually "live" ones......inluding 1 win and 1 2nd in two mounts riding for Sise over the last couple of months

4  Curly Road   like our top choice my guess is this fellow will attempt to kick free early and attempt to go gate to wire.......obviously I will have my fingers crossed that the 4 and the 6 don't end up going head to head

2  Lamu

race 3    above average clarity

5  Divine Spark   showed very good speed in her MSW debut especially considering she is a filly two-year old Cal-bred.........with the cut back in distance and with one race under her belt she has a solid opportunity to do better than her 2nd place finish in her debut

4  Sircat Sally   can't say this about too many barns but you can for Jerry's barn......his solid works at LA usually carry over to the "big track"....inotherwards they fire strong debuts.......Smith up.......strong gate drills at has tossed two winners from 2 starters.......rather sure she is ready to roll

8  Li'l Grazen   all signs point to this youngster's MSW debut being a gimme.....and not a bad one at that as she showed life after a very poor start.....sire is good and mom has tossed runners.....dangerous 2nd time starter and for a trainer off to a hot start at the Dmr meeting

6  Veiled Heat

race 4    below average clarity

(AE 10  Siler Mojave   has a shot if draws into field)

7  Papa Mambo   very fast 6F split in a one mile grass race at Dmr in August....easily the fastest of 7 two turn races run over a 3 day span all at the same rail position........and she has led at the 5F mark of her last 3 dirt races.......good post and a decent speed rider....should be in the mix from the get go

5  Pied N True   this filly really finishes up her races with a flourish........1st on th sod but bred to handle it.........should be motoring impressively fast in the late stages if she does

4  Trust Ur Intuition   proven in these 5F abbreviated turf sprints with 3 2nd's and a 3rd in 6 of them and many with tough trips......rider is ice cold but has a shot to jump start things here

9  Algorhythmic

Long-shot consideration:  2  All For Charity   dropped and took the blinkers off in last and graduated on the dirty........showed sizzling early speed on the grass in a two turn race and rightfully cashed it in....only 5F turf today.....seems dangerous

race 5    average clarity

2  Ucanthankmelater   smooth looking two-year old route runner stepped up one MC level and ran a nice 2nd.....steps up again indicating he might be feeling even better.....same post - rider - distance....hard not to see him being a significant player in this affair

1  T. Montana   gelded since his last and working rather well......Miller who had a big day yesterday puts the 7 lbs bug boy up and enters for 40K to get two more lbs off.....trainer sure seems to mean business.......kid with only 111 lbs to carry will attempt to fly and never look back

5  Lyrical Passage   obviously is dangerous dropping out of the MSW ranks but I am a touch leery of the drop as he didn't come cheap and hasn't run that poorly both on the dirt and the turf........but on other hand Callaghan is decent dropping out of MSW to maiden claiming

6  Brother Jack

race 6    above average clarity

7  Blue Anchor   just keeps getting better........and better.........and better......and better........and.....all three lifetime scores were at today's 6F.......and Blue Anchor has a good record on the Dmr dirt to boot (3 1 2 0)

10  Well Measured    2 for 2 on the Del Mar conventional rider/trainer combo in Baze/Miller.........seems likely to get a nice stalking spot behind our top selection and maybe one other .......sure like the way T C has been riding of late

1  Paynes Prairie   seems like a nice pick-up by O'Neill.......not sure if he is ready off of the extended hiatus but sure fits in this spot if he is

4  Spanish Hombre

race 7    average clarity

5  Unapologetic   the three times this three-year old gelding has been up for a tag he fired strong races......up for $40K today which is the lowest claiming level for him yet.....and back to Prat who just missed with him at $50K two races back at Del Mar.......reassuring bullet 6F work 9 days ago.......Eurton and friends mean business as they realize they might lose the horse

7  Afleet Domination   big wake up in last and at 71 to 1.........and the a.m. work since strongly suggests this three-year old is doing even better.......drops one claiming notch.....come on Mr. Pedroza

3  Handful of Stripes   definitely appears to be the speed of the speed in this spot.......back to back solid bullet drills put in in preparation for today's one mile grass race......rider/trainer teamed up to win last night's nightcap

1  Bolitar

race 8    above average clarity

2  Magic Mark   Ron Ellis is an outstanding 8 for his last 25 racing in non Graded Stakes races......3 consecutive races for this gelding that are much better than appear in print and the races don't look too shabby in print either.......has a little something to prove at 7F or this race would have a higher clarity rating

6  Acceptance   started his career with 3 straight wins in 2014......then things went poorly.......big rebound in his latest hinting he might be back on track......3 for 5 on conventional dirt and 1 for 1 at 7F......dangerous stats

3  Image of Joplin   this five-year old gelding can really run when he brings his "A game" as he did in his last where he was claimed by Pender........blazing 4F work put in since his our top choice he has something to prove back in a one turn race........but lookout if he handles the change

7  Gold Rush Dancer

race 9    below average clarity

5  Special Gal   seems like a turf sprint tune-up for today's turf route......blinkers on is one of the DA's better trainer stats.......that is the case here as is Prat back on after being absent for two races

4  Sugary   very impressive race after stumbling at the start in her latest......and.....her two previous grass races aren't too why not top pick you say......often when a given horse stumble's in their last start they run poorly in their next........toss a coin

14 AE  Lauren's Export   dangerous if draws in with plenty of early speed to clear from a tough post....two solid reassuring works since her last

3  Shezroxiie   very impressive MSW debut down the hill way back in June......away since but some nice works for her return to the race wars.....bred well for a turf route....seems dangerous

7  Curricula

9  Could Be Magic

2  Summertimemischief
