Santa Anita for Saturday 4 March 2017

Outside of the free square in the 6th race this is one wild day with many "prices" in our selections especially in the last 4 races. Might only take one big price to make for a good outcome. Be back with you Sunday for what appears to be a good race card.

Best of Luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

2  Fueled by Bourbon   might have the best early speed in this affair void of it.....3 for 5 on the SA hill.......those 3 wins were his 1st 3 races on the hill.....next two on the hill he was beaten 3L for the win but had trip excuses in both........trainer and rider have won 2 of their last 3 as a team

3  Banza No Oesta   by far at his best racing down the majestic SA hill grass course and Miller and company likely realize that now.....not sure how ready this guy is off of the layoff or I would have made him top choice

7  American League   runs well fresh and might be able to clear all or at last sit close in a race that appears to favor those that do........dangerous Michael McCarthy four-year old gelding

6  Mister Brightside

race 2    average clarity

2  Sequentially   dropped and bet to favorite and did not dissapoint.......steps up this time but does so with works showing that hint a necessary forward move will occur......1st at a route but should get a nice ground saving trip with the meets leading jock sticking with him

8  Pampers n' Boots   three-year old gelding has started his 4 race career with consistency........1st at a route in latest and would have won if it wasn't for about 3 1/2 lengths of trip trouble......jock upgrade for today......such a deal

7  Long Game   nice improvement to break his maiden 1st out following the Antonio Garcia claim........that 7F race fits fine here if he can run as well around two turns today

9  Will Tell

race 3    average clarity

7  Bona Fide Image   poor effort 1st at a route in her latest.......filly gets to run back in a sprint for Spawr and company where her two efforts sure fit well versus this very soft looking group......and the trainer is stellar 10 for 24 at the meeting......yikes

2  Wicked Love   Cerin isn't bad with maiden claiming 1st time starters and the works for this filly have gotten progressively better......might be peaking when it counts the most......... as in right before her maiden debut

8  Bella Be Quick   so far in her 3 race career she has burned up a lot of cash.......but the D'A gives her a little more time between races and he has put in 4 works into her since her last........should sit close or might even be on the lead.......that's good but the extra 1/2 furlong to cover might not be......deserves one more chance?

4  American Rhiannon

Long-shot consideration:   3  Majestic Diva   new trainer for today and he has managed to get much more out of this filly in the a.m.......and he changes riders making for a rider upgrade.....small barns go off big prices and especially on Saturday

race 4    below average clarity

1  Te Rapa   last two times this elder statesman ran fresh off of long layoffs he ran strong efforts and both are somewhat hidden......drops to the lowest available claiming level for turf races at SA......and that makes sense at this gelding is now nine years old........gelding sure is getting used to the 1 post as this is 5th time he has drawn it in his last 6 races

9  Bronzino   last two wins came off of two weeks rest and that is the amount of time off for today.......and he sure appears to have enough speed to clear the field and grab the front end despite breaking from post 9......dangerous potential lone speed here

3  Tattenham   mid pack runner will likely work out a good trip especially with Desormeaux up who knows this 7 yr old gelding fairly well.......not impossible here if he does

2  Malko

race 5    average clarity

3  Antinanco   broke slowly and then rushed some to press a hot pace......did well to run 3rd........significant rider upgrade today......sharp improved 4F work since.......would love to get 10 to 1 ML

1  Justonemorething   very deserving step up of one level as he won for 6,250 in his latest despite running wide and getting blocked about a length........same rider - post - distance......such a deal

9  London Legacy   trainer is 30% win & 64% in the money with his last 44 dropping multiple levels.......16K to 8K qualifies for that......10 lbs bug boy seems worth the weight back as he is riding OK

5  Eddie's First

race 6    above average clarity

1  Unique Bella   last which was her 1st at a route is off the charts......if she runs as well today the connections would be crazy not to run in the Ky Derby.......she is bred to get the 10 grueling furlongs on the first Saturday in May at Churchill especially with the weight break of being a filly

7  Abel Tasman   her effort/fig earned in winning her last which was a Grade 1 affair at Lrc would usually make her the favorite today...... but..... not with the freaky good Unique Bella in the race

3  Spooky Woods   improving both in the a.m. and the p.m.......but she will need the top pick to have a day from "hell o" to have any shot at winning

6  Noted and Quoted

race 7    average clarity

5  Forever Juanito   last time this six-year-old was able to run off of as little rest as 5 weeks he ran a powerful grass race.......34 days off since his latest which was a fairly good 2nd down the hill.......and do I like the rider change especially for a race down the hill

8  Stormy Liberal    4 wins and 3 2nd's in 9 hill races........and consistency down the usual configuration that the SA provides is more important than any other race anywhere that I know of......hot week of riding for Arroyo

1  Danzing Candy   might be a prep for a route race but lookout if it isn't as he has good turf breeding and plenty off early gas to wire the field

3  Fabozzi

race 8    average clarity

10  Cupid's Beau   broke slowly and rushed into the pace on what I believe was a slightly dull inside and did so in a fast heat.......only other sprint with the blinkers on was also strong.......trainer has been firing on all cylinders of late and his horses have been out running their odds in a big way

6  B Squared   very nice parents and a work regiment that screams ready......rather sure you can bank on this O'Neill 1st timer to show plenty of ability/run in his MSW debut

2  Path of Exile   no action on the board for this Mike McCarthy 1st time starter in his MSW debut......and he didn't run too badly in what was likely a tune-up........full throttle today

3  Tanners Pride

Long-shot consideration:  4  Gallant Heat   seems dangerous with the cut back in distance and the 10 lbs apprentice weight break.......and the works at GG hint he is deserving of an attempt to compete at a high level on the "big circuit"

race 9    below average clarity

5  Avicii   won the 6F version of this race on the 4th of February.......and she runs well at 7F.........meets leading trainer......meets leading rider......no brainer to place as top selection

11  Brookes All Mine   away almost 4 months but she is better horse on the dirt and she has handled layoffs in the past....and her a.m. prowess hints she is meant and ready to roll

4  That's s Lady   cut back route to 7F is usual a good thing......as is a best of 97 bullet work just put in by this filly 9 days ago......and last put not least this filly likes the SA dirt

7  Wonderful Lie

Long-shot consideration:   Dis Smart Cat   dangerous back numbers for this Chew filly......and look who rides her for the 1st time.......Mr Kent Desormeaux........Chew pops we these kind and might surprise at a big price here

race 10   below average clarity

7  Tiz Bailee   last run way back in Nov was much better than appears in print as it was a fast heat run at today's one mile turf distance...... and....... in the race this filly was compromised by having to check back early......works hint she is ready fresh and with a rider upgrade

3  Lizmeister   should have plenty of endurance when push comes to shove late as she is coming off of a 9F grass race where she ran 2nd......she was our long-shot selection that day going off at odds of 53 to 1

1  Glory and Power   ignore final time fig in her last as the pace set made it impossible to finish fast enough to produce a normal time......and this filly sat last in the race......so.....snatching 2nd was no easy task

2  Zaffinah

9  Bee Sweet

4  War Storm
