race 1    average clarity

1  Woodstock Memory   seems best right now racing at today's one mile distance......retains Ocampo who has looked good on his back.......and he is capable of running on or off of the pace....such a deal

7  Monterey Shale   turf to dirt for today....running off of short rest today.....both right in the wheelhouse of Gary Stute......retains Bejarano.....only dirt route is one of his career best races

6  Sivali   lone winners circle visit came off of 8 days rest.......8 days rest today but this time attempting a route of ground......but Periban is a solid 5 for his last 19 with the sprint-sprint route maneuver

3  Mr. Larson

race 2   below  average clarity

4  Queen Laila   both lifetime races are better than par for today's level.......blinkers on for the 1st time today and just what you want to see as an improved solid work......solid rider/trainer combo over the last 2 months........three year old filly has the potential for her lifetime best this afternoon

5  Tink's Twirl   won on an off track in a raced moved from the turf at 17 to 1 odds in a six-horse field for the D'A and friend......that hints that she either loved the slop.....and/or.....wasn't all that cranked up.....lookout if it mostly is the latter

3  Go On Mary   seems best sprinting on the dirt......7 furlongs doesn't appear to be her cup of tea as she the cut back in distance is a positive.....and maybe especially so at 6F as she is 1 for 1 at that distance

race 3    below average clarity

7  Big Boy Candy   gate works for this Miller 1st time starter suggest he is ready at 1st asking.......especially like the last gate work which was at today's 5F distance has tossed 2 winners from 2 starters and both were able to graduate at two

2  Cannonball Comin   Bejarano is often in high demand in maiden races and he lands on this colt who has been training at GG......his works are consistently good (not great) and numerous.......and trainer Ed Moger is capable of scoring with debut runners

8  Quoting Hawk   New Mexico bred might have some talent to ship west to a much tougher circuit.....and.....winds up in the red-hot Machowski barn who these days is hard to ignore

5  Ministertomyheart

Long-shot consideration:   4  Quad   trainer used to be dynamite in this early baby races but Walter Solis runners just have not been performing well the last couple of years.......but......blinkers off for this baby's 2nd start....and if this colt runs to his eye-popping sub 1:00 flat work at Slr worked just 5 days

race 4    average clarity

3  Eichel   somewhat alarming that Freeman drops this gelding considering he is a much better horse since switching to the grass (just missed as our long-shot play in his latest at 26 to 1)........but..... maybe......his (30 1 0 4) record at SA is starting to sink time in the exacta in 30 starts......ouch

5  Bourque   wanted no part of turf routes but he did show good action on the grass in those two turn races until he tired.......strong dirt sprint effort/number 2 back.....last looked like a spin around the track in a protected race to get away with a drop and........ go go go in today's sprint down the SA hill

2  Sahara Storm   ignore lone race down the hill as it was run off of a long layoff and appeared to be a turf sprint tightener to go long in his next.......should be very fit coming of turf routes to put a strong late run today back in a turf other words - just this opposite of his only other race down the hill

race 5    average clarity

2  G. A. Betting   hates the sod so chalk up his last as turf tightener.......lifetime best and a strong fit here is the last time this fellow sprinted on a main track surface which was six races back in July of 2016......and his overall record on fast rated convention dirt sprints is (4 2 1 0 1) bug boy up

1  Cherubim   last two times this gelding raced off of 1/2 year layoffs like today he won........and he appears to do his best running at SA as he has been in the exacta in 5 of 7 starts .....trainer/rider are 4 for their last 10 as a team

4  Native Treasure   double barrel action from Palma as he also trains our top choice......last down the hill is better than appears in year old seems to run equally as good on the dirt......trainer has won 4 of his last 13 2nd out following a claim which is the case today

race 6    above average clarity

5  Easy Song   set one ridiculous fast pace in her latest and of course tired late to run 4th in a one mile grass race.....did exceptional well to be only 3 3/4 lengths behind the winner at the since are the best preparatory drills from the Gaines barn in many a moon......Smith up.....will be tough to very catch today

6  My Aunt Tille   seems likely to get a very nice stalk position siting 2nd or 3rd behind our top choice.......Elliot made a too early of move in his latest or might have battled for the win instead of running 2nd

1  Moonshine Annie   moved forward in his 2nd lifetime start and believe he will once again today ........blinkers on for the 1st time....Stevens on for the first.....should sit closer and with one solid defying father time grass rider up

7  Speakers

race 7    below average clarity

3  Plastered   might be quite the claim by Hollendorfer because following a turf sprint tightener this filly ran the race of her life winning despite way too wide of a trip.....believe the very stout trainer loved what he saw as he has put in no less than 8 works since and most of them solid 6F bug boy gets quite the opportunity today as he doesn't get his weight allowance this being a Stakes race....if he wins this the trainers and owners will be after his services more than ever

1  Faithfully   scratched out of yesterday's Grade 1 for this significantly softer spot......very good history at SA on the dirt (3 2 1 0).......Bejarano and Baffert are starting to get very comfortable as a team.......what on earth took them so long

5  Street Surrender   Hollendorfer/Smith are runners almost always "live" when they team up.....trainer is very dangerous turf to dirt and that is the case here for this sharp GG invader........and he has won on the SA dirt

race 8    average clarity

2  Place des Vosges   disliked the extra 3/8's of a mile of sod in his last.....previously at at 9 furlongs he fired one strong winning 4L win absolutely taking off in the stretch.......and before that he won at 10F....rebound back at a distance that is not too far for him

1  Evo Campo   SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE    two for two at 1 1/2 miles on the turf.......and he has won at 1 1/18th on the would think he should run a strong race at 1 1/4.....maybe not as strong as 1 1/2 but strong enough

3  September Stars   wisely scratched out of a solid Grade 1 last Sunday for this much softer spot.......and it is uncanny how many S Cal horses win when that opt for another races and of course a softer one

4  Responsibleforlove

race 9    average clarity

2  Yellow Bonnet   cold barn might want to jump-start things.......or is it a claim me please situation......the fact that Glatt has had a very high win percentage over the last couple of years with multiple level drops I have to think they just want to win

4  Dolce Tempesta   a good five lengths less of a horse than our top choice if the form for both remains the same.....but Machowski is hot so maybe this filly improves in her 2nd lifetime start..... and as mentioned above...... maybe our top choice is hurting some and regresses........we shall see

1  Ruby's Gone Again   MC debut fits but her last does not......but a rebound to some degree seems likely as this filly put in a nice 5F bullet work since her disappointing 2nd start.....trainer has had a dismal year......hard not to root for him

5  Miss Napper Dandy

8  Bona Fide Image
