Los Alamitos for for Thursday 6 July 2017

Sure appreciate getting the opportunity to handicap Santa Anita but 6 months of the same track is more than enough. Great to be handicapping something different.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

6  Journeyonthemove   Mike Puype finished up the Santa Anita meeting quite chilly but new track/new day......drops his mare multiple levels to get to the circle of joy ........and he is 4 for his last 8 with such a move

1  Honor Maker   lone win came in his only race run at Lrc and in that race he dropped significantly in class......same scenario this afternoon

5  The Cat's Leavin   SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE  trainer has one stout record with 33 starts in 2017 as in 48% win.......and the Craigmyle/Brednar combo is even better at 57% win over the last 60 days.....hard not to consider especially at a lofty ML

race 2    average clarity

4  Nothin Free   best looking work tab of anyone in this field and her trainer John Sadler is awfully good handling two-year old fillies......and he gets to red hot Roman and his 5 lbs weight break

5  She's No Brama   bet fairly hard in her MSW debut but tossed a clunker......blinkers on to help focus and put her early speed to better use in her 2nd start

3  Yesterday's News   Simon Callaghan is having a great year and is really becoming a force with young horses including his debut runners......dangerous sort

race 3    below average clarity

8  Heat Me   Glatt is ever so dangerous when dropping a given horse multiple levels off of layoff.....and that is the case here.....and the fact Roman and his agent want the mount support the notion this mare is doing well enough to head to the winners circle

5  Warrensdollarsigns    another dropping to enhance his chances........2nd out following the Charles Treece claim and that is usually a good thing as in (20% with his last 80)

6  Cheese   seems to be making a rebound and appears to want more ground to cover to enhance his chances of getting up in time....doesn't get to run as far as 5 1/2 too often but he sure does well when he gets the opportunity

7  Smil'n From Above

race 4    average clarity

6  Dramatic Angel   4 of his 6 career races fit well in this spot....believe his layoff run in his latest is somewhat of a smoke screen to get away with today's drop and not get claimed....sure appear tough if that is the case

9  Strong Values   two wins and a 3rd when Roman has been aboard and in general he has teamed up with Belvoir awfully well fact Belvoir seems instrumental at getting the young rider on track early on

1  Antinanco   seems like a decent claim by Keith Craigmyle who has a lofty win % 1st out following a claim.....not my favorite jock up but he is 2 for 2 for the trainer over the last 2 months

7  Adrosa Sky

Long-shot consideration:   4  Badasmywifeletsmeb   nice move forward in latest and the way he has been finishing at 4 1/2F sure hints that 5 1/2 will be a plus....trainer seldom wins but here is a strange stat......3 for his last 9 with "up 2 more levels" and with a significant profit

race 5    average clarity

7  City of Light   low percentage trainer with MSW 1st timer starters but the works hint he breaks the mold today....... and why not as this colt cost a cool $710K at sale.....and look who shows up at Lrc to ride.......Mr Gary Stevens (his lone mount on the card)

5  The Party Factor   trainer does well with fresh horses.......quite the rider upgrade......owns significant early speed.......toss out only race at Lrc as he was fractious prior to the race......dangerous

1  Stone Hands   last fits fine .......that is for sure....... so why 3rd selection.......I am a touch leery that the extra 1/2 furlong to travel today might flatten him out some

8  Sakab

Long-shot consideration:  3  Tibbens Secret   works are too strong to ignore and who in the heck is Bret Vickery as he is 4 for 7 in 2017 and with two others in the money......yikes-o-rama!

race 6    average clarity

6  Lob City   seems like a good claim for the Lrc meeting by a dangerous trainer in William Morey of a five-year old mare has run well turf to dirt in the past .........and that is the scenario for today.....race appears to set up for her off pace running style

2  Miz Graycee   wide trip in latest hides a vastly improved effort......runs decently at Lrc......good rider/trainer combo in Sutherland/Ruiz both of whom I believe to be underrated

3  Stole My 'Art  SCRATCHED OUT OF RACE   best jock this mare has seen in many a moon......seems like a good move to take advantage of a track she loves as in 2 wins and a 2nd in 3 starts.....not too shabby considering her overall record is (23 3 1 2)

7  Private Terrace

race 7    average clarity

5  Alpenhornvery solid efforts/figs at two....will be tough to beat if he is back the same animal following the one year hiatus.....good sign he reunites with Maldonado and for the jocks lone mount of the day

8  Lemonaideen   another laid up individual with some talent.......proven fresh as she won her MSW debut....sure like the 6F work just 8 days ago to finish up her preparation for her return to the race wars

7  Song of Ekati   another who scored in her maiden debut albeit a maiden claimer at 75K......mostly placed 3rd as her work tab has too many gaps (likely set backs) in it

4  Ready to Hula Lila

race 8    below average clarity

12 AE  Dixie Crystal   SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE   2 for 3 at Lrc's last meeting which was in December....and that seems very significant as the trainer seldom visits the winners circle......lifetime best was her debut and the effort sure fits here both in pace and final say ready - proven fresh

9  Todos Santos   OK efforts in her 1st two lifetime races......but....better than OK seems likely today as she just popped a solid 4F gate drill hinting Sadler has tweaked something for the better......we shall see

2  Argumentative   dull work tab but mom has tossed 6 winners from 6 starters....that and draws the attention of Roman and his agent

1  Cheyenne Dancer

6  Previewer

8  Candee Topper
