Los Alamitos for Saturday 8 July 2017

Average card handicapping wise but I do like Sunday's quite a bit.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

3  Coco Smooches   filly seems on the upswing and has won as far as 5 1/2 furlongs in the past....that and the 7 lbs apprentice should help get the distance......and she has a good history racing off of short rest which is the case here

1  Blazinghotprospect   beat our top selection in May but 5 1/2 furlongs likely will be a challenge for seems like a very good move by her trainer to put in a 5F drill since her last to help out her endurance.......Nunez usually works her 4F most of the time

4  Warren's Purrfect   should be closing fast late but boy does she like to hang and that includes when Pratt is up.....struggling rider gets the call today

race 2    average clarity

1  Papa de Gatto   has his physical issues so Glatt seems to have wisely pointed this five-year old for this layoff run at Lrc where he has one win and one 2nd in two starts.....and the trainer is generally quite dangerous with laid up sprinters

6  Big Energy   trainer seems at his best 1st following a claim....last effort racing at Lrc for this gelding was in December and it was a solid race.....he found trouble in the race and the race turned out to be a key one

4  Not Chopped Liver   cold barn but might jump-start things here as Sherman is very good route to sprint which is the case here......a.m. work appears decent.......seems set up (pointed) for today's race

7  Gracias Tom

race 3    average clarity

6  Chief Tiger   exits a very fast heat for the level in a race that fits well in this spot does his previous race which was run at odd of 107 to 1.....does he have another good effort in him.....we shall see

1  King Pacat  best ever and a strong fit was his lone race at Lrc way back in December of 2015.......dangerous conditioner with fresh horses and this gelding is 2 1/2 months "fresh" today

4  Twisted Candy   1st timer isn't exactly knocking them dead in the a.m. but this isn't much of a field......and he sure is bred well enough to be able to run some

2  Humid

race 4    average clarity

2  Papa Royale   not crazy about the blinkers going on following a solid better than par route race but he does draw the red-hot bug boy,,,,,, and,,,,,,, if he can get close to duplicating his latest (with the equipment change) he should be tough

5  Vow's Son   believe this fellow moves forward for today as his a.m. preparation is way better for today than what it was prior to his last couple of races......Puype is off to a good start at the meeting with 2 wins in 4 starts

3  Specimen  SCRATCHED OUT

9  Wondering Ways

race 5    above average clarity

4  Runasaaurus Rex   talk about being placed in 3 overly ambitious spots following the  claim.....back to recent 5/8ths work.......should love the class relief

2  Kiss Limit   finally gets to run where he trains and he sure has worked well at Los Alamitos........the D'A and Theriot have teamed up for 3 wins in their last 9 starts

1  Charismic   not so hot in his 1st race on conventional dirt after 4 better efforts on the synthetic at GG........but he does draw the advantage of one fine young rider and the weight advantage that he gets.....deserves another shot on the "real thing"

race 6    below average clarity

6  Ambitious Brew   sure appreciates the Lrc surface as both lifetime races are quite strong......and......Marty Jones seems to have him very well prepared for today's race with the best preparatory works he has put into the "Brew" in some time

3  Soi Phet   solid history at Lrc (6 3 2 0) and at today's distance (20 8 3 0)......and Kent Desormeaux knows him awfully well.......nine year old is capable of winning on or off the pace jock with options.....hard not to like

2  Smokey Image   scratched out of a tougher race on the 4th of July to race in this softer's uncanny how often horses win when trainers do this in S Cal

7  Magic Mark

race 7    average clarity

2  Dee Way to Go   SCRATCHED OUT

8  Mama's Kid   works look rather good especially considering the given level for this 1st timer......and mom has tossed 7 winners from 9 starters

7  Queen Lizzie   double barrel action from Harrington as he also trains our top pick....two year old filly 1st time starter who is working up to snuff.......decent rider/trainer combo

10  Meet My Kitty

race 8    average clarity

2  Constellation   appreciates 7 furlong races so you would thing 6 1/2 furlongs would be a decent fit as well for this Hollendorfer filly......not might favorite rider these days but he almost won a Grade 1 on her in her last at Kee.....nice lead or stalking style should make things easy on Flores

7  Finest City   ultra consistent and she has handled the Lrc surface well in the past winning the 2016 version of this race......might need a small rebound of sorts as she has slipped a little in her last two endeavors.......thus.....2nd choice

4  Pretty N Cool   flattens out some  in races at 6 1/2F & 7F but the way Bob Baffert is going these days that might not happen this afternoon

5  Skye Diamonds

race 9    average clarity

3  Pa Bettin On You   new trainer in Clark who is dynamite 1st following a claim....... and......he has this gelding training as if he once again has the trump card for a new shooter.......rider/trainer have won 2 of their last 3 with the other in the money

6  Prohibition Repeal   nice layoff race in latest and the strength of the effort is disguised......wide and up on the pace and did so in a fast heat for the level......and he runs well on the Lrc surface

4  Boompa   exits the same fast heat as our 2nd selection and he also didn't get the best of trips........Puype seems to be snapping out of the doldrums and is off to a good start at the new meeting

2  Swiss Cheese

5  Warren's Cole

7  Jet Seeker
