San ta Anita for Friday 13 October 2017

Good looking weekend of racing as I have studied all of the races.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

5  Special Story   good history fresh and fresh today which is usually in Glatt's is 1st out following a claim.....exited two strong races where the winner ran much better than par and in both instances won their next race as well......small drop helps......1st at a route but bred OK for one

2  Dukes Up   somewhat suspicious significant drop in class but obviously if his health has remained intact he should be a handful in late other reason placing him as 2nd choice is that his two lifetime wins were by a nose and a head and he appeared as if his desire to win wasn't exactly in a possible hanger

4  Sindys Luck   gave it up badly in his last as he bled in the race and was vanned off.....solid a.m. work since.......quite the jockey upgrade ......should fit very nicely here if he doesn't fall apart physically once again

6  To the Bar

race 2    average clarity

5  Our Slick Chick   sprint - sprint - route maneuver here ......rider upgrade to 1st time Mike Smith.......and a work tab (blinkers on) since her latest on 19 August with not only much quicker works but at tight intervals....that and she exited two very fast MSW heats

1  Exuberance   solid move forward in her 2nd lifetime endeavor running 3rd beaten only by a length in a 100K Stakes......not crazy about her route pedigree but it seems good enough.....we shall see

3  Shezaspanishdancer   Jerry H. trains our top selection and also this filly who got her feet wet in a debut sprint race over at Lrc........her pedigree to "go long" by my book is the best in the field.....dangerous sort

race 3    average clarity

6  Earring   consistent sort might have run her lifetime best on the sod the only time she competed in a nine furlong grass race which was run in a Grade 2 in Ireland........Proctor/Van Dyke have been one live combo in S Cal this summer and fall and likely that will continue today off of some stout a.m. preparation

1  Cordiality   8 for 10 in the exacta the last two years for this four-year old filly.......and she fired her lifetime best in her last doing it loose on the lead....and she might be loose once again in this grass route race lacking speed......maybe best of all Baze has options as she is more than capable winning from off of the pace as well

4  Lassen   late runner could have won this level in her last if not for getting boxed/blocked on the 2nd was impressive the way she moved into a lackluster pace being set 1/2 dozen lengths ahead of her

5  Ginga

race 4    average clarity

4  Stylitude   nice 1st at route in her last her 2nd lifetime start.....race was on the slow side for a MSW affair so the drop into MC50K doesn't bother me much especially considering this filly went for $60K at sale.....Kent Dersormeaux seems likely to sit just off the front-runners who seem very vulnerable.....such a deal

5  Sauce On Side   exits the same race as our top selection running about 3L less than she did "Santucci fig wise".......seems the best of the late runners and retains the rather hot bug boy Roman and his 5 lbs off....should be motoring late

2  Unchanged   improving with each and every start and now runs a route for the 1st recent 4F work....and one of Gallagher's better trainer stats is "1st at a route"

1  Rossmoor Way

race 5    below average clarity

4  Little Bit Lovely   works hint she is sharp off of the 7 week break.....likes the Santa Anita hill and appears to be the controlling speed......(4 2 1 1) down the hill since the blinkers were put on.....gets in 7 lbs. lighter than our next 3 choices

5  Wedding Blush   ran well down the hill off of 53 days on May 29th running 2nd at one claiming level higher......58 days since her latest......should get a decent stalking trip

2  Pleasant as Pie   wonn her lone race down the SA hill with a strong stretch run......same jock that won that day is aboard today....seems the best of the late runners

1  Gift of a Star

race 6    average clarity

8  Miss Ricochet   debut in the slop was very good......2nd start on a fast track is outstanding......not crazy about the blinkers going on following such an impressive in why.....that and the recent a.m. work is not as good.......would have rated this affair above average clarity if I wasn't for my concerns

2  Complimenti   races in Dubai were solid for the MSW level at SA and yet this filly went off at 7 to 1.....that hints at a gimme off of the long layoff.....lookout if it was

5  Kentan Road   MSW debut might have been nothing more than a turf tightener to muscle up and be fully fit for her 2nd start and 1st on the dirt......switch to Roman might be telltale as most of the time he teams up with Sadler the horses are live

4  Duranga

Long-shot consideration:   7 Ransomed   cheap Illinois bred 1ster but she sure isn't working like one.......and the trainer and rider have won 3 of their last 10 as a team over the last couple of months

race 7    average clarity

4  Mercer Island   quite the awakening with the blinkers removed for his latest....and the strength of the effort is hidden by dueling in decent pace and doing so on a slightly dull rail......that and Peter Miller is heating things up once again

6  Desert General   exits the same race as our top choice and his effort is also better than appears in print......that and his lone lifetime win came the only time he has raced at today's 1 1/16 distance

1  Secret Touch   like that Eurton passed on running this fellow at Lrc.....instead he put in 6 works......should feel good and might be up to his best yet which would make him a major factor in the outcome of this race

3  Popular Kid

race 8    average clarity

9  Awesome Heights   twice was on the AE list and did not get in and both were MSW connections are willing to race in a MC claimer....trainer is as hot as he has been in many a moon.......should be tough 1st time in a maiden claiming race

1  Air On Fire   obvious looking gimme in last at 26 to 1 to drop and go go go 2nd out following a layoff......Richard Mandella has been firing on all cylinders.......1st on the sod but owns a pedigree that should handle it

8  Milhaud   double barrel action from the Mandella barn as he also trains our 2nd selection......all three lifetime turf races fit and two of them were down the SA hill......Prat knows this five yer old maiden well as this is his 6th mount on him

5  Beloved Holiday

6  Saldamente

3  Member State
