Santa Anita for Friday 2 March 2018

Rain is here so pay attention to see if it effects the way the track is playing.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

If the race is taken off the turf:   4-5-7-9-2-8

7  Save Ground   recent drills sure appear to be quite a bit better.......and his latest run in mid January fits fine......so if he runs to his works he likely is set for his best this afternoon

4  Wild Lando   very consistent sprinter for D'Amato and company tries both a route and the turf for the 1st time ever......tough call if he will take to both but if he does he has a good spot for success

2  Accreditation   five-year old gelding should get a very nice ground saving up close position.....needs better endurance in the late stages.......maybe back in very short rest for the 1st time might be the catalyst for it......we shall see about 1:00 PM this afternoon

5  Dial Me In

1  Siege of Vicksburg

8  Tartar

race 2    average clarity

1  Tequila   quite the awakening first at a route in her latest firing a better than par number and doing it with a wide trip.........two vastly improved works since.......seems to have benefited from the race her in first in 6 months......should be tough

3  Tea for Tam   another with a solid forward move (same 25 Jan. race as our top pick) in her last and like our top choice it was run off of a layoff.......seems likely to grab the front end and attempt to lull them asleep and try to wire.........good dirt route jock in Espinoza

5  Tee Your Mama   both lifetime dirt sprints with the blinkers on are par like efforts....and "par" is a good thing unless you are touring golf pro.......has something to prove at a route however.......bred fine to handle one

race 3    average clarity

2  Sagittari   all three races run off of relatively short rest are good.....short rest for today and this four-year old won by more than 6L and came home in a cantor in her latest........likely left plenty in the tank for today........Kent Desormeaux wisely sticks around

3  Fire to the Wire   lifetime best was the only time this Koriner five-year old competed in a two turn race.......that and the trainer is often at his best racing turf to dirt like today

4  Southern Thunder   on the improve with each and every race......last might do the trick but he likely needs the positive trend to stay tact this afternoon........if it does he seems to have as good a chance as anyone of taking down this race

race 4    average clarity

3  Jeweled   Baffert uncharacteristically has not done much the last 4 months or so with significant drop downs in MC..... but....... in the past many ran strong races but didn't do much after that.......in other words the kind you can consider backing but not claiming......believe this filly has a good chance to hold together physically speaking as this is only 5F

4  Radio Chatter   improving sort gets to run off of relatively short rest for the 1st time in her career which suggests she might be up for another move in the desired direction today........that and the cut back in distance appears to be a plus

2  My Alchemist   away from the game for 14 months but working decently for her new trainer Bob Hess.......not much in 4 MSW races but takes the magical drop from MSW racing to MC20K

8  Tenthousandreasons

6  Knowitallhousewife

race 5    average clarity

If the race is taken off the turf:  8-5-2-4-9-6

5  Neon Gypsy   fits "big" here if she's ready off of the 3 month layoff.....works suggest that she is.......pals Desormeaux/Hess haven't done much of late but have been deadly in the past......only grass race was at one mile and sure appears good here

4  Uno Trouble Maker   might be an awfully good claim by Miller and friends as this filly ran a very fast time (for the given level) to win a MC30K 6F dirt race in her 2nd lifetime start.........1st at a route and the turf........pedigree to handle both is decent

9  Dr. Ann   both one mile grass races fit well for today's level.....difficult post or would have placed higher......Prat best make good use of this girl's tactical speed

2  Silverspun Pickup

7  Mraseel

8  Tapitha Bonita

race 6    average clarity

4  Ipray   very consistent hard trying sort including off of short rest like today.......low % trainer but not 1st out following a claim which is the case this afternoon.......race profile seems to fit off of the pace style.....last which was run at two claiming levels lower fits......and she might move forward 2nd out following a long layoff......such a deal

5  Forbidden Command   trainer is 3 for his last 6 2nd out following a claim which is today's scenario........T C Baze is 2 for 2 on this mare winning both by wide margins.........six year old is (16 6 4 1) at the distance........hard not to like

3  Jill Madden   latest race is better than it appears as although this filly had a loose lead in her last she was running on a dull inside condition......did well to hang on for 3rd......claimed and steps up and with her best work showing in some time since the claim.....somewhat dangerous speed

1  Blondy's Reward

2  Honor Maker

race 7    average clarity

7  Ten Blessings   (3 2 1 0) at Santa Anita and his last two numbers earned at the Great Race Place are dynamite and came at 7F......so 6 1/2F is likely a good fit.......as far as racing off of such a long layoff is concerned ?........very little concern as this five-year old is working just as impressively as he runs

8  Dr. Dorr   Baffert trains our top choice as well as this fellow......lifetime best was run the only time this gelding raced at today's 6 1/2F distance and the race was at SA.......dangerous for sure especially if the top pick doesn't perform as well as I think

6  Excitations   solid pick-up for O'Neill of a good Midwest runner......away since 19 Nov. but O'Neill appears to have him all wound up and ready to roll......still he might need his lifetime best because of the "Baffert factor" times two

2  Red Lightning

1  Multiplier

race 8    average clarity

4  Native Treasure   last is solid for today's class hike of two levels and the strength of the effort is disguised by a wide run on a day there was a rail bias......that race was run off of 27 days rest and at 6 1/2F......6 1/2F today and 30 days since his last....and with 2 lbs less to carry

1  Best Two Minute   seems best when Bejarano rides and he is back aboard today after being absent for a race.....since Papaprodromou claimed this gelding last summer this six-year-old is (4 2 2 0) when racing for 25K or 32K........25K today and trainer likely wants a winner badly as he has yet to win in 27 starts at the meeting

9  Boy Howdy   race two back is very strong winning by 3L in a solid time at one claiming level higher and it was the only time he has been up for a tag......up for a tag today and back quick which he has handled in the past........all good except for the fact he was a voided claim in the aforementioned 3L win.......tough call as far as his relative health is concerned

6  Madelyn's Wild Max

3  Street Vision

5  Tough But Nice
