Santa Anita for Saturday 3 March 2018

I sure liked today's card but am leery of the track condition for today. Drying out tracks can leave your head scratching sometimes. Hope the track plays fair/even. A little short on comments as I essentially had to study 13 races with the threat of races being taken off of the turf.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

If the race is taken off the turf:  1-7-4-6-8

1  Minister's Glory   on the right end of the learning curve and goes from the 10 post to the 1 post which makes Franco's job a lot easier......recent preparatory drills are improved.......seems likely to improve again

4  Cool Your Jets   brutal trip in his MSW debut.....broke very poorly - made too early of a move to get back in contention - ran too wide on the turn.......about 11 or 12 lengths of trip adjustment by my way of thinking......owns an excellent pedigree for a turf route race

7  Smart Knows Smart

8  Shaymin

2  Ashley's Big Guy

race 2    average clarity

3  Heartfullofstars   on the improve with each and every race when he competed at Prx in the seems like a good candidate to move forward in his 2nd start in S Cal......that and the D'A is often at his best "2nd time route" which is the case here

2  More Honor   moved forward about 3L in his 2nd lifetime start running a Santucci fig that was better than par.........sprint - sprint - route scenario for his 3rd lifetime start.......blinkers on hinting he is going after the front end.....very dangerous sort

5  Jimmy Chila

race 3    average clarity

5  City Steel   eight year old seemingly gets enough time off to make a rebound following a dull effort on 13 Jan.......previous three races were all strong and 2 of them are hidden to some degree......good history at today's distance and note that he is (4 2 2 0) on off tracks

2 Roman Tizzy   stepped up in his latest and ran a very strong race......Cerin must still really appreciate what he is seeing as he steps his nine-year old up another level for today.......leading rider Roman wisely sticks around

1  Matriculate

4  Lewis Vale

race 4    average clarity

If the race is taken off the turf:  3-5-6-8-1

3  Celturian   except for two gaps of 13 and 10 days this Hendricks 1st time starter has hit the track in very tightly spaced intervals hinting he might be very muscled up and ready for today's challenge of a turf route......decent turf breeding.......good spot for a 1st timer as the group seems quite soft

6  Fast as Cass   not exactly a powerful number despite running 2nd in his latest which was his 1st on the turf and run off of an extended hiatus from the game.......but that effort should go a long way in preparing him for his 1st turf route this afternoon

8  English Investor

5  Ready Eddie

1  Jersey's Heat

race 5    average clarity

4  Camino de Estrella   good history and some big figs racing at today's one mile distance but not too hot at 1 1/16th and it showed in his last which was run on 30 set of preparatory works from the Yakteen barn in many a moon........plenty of speed signed up can set things up for his off pace style......Bejarano wisely sticks around

6  Lookie Loo   Baffert is a stellar 16 for his last 46 (37%) with the sprint - sprint - route maneuver.......that is the case today for this colt who has done little wrong in 3 lifetime races which were all sprints......not out of the win picture by any means

1  Kawara

race 6    above average clarity

6  Dream Tree   undefeated in 4 lifetime starts and that includes a Grade 1 and a Grade 2 win both by more than 3 lengths........continues to train like a healthy and happy three-year old filly.......hard not to like

3  Midnight Bisou   very powerful Grade 2 win by 4 1/2L in her latest (Santucci fig earned was actually better than anything our top choice has earned) are quite nice since the 7 Jan race.......Mike Smith wisely stays negative though (which made her easy to make as the 2nd selection) is the fact that Spawr is 0 for his last 12 1st at a route and only two of those 12 hit the board

1  One fast Board

race 7    average clarity

4  Treasure Hunter   three-year old gelding has done little wrong since fronts were added.......her last which was run on 28 Jan. is her best to since the race have never been better........last sure fits well here and she might be up for even more today......we shall see about 3:30 pm today

2  Zippy Groom   lone lifetime turf win came turf to dirt (which is one of the trainer's top stats) and it was a 5 length win.......turf in last.......dirt today.......Roman up......all systems go for "Zippy"

7  Joeray

6  Joejoe's Kingdom

race 8    average clarity

If the race is taken off the turf:  3-10-7-4-5-6

10  A Little Bit Me   one heck of a rider upgrade especially for a race down the hill.......blinkers on for today........should be on or near the front end and in a race that seems to favor those who are

7  Gone to Town   tossed a clunker in latest in a race down the hill.....but......the effort she put in on the hill in her race two back is very strong and would likely take down this it about a 50/50 proposition that she musters a rebound

3  Lady Ninja

8  Gotham Desire

1  Salten Sapity

6  Beau Square

race 9    average clarity

9  Wild Edie   not much cooking in her latest but she might have raced off of too short of rest (21 days)........race two back run off of 33 days rest is solid-looking in this spot.......that race was run 43 days ago.......switch to Roman for today and the bug boy has been one of the trainer's go to guys of late

6  Go Girl Gone   3 solid consecutive tightly spaced drills put in and after that a so so drill and then a dull drill to finish off the a.m. preparation for this Cerin 1st timer........might be the barn didn't want to show too much as to keep the claiming vultures at bay ........bug boy Ceballos owns a higher a higher win % than Roman and was a $35.00 top choice winner for us yesterday

3  No Honey Money

8  Venice

5  Jinn Win

7  Brite Rivers

race 10    average clarity

2  Hank the Tank   fell off in latest and also really doesn't appear to want to race any further than 6F.......race two back at 6F is very strong.........lookout if this five-year old rebounds to it........if he does all the 10 lbs apprentice rider has to do is hang on and not fall off.......well maybe a little more than that

10  Bolster   last two racing endeavors fit well at today's lower level and are hidden by an average of 6 lengths of trip adjustment......drop makes sense to me and likely to Prat and his agent as they stick with this Powell runner

1  R Cha Cha

3  Beantown Boys

8  Levitation

6  Rick's Dream
