Santa Anita for Sunday 3 June 2018

Sign up for full card selections for Belmont Day's fabulous Saturday afternoon (and with a forecast for good weather) is now available.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

5  Travieza   very consistent sort on the grass and she sure appears to be in control of the front end of things here whether she leads or Bejarano elects to really slow things down and let someone else have it.........and Bejarano has done well on her back in the past

4  Lexington Grace   seems like the best of the off pace runners but she will likely will need more pace than anticipated up front to find the winners circle......stranger things have happened

2  Bunny Yogurt   2nd best of the off pace runners but like our 2nd selection she will need more pace than anticipated up front to find the winners circle......stranger things have happened

race 2    below average clarity

2  Dragon Flower   race lacks speed and this mare appears to have the most.....and the last two times she has dueled or grabbed the lead she has produced two winning efforts

4  Bellerina Headline   solid times this year at GG on the AW and she has handled conventional dirt in the past.......1st out following the Metz claim is an 18% proposition over his last 100

5  Coronado   one dangerous trainer these days in Mulhall 1st out following a claim as she has only been beaten once with her last 1/2 dozen "1st out following a claim".........and I like that G Franco rides thru the claim

race 3    average clarity

3  Occam's Razor   O'Neill has been getting the job done with his babies and this two-year old colt might be one of his better one's if his works are worth a hoot.......should be tough

6  Takeo Squared   double barrel action from O'Neill as he also conditions our selection........two year old gelding showed life in his debut and with little support at the windows......that suggest's he wasn't all that cranked up and that more can be expected today

2  Movedbydino   dull works prior to his MSW debut on 5 May........3 works since and his last drill worked just 4 days ago is anything but dull........dangerous sort

4  Stormy Valentino

race 4    average clarity

3  Evo Campo   very consistent on firm turf......1st at 1 1/4 but she is stout at 12F she has won at 9F.......good history with Bejarano up....hard not to like

1  Pantsonfire   another consistent sort on the grass who is in good form and might be up to her very best off of some improved of late a.m. work.......very dangerous

4  Plein Air   10F seems like a plus for this Baffert five-year old mare who has won at 12F at SA and was 5 for 6 at about 10F in Italy......not out of this by any means

8  Causeforcommotion

2  Queen Blossom

race 5    average clarity

1  Mobou   can't remember the last time I selected a John Shirreffs 1st time starter as a top pick and especially a two should be rather obvious that I am impressed with this colt's series of works.......that and he is a Cal-bred who went for $390K at sale as a yearling

5  Mr Paytience   yet another O'Neill two-year old who appears to have talent and likely will display it in his MSW debut.......stout rider/trainer combo in Frey/O'Neill to boot

7  Peedie   Ben Cecil is quietly having a very nice 2018 and might keep the ball rolling here with this nicely bred 1ster training as if he is meant and ready at 1st asking

4  Nice Haircut

8  No New Friends

race 6    average clarity

9  Sweet Treat   sprint-sprint-route maneuver and for a mare who ran her lifetime best the only time she raced in a two turn dirt race (and at SA).......that and her recent a.m. work is improved......all systems go for this 3rd out following the layoff Cliff Sise five-year old

7  California Breeze   turf sprint to dirt race two back led to a 2nd place finish at today's MC20 level......turf route in latest.......dirt route's not rocket science

1  Solar Corona   pushed out badly on the first turn....did decently to finish 3rd.......draws inside today for the 1st time at a route.........comes from out of it but that has been a plus at most of the 1 1/16th races run at SA.........especially in the cheaper route races

2  Izzy's Express

6  A Little Romance

race 7    average clarity

4  Acker   just ran his lifetime best grass race and it was at 10F the furthest he has ever run.....and his pedigree suggests that 12F will be even better for him......stout turf jock Nakatani wisely sticks around

7  Alsatian   sure acts as if he will run all day and so his 1st as far as 12F should be a plus and for many in this affair it likely won't be.....that and he likely will be the controlling speed in the race

5  Tartini   very strong best in the field adjusted for trouble figs in his last two grass races.......but.......whereas our top two choices seem likely to appreciate the 12F distance I have some doubts about this fellows ability to handle the marathon distance

1  The Big Train

9  Deal With It Dude

race 8    average clarity

1  Spiced Perfection   Koriner/Talamo teamed up to win (as our top choice of course) the big $200K Cal bred Stakes for the guys yesterday......and they appear to have the upper-hand in this $200K for the ladies.....hard not to appreciate 2 wins and 2 2nds in four lifetime Cal-bred Stakes and all with Joe up

3  Pulpit Rider   one for one on the SA dirt and runs turf to dirt.....that and Nakatani seems to be a good fit with 2 wins in 3 races both of which were Cal-bread Stakes

5  Mo See Cal   O'Neill barn has been firing on all cylinders and seemingly has this laid up for 3 months filly all set to fire a strong effort fresh off of the bench

2  Island Empire

race 9    average clarity

12  Helen's Tiger   moved forward nicely last year in her 2nd lifetime out after the layoff likely will move this filly forward today and her layoff run down the hill was not bad.......and the works since indicate the race really muscled her up........and she draws the meets leading rider in Prat........hard not to like

10  Charmingslew   likely needed her layoff last and/or wasn't crazy about the blinkers being put on........debut race 3 back is strong and disguised by a wide trip and a sharp steady........decent grass pedigree........deserves another shot down the hill with the blinkers off today

5  Council Woman   brutal trip in her last run way back in October.......she had the best adjusted for trouble fig in the race and the race was a "key turf race".......she has been a one and done type so far so you would think Chew would have her ready to roll as it might be month's until she can race again

9  Miss Ricochet

4  Dislitleaglecanfly
