Los Alamitos for Saturday 7 July 2018

Will they race today? Hope so, but only if it is safe for the horses and the riders.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

5  Rockaway   makeover today for this O'Neill runner......1st time blinkers......drops multiple levels.......first time dirt today and with a recent bullet work that says this gelding will handle it

3  The Chadinator   showed some life in two races at LA and both races are better than they appear in print.......blinkers come off for today and a recent 4F drill hints the equipment change may have improved him

2  If I Had a Nickel   best of the rest in this weak looking field

race 2    average clarity

4  Jump the Tracks   last is way better than appears in print as this three-year old ran wide up on a solid pace and did so on a day the rail was somewhat biased......and I like that Mullins shows confidence in him stepping him up multiple levels

1  Jonas  takes that ever magical drop from MSW racing to maiden claiming.....and the move for Peter Miller is a strong one.......that and he retains one red-hot bug boy in Figueroa

5  Jersey Heat   only lifetime dirt race is decent especially considering it was his MSW debut and the trainer is not much with his 1st time starters anyway

race 3    average clarity

3  Eleazer Warrior   SCRATCHED OUT OF RACE   last three races all fit well in this spot with his latest quite a bit disguised by dueling on a dull inside......and he shows a reassuring decent 5F drill since his latest

6  North County Guy   fits well in this spot if he can handle the stress of running off of 6 days rest

2  Street Zombie   Pender is often at his most dangerous dropping multiple levels like he is here.....but.....on the other hand he is only 1 for his last 33 with 90+ day layoffs.....though call

race 4    average clarity

5  Atrevida   trainer is dynamite 1st out following a claim.......combine that with a bug boy who is on fire and you have a filly who is easy to make as the top selection

2  Lob City   last two times this six-year-old mare ran turf to dirt she ran very solid efforts.......turf in last......dirt's not rocket science

3  Ib Prospecting   seems to appreciate 5 or more weeks between starts and gets that today.......claimed in her latest by Martin who is 41% win with his last 150 1st following  a claim.......yikes

race 5    average clarity

5  Arrowsphere   better on grass but training well on the dirt and sure appears to be loose on the lead here.....thus dangerous

1  Touring Machine   nice 3 work series for this Spawr newbie who was claimed on 18 May at SA.......and she sure appears to the best of those coming from off of the pace in this field

4  Halo Girl  best of the rest in this weak looking field that appears more like a MC20K than a MC40k

race 6    average clarity

3  Always Believe   often the best time to drop is off of a layoff (plenty of doubt in the minds of those thinking of claiming) and that is the case for one at the 5 1/2F dirt distance......1st on the Lrc surface is a ? mark

4  Time and Chance   likely can sit in a nice stalk position behind our 3rd selection.....trainer Miyadi is (8 3 3 1) to start the Lrc meeting.......5 year old mare seems quite dangerous

2   Red Shelby   looks loose on the lead here.....lone race on the dirt and at today's 5 1/2 furlong distance is better than appears in print.....the effort better than par for today's level when you adjust for pace and position

race 7    average clarity

2  Todos Santos   only race at the one mile distance on the dirt was a win and was run 5 1/2F sprint to one mile.........5F sprint in last - one mile today.....has handled the Lrc surface decently in the past

4  Tizway That Way   trainer is often at his most dangerous with shippers like pace type seemingly gets plenty of pace in this affair to help out her late run

1  Princess Leia   short on figs that fit but as mentioned above this race likely aids those running from "out of it" which is her style

race 8    average clarity

4  Marley's Freedom   lifetime best in latest and sure appears ready for similar today with a powerful 4 work series put in......strong reliable rider/trainer combo in Van Dyke and Baffert

2  Skye Diamonds   2 for 2 at Lrc ......and.......5 for 6 at today's distance.....that'l do (what I heard too often from the caddies at St Andrews following my mediocre drives)

1  Phantom Proton   impressive win in last caught wide dueling in decent pace.......definitely justifies a shot in a Graded race which she gets this afternoon

race 9    average clarity

5  Holy Plan   trainer knows how to win races and the abbreviated 5F distance fits this five-year old mare well........should be in the mix from the get go

6  All Net  distance fits as does the racing surface........ trainer David Jacobson is not afraid to drop precipitously to get to the circle of joy.....that is the case today

9  Family Rules   4 1/2 & 5 furlong races suite her the best.....not out of the win picture here by any means

2  Who Loves Eddie

10  Beat the Bushes
