Los Alamitos for Sunday 8 July 2018

There should be added races next week at Lrc because of the 6 races that did not go on Friday do to the heat wave. Be back with you on Thursday.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

2  Whiskey Ginger   turf route endurance building tightener in his latest run off a 10 month hiatus........should be muscled up for today's race.......well placed to win.......trainer is 31% win with his last 58 2nd out after a layoff

1  Insubordination   decent chance to get what he needs to win as in a loose lead......rider is looking for his 1st win of the meeting but he is (3 1 1 0) on this five-year old

5  Johann's Command   toss out his last two races as he likely did not care for the turf or the off track.....back to "fast" rated dirt where he is a consistent (12 1 2 7) on it.......although he does tend to hang

race 2    average clarity

2  Alleva   O'Neill 1st timer is training up to snuff especially when he has worked out of the gate......and he likely coaxed Mr Bejarano to show up for his only mount on the card

5  Owning   another 1st timer who appears ready to roll at a high level.......just bought in April so Callaghan and friends got a good look at what they were getting

4  Hartel   trained well for his debuted but stopped badly after flashing some sharp early speed.........continues to train like he can run hot bug boy remains up........dangerous sort

race 3    below average clarity

1  Mr. Cruze   new the scene trainer Luis Mendez has yet to miss the board with 7 starters.......colt won his debut for a different trainer in a 5F MC20K at GG......big 46:3 work at Slr since followed by a solid 35:2 drill also at Slr.....ready to roll

5  Honeymoonz Over   good history with blinkers on (7 1 3 2) which is the case 5F work just 4 days ago hints he is well-meant today......should be in the mix from the get go

3  Neighborhood Bully   trainer is often at his best off of long layoffs and if he has this colt fit and ready off of the 7 month layoff he should fit OK in this spot

race 4    average clarity

6  Omdurman   extremely consistent in abbreviated sprint races and 5 1/2F sure qualifies for that.....trainer is 35% win first following a claim with his last 20.....plenty of speed signed up should flatter his mid pack running style

2  Stretch   high percentage trainer.....high percentage runner......jockey is (5 3 1 0) with his last 5 mounts on this eight year old gelding.......that's a trifecta of strong stats to consider this fellow

4  Come On Spanky   2nd best off pace runner in the field that seems to favor those staying off of the our top choice falters this long-shot might have a shot

race 5    average clarity

4  South American   somewhat suspicious drop as his last is quite strong.......but if he is in OK shape he should be awfully tough in this spot

1  Hollywood Angel   another making a significant drop.....claimed for $25K by Jacobson and shows up in this $10K six weeks later.......the trainer is often quite unorthodox the way he places his horses and that makes his moves tough to decipher

5  Howdy   double barrel action for Jacobson likely to make the race go.......but.......maybe this is a "live" horse.......we shall see

race 6    average clarity

8  Irish Cream N Kate   not sure what went wrong in this fillies latest race but if she mounts a rebound she looks awfully tough in this weak looking bunch of thoroughbreds

2  Mongolian Rahy   filly fits fine if our top choice doesn't fire especially if she shows a little more "punch" late

1  Swiss Chalet   bet hard in her maiden debut way back in Sept. at Lrc but hit a wall after flashing some early speed......returns for her 2nd lifetime start today a lower MC level........was she bet hard because she was truly talented......or......just a bad evaluation of her abilities.......we shall see

7  Full Value

6  Tacy

race 7    below average clarity

1  Peaked   might be at her very best on conventional dirt.......if that is true she appears to have plenty of upside.......and one red-hot bug boy on her back in Figueroa

2  Herunbridledpower   hard to argue against a mare who is (6 4 2 0) since the Trela claim and all with the same rider up......and she is a perfect 2 for 2 at Lrc

5  Tuscany Beauty   trainer got off the snide with his 1st win of 2018 with this mare who won by a widening 6L on 29 June at Lrc......the effort fits at today's higher level......and I sure like that Gutierrez sticks around

race 8    average clarity

6  Livin On Prayer   solid debut at 2 MC levels lower.......the effort fits fine at today's MC50K level and he might be up for more today as he had zero support at the windows hinting Mullins might not have had him all that cranked up......if that is true lookout today

1  Old Indian Trick    cut back of 1/16 should help this colt stick around to the end and not flatten when it counts the most

3  Jerry's Thunder   strange step up in latest but the trainer knew what he was doing as his gelding fired an adjusted for pace and position Santucci fig that was better than par......and like our 2nd choice the cut back from 6F to 5 1/2F appears to be a plus

7  Machete

5  Ostini
