Del Mar for Friday 3 August 2018

Very decent card today. At first glance I am not too enamored with Saturday's but Sunday's appears to be fairly decent.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

2  Lucky Staxx   3 very solid races in a row taking back some off of the lead but in his latest he dueled for the lead......blinkers off today in all likelihood to make it easier to take him back......smart move by my book

3  R Cha Cha   seems like a good spot for a speed horse and outside of our top choice he might be is the only other runner in the field with solid early sprint speed and our top choice is likely to take back today with the blinkers being taken off......gelding will likely be in the mix from the opening bell

4  Awesome Heights   13 of 15 lifetime races have been on the grass but he handled the dirt decently in one of the two starts on it......claimed in latest and Vallejo has won with 7 of his last 22 1st off of the claim........not too shabby

race 2    average clarity

6  Tiscatsonthesquare   works suggest this mare is more than ready fresh off of the bench and that makes sense as she is up for a 20K tag today in order to face Cal breds again......handles the Dmr surface.......trainer has been in go mode of late

5  Tribal Dance   another who appears ready following a long break in the action........and her trainer Mark Glatt is one of the more dangerous trainers with "fresh" sprinters.........last race was run back in December where she graduated despite a wide pressing the leaders trip...... and....... the race turned out to be a key race

1  Family Girl   yet another laid up individual.......this filly has a steady diet of tightly spaced works......their all kind of ways to tighten up a given horse and I prefer interval training as the "players" to don't get to see flashy impressive drills......trainer is hot hot hot and part of that success is with bug boy Figueroa

9  Powder

7  Pied N True

race 3    average clarity

10  Into Glamour   believe Richard Baltas figured out something for the better since this filly last raced as her a.m. prowess is vastly improved....that and her lifetime best was run in her lone Del Mar turf race

6  Sunday Prophet   double barrel action for Baltas as he also trains our top selection........this race has plenty of speed signed up and this filly is capable of running off of the pace.....that and I like that S Cal's top turf rider stays up for a 3rd straight race

11  Roses and Candy   three-year old filly can fly early so the 11 post might not be much of a negative factor........and she races 2nd out after a layoff this afternoon.........not at all impossible to wire the field

8  Turing Machine

3  Himmah

race 4    average clarity

1  Lucky Roman   both lifetime races at Dmr with the blinkers on stand out here.....away since 19 Feb but training up to snuff.......if she is fully fit fresh off of the bench she will be tough

3  Sequentially   good layoff effort in his latest and 4 reassuring drill since......especially like his 6F endurance building 20 July work at Dmr......Stevens has been cold but he has been given live runners from Mark Glatt of late

8  Captivate   seems to need ample time between starts and I believe that 7 weeks is enough time between starts for him.......fired lifetime best in that race 7 weeks back.....that and his only sprint at Dmr was his 2nd lifetime best

9  Honeymoonz Ovr

6  Invasion Looming

race 5    average clarity

9  Mo See Cal   quite the makeover for this three-year old filly........1st time racing for Peter Miller (off the claim).......blinkers go on today........rider upgrade (especially for a turf race) to Pratt.......works hint the new trainer has a handle on his newbie and then some

4  Foxtail   on the right end of the learning curve for Sadler and her work regiment strongly suggest that her improvement will continue this afternoon.........she should be in the mix from the get go

8  Mongolian Humor   1 for 1 on the turf but that race likely is not strong enough to compete here.......but.......her dirt race in her next is..........and that leads to this powerful unusual stat........Ganbat is 38% win & 62% in the money with his last 26 racing turf to dirt......yikes

7  Sea Sensation

6  Super Patriot

race 6    average clarity

6  Leadville   stepped on the dirt for the 1st time in his latest and nearly won a $100K Stakes race at Otp at 43 to 1 odds.....new upgrade in trainer for today.......two sharp recent reassuring drills especially the one at Del Mar.......should be a major factor in the outcome of this MSW affair

4  Silken Prince   trainer is hot to start the Dmr meeting and he has had a strong 2018 in general........1st timer is training as if the good times might continue today for Morey and company.........and mom has tossed 5 winners from 5 starters and 3 of them were able to graduate at two.........dangerous sort

5  Three Ay Em   21 to 1 for a Bonde 1st time starter strongly suggests the race was a tune-up of sorts and that much more can occur today in his 2nd lifetime start........good profitable rider/trainer combo in Fuentes/Bonde

8  Mobou

3  Irish Heatwave

race 7    above average clarity

6  Okinawa   Baltas has been dynamite with the "pick-ups" that he gets from the East coast including some that were trained by Chad Brown.......his new shooter is training ever so fast on the Dmr turf.......should be in the hunt from the get go

9  Out of The Flames   three year old filly has done little wrong since arriving from overseas with 2 wins, 2 2nd's and a 3rd in 5 starts.......and 2 straight wins with the blinkers put on.....all that and today's rider Pratt was up for 4 of those races.....should be flying late

8  Spellker   Wesley Ward is one of the U S of A's more dangerous trainers with turf sprinters including those who ship in like this filly......like our 2nd selection this filly should be motoring late

3  Desert Steel

1  Symposium

race 8    average clarity

3  Peachy   ran a very fast time in her maiden debut which was at today's MC20K level at Lrc on 12 July........decent reassuring 4F work at Dmr since......last sure fits solidly......and with some potential for an even better today.......that would be peachy

6  Majestic Authority   Carava sure could use a win and that might be a big part of the impetus to drop this filly down from MC40K to MC20K....and her lifetime best was her only sprint to date at Dmr.....very dangerous

7  Gia Lula   another dangerous drop down in this case from MC50K to MC20K.....not out of the win picture by any means here

1  True Martha

12  Breathless Charm

5  Chapis
