Santa Anita for Sunday 14 October 2018

Don't miss out on the 25% savings by purchasing both days of the Breeders Cup at Churchill Downs on November 2nd and 3rd. (Breeders Cup races only. 5 two-year old races on Friday and 9 three and up races on Saturday) The deal will only last for few more days.

Very difficult card to decipher as you can tell be the clarity ratings but with plenty of "prices" in our selections.

20 cent Rainbow Pick 6 jackpot is now $450K.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    below average clarity

4  Gringo Star   nice improvement in latest 1st out following the Knapp claim......reassuring 4F drill since the race just 23 days ago.....the one to overcome if he repeats his last (trainer is an encouraging 19% 2nd out after a claim)

7  Don't Stalk Me   very consistent three year old gelding has shown he can run well fresh (53 days since his last race) and he retains Van Dyke......should be motoring late for Ron Ellis who is 6 for his last 18 2nd out after a claim which is the case here

3  Colormemoney   beat our top choice earning his 3rd straight number that is very strong here......but.......he has something to prove at SA as his only two races at SA are nothing to write home about

6  Our Tiger's Money

race 2    below average clarity

6  Leroy Pegasus   price shot is trained by an obscure trainer but his three straight gate works at Slr since his dull debut suggests he has talent and if he does he catches one soft looking group of foes

3  Air Jockey   lifetime best was his MSW debt and was his only race at SA.......and the effort is hidden by a bad start and a wide trip.......trainer is win-less in 2018 but Karen Headley is decent with MSW runners

4  Big Barrel   decent MC debut on June 16th at SA......bombed on the grass in his next........been away 2 1/2 months but training well and has a better jockey up today than who rode in his debut........dangerous for sure

1  Cyclometric

race 3    below average clarity

7  Dizzy Diva   back to Talamo after being absent for a race and Joe has done well riding this filly.......distance and SA both seem good for this filly........likes to stalk the leaders and should find the position here

3  Trinitys Turn  best at SA on the dirt (19 2 4 4) and (15 1 1 2) everywhere else........all three lifetime wins came on the dirt at today's distance.......small drop helps as does being a closer in a field loaded with horses who need the lead to win

5  Bridal Arch   suspicious large drop in claiming but on the other hand Bill Morey has won with 30% of his last 46 (67% on the board) 2nd out after a claim......that and he has been able to put 2 drills into his filly since her 16 Sept race

2  If You Like It

race 4    below average clarity

1  Thin Line   decent MSW debut at SA in early June and this two-year old went off at 24 to 1 hinting he wasn't fully cranked up.......blinkers on for start number 2 on 29 July and he ran poorly........away since.........blinkers wisely taken off today and racing as a 1st time gelding........improved a.m. work hint the surgery has been a success......sure like his pedigree to handle the sod

7  Weekly Call   sprint tune-up in latest......should be a go today racing in a route turf race both of which he is well-bred to handle........take note that O'Neill trains this fellow as well as our top selection

8  Data Hawk   decent grass route race at GG and Tim McCanna is solid with shippers and the 2nd time he puts a given runner in a route......not an easy post to deal with or would have rated higher

4  Dark Prince

5  Surprise Fashion

race 5    above average clarity

5  Chasing Yesterday   powerful  MSW debut 2 back led to Baffert seeing fit to ship x-country to race in a G1 at Saratoga.......bad trip in the race gave Bob's youngster little chance......back home and and working well......filly should be in the race from the get go and tough

2  It'sjustanillusion   another with an awfully solid MSW debut and she wheels back in only 14 days for her 2nd start suggesting she exited the race in great shape for Hollendorfer and company

4  Andyoushallreceive   won at 1st asking at Lrc and with plenty of support at the windows......her fig earned is less than the top two but she might be quite dangerous as the lone closer in the race and with little traffic to cope with in this small field on five

race 6    below average clarity

1  King Cause   great spot for his first on the turf as this is one soft looking group.....much needed drop for this O'Neill three-year old who has spent too much time racing over his head..........pedigree for the grass decent

4  Cats Blame   brutal trip in his last or might have beat much better than he faces today........and in general he is quite good on the SA hill.....but since Conner has been up this gelding has only earned chump change.....Hollendorfer takes the blinkers off but that is a weak stat for him and a recent work is dismal.......claim me please or a ton vs easier if he is healthy........we shall see

5  Zippy Groom   Zippy is likely feeling awfully good for Hess to step up his three-year old for a 2nd straight time.....that and his gelding's lone race down the SA hill fits well in this spot.......Hess won 3 races the other day albeit all with Stevens up

8  R Cha Cha

3  Westwood's Wizard

race 7    below average clarity

3  Sold It   plenty of endurance put into this O'Neill 1st time starter so the 6 1/2 furlongs might not be too taxing for this MSW 1ster.......and the two-year old also shows some hints of having some decent speed in his works

6  Orca   dismal year for the once great (to say the least) Ron McAnally but he sure has this 1st time starter training like he is ready to rock and roll in his MSW debut

1  Enaya Alraab   double barrel action for O'Neill as he also trains out top selection........useful debut for this two-year old with improved drills since....not out of the win picture here by any means

8  Show Hostess

9  Soothing

race 8    average clarity

7  California Journey   talk about a makeover for this Matt Chew four-year old - 1st time racing on the dirt today in start number 8.....and.....1st time racing with the blinkers on.......his a.m. work is vastly better hinting that the equipment has helped in a big way......and his pedigree for the dirt is good

5  Avanti Bello   3 of this gelding's last 4 races fit solidly here and his last two wins came with today's rider Pratt in the irons.......hard not to like

4  Surfing Star   both lifetime races at SA are quite strong 6 1/2 furlong sprints.......1st at a route today and with plenty of endurance put into him by Bruce Headley......believe bug boy Espinoza will send him early and attempt to wire the field.....dangerous sort for sure

2  Plain Wrap

race 9    average clarity

5  Eric the Trojan   the race is loaded with one-dimensional speed types so this late runner who has handled the hill OK in his career should come flying especially with Prat up who really has fit this fellow well multiple times in the past

3  Brandothebartender    another who should benefit from a lively pace up front......that and his recent a.m. work hints he is quite sharp right now......not out of the win picture by any means

7  Calexman   both lifetime endeavors on the majestic Santa Anita hill grass course are better than they appear in print and they don't look too bad in print either.......only rated as low as 3rd pick because his game is speed and there is plenty of that commodity in the race

9  Afeet Ascent

1  Little Juanito
