Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

1  Subic Bay   mare had a tough trip in the 4 October version of this race.......believe she will be sent early by T C Baze sitting 1st or 2nd in a race that seems to favor those that do.......Baze could use a win and might get one here

2  Peach Cove   won the aforementioned 4 October race and did so despite a bit of a wide trip and having to deal with a pedestrian pace up front from the back of the field.......that and most of her career fits very well at the 20K.......Van Dyke wisely stays put

5  Believe Indeed   Just claimed by Pender and I like that he puts up Bejarano who has been getting his mojo back of our top selection look for this five-year old to sit closer.......five year old mare seems likely to be a player today

race 2    average clarity

5  Calf Moon Bay   Hollendorfer is firing on all cylinders and has this youngster training awfully sharp (definitely the best of her life) for her 1st attempt at a route......sprint-sprint-route scenario and for a two-year old filly who is well-bred to take to the two turns

2  Claudelle   two-year old filly has the best credentials in the race and she owns a good pedigree for a route........would have easily been top choice if Sadler wasn't so cold at the fall SA meeting

3  Enaya Alrabb   last sure appeared to be nothing more than a tune-up to gear up and be ready for her 1st at a route which she sure is bred to since her debut support the notion

race 3    average clarity

(Super High Five carryover of $14,210.)

1  Kristi's Copilot   last two 6 1/2 furlong turf races down the majestic Santa Anita hill grass course (run 4 back & 10 back) fit solidly in this recent speed drills should help make the switch back to sprinting following 3 straight route races

2  Cool Green   good history at SA on turf that is rated firm.......1 for 2 in races down the hill......significant rider upgrade.....trainer is 24% win with his last 38 route to sprint.......a superfecta worth of reasons to consider this six year old gelding

5  Blackout   new dangerous trainer in Peter Miller takes over the training duties of this fellow who has raced in numerous locations including once at SA.........and.......for the most part vs. better.........1st and the hill is a ? mark as is the fact he hasn't passed a horse in a very long time

4  R Cha Cha

race 4   above average clarity

2  Awesome Anywhere   red-hot trainer in Hollendorfer and with a gelding who is (4 3 1 0) at SA and just ran his lifetime top 1st out after the Jerry H claim and at today's distance.......and it is very reassuring that he has been able to work twice since his 6 Oct nw alw win

6  El Huerfano   another coming off a strong win (albeit in a dirt route) who hints he has remained in form with a nice 4F work a week ago........that and he ran two strong 2nd place finishes the only two times he has run at today's 6 1/2 panels on the dirt

1  Lookie Loo   bit short on numbers if either of our top picks repeat their latest but then again Mr. Baffert is (18 8 2 1) at the SA Fall meeting.......yikes-o-rama

race 5    average clarity

12  Big Base   exits a key race where she had a wide trip and beat 5 of 8 foes.....but......what really catches my eye is her two works since her last and with the blinkers on (assuming of course they were on for her works).......believe she will be in the mix from the opening bell likely stalking our 2nd pick

11  Come On Kat   somewhat of an alarming drop but if this Baltas three-year old filly is still in relatively good health she sure appears to be the controlling speed.........thus.......very dangerous

6  Crackling Bread   race 2 back fits.......and she appears to be somewhat set up for today's race which is her 2nd out after the Periban mile turf race in her last to muscle her up and help her endurance - 7F dirt today........not out of this but easy to make as the third selection

5  Sweetener

7  Trappiza

race 6    average clarity

4  Magic Musketier   strong race two back cutting back in distance and racing off of short rest.......same scenario today and with recent a.m. works that suggest his last (kind of dead in the betting as well) can be ignored and that he will be up to his "A game" this afternoon

1  East Rand   just claimed by Yakteen who 24% win with his last 2 dozen 1st following a claim runners.........3 of his last 4 races fit and he gets a significant turf rider upgrade for today......such as deal and hard not to like

5  Fight On   another with a significant turf rider upgrade........handled one lifetime turf sprint OK......and handled his lone route race which was on the dirt........mix those two together and it says a turf route should be doable

6  Shadow Sphinx

race 7    average clarity

4  Ransomed   last two racing endeavors fit awfully well in this spot and her latest is disguised by very wide trip in a fast heat vs better where getting beat by 17 lengths and with the bad trip work out for an adjusted for trouble Santucci fig that is still better than par for today's level.......that and one awakening trainer in Belvoir is at the helm

6  Duranga   nice improvement in latest 1st out after the Mulhall claim.......voided claim you say......not to worry too much about that as Mulhall puts her in a protected race suggesting she has her filly feeling OK

7  Sly Humor   unimpressive a.m. preparation for her layoff last on 1 September......better a.m. work since and like our 2nd choice it seems like a good sign that Cerin sees fit to put her in an affair where she can't be claimed.......and she does her best running at SA

5  Princess Dorian

race 8    average clarity

7  Beyond Pleasure   takes that ever magical drop from MSW racing to MC40K for her 1st on the sod which she owns an OK pedigree for.......that and at least 1/2 the field seems to be racing over their respective heads

9  Lucky Knickers   both lifetime turf races are better than par for today's lower level and one of them was down the SA hill.......hard not seeing a major factor in the outcome of this 6 1/2F MC40K affair

1  Second Fiddle   both lifetime races (which were both turf sprints and one of which was run on the hill) peg her as a player.....but.......trainer is cold......rider is cold......they are uncharacteristically only 1 for their last 14 over the last 2 months.......maybe they help each either jump start things here

3  Exes N Ohs

10  Street Congrats
