Santa Anita for Sunday 4 November 2018

Congrats to John Sadler for getting the monkey off of his back and do it in the B C Classic. Very impressive how dignified he was all week with the press interviews about his lack of BC success.

Del Mar opens this Friday for its Fall meeting which seems to be getting better every year. We will be ready!

Best of luck as always!

race 1    above average clarity

8  Tanker   Cerin is waking up and the last two times he rode Talamo over the last couple of months his horses were very live.......drop makes sense as this gelding only went for 30K.....blinkers on and a very sharp recent 3 work series......all systems go

1  Magic Bro   sprint-sprint-route maneuver and for a two-year old that is bred to run all day long on mom's side of the equation.......and she is also bred to handle the sod......should be a big price

4  Carbon Zero   exits a very fast heat where beaten by 18L wasn't too bad of an effort considering today's lower level........away sine the 22 August dirt route but training better than he did prior to that race........jock upgrade.........bred OK for the lawn

7  Thin Line

11  Samurai Jack      SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE

race 2    above average clarity

2  Serve Me A Double   broke a little tardy and then wide on a rail bias day at SA on 20 October hiding the strength of his latest........OK pedigree to handle his 1st dirt route......should be on or near the lead from the get go.......trainer has had a solid meeting and might add to his 19% win total here

7  Rak City   solid race the lone time this gelding got to run turf to dirt like he is doing this afternoon........and like our top choice he can get good up close position early

1  Spend It   very consistent but likes to hang thus 10 for 21 on the board but still a maiden.......should be motoring late.......not impossible but obviously more likely to run 2nd or 3rd than 1st

6  Blaze of Glory

5  Odyssey Explorer

race 3    average clarity

3  Princess Leia   the 1 1/16 distance should be a plus for her and for many in here the extra 1/16th will hurt their chances........that and she just worked one of her better drills in some time and it is subtle

6  Princess Kendra   very consistent when Fuentes has been on her back and gets to face easier today.......two small negatives made her our 2nd selection:  extra 1/2 furlong will hurt a little.......trainer who is having a good year has been a little chilly lately

2  Ipray   3 of her last 5 races all of which were at one mile fit fine here.......and like our top pick the extra 1/16th to travel appears to be a positive for her

race 4    average clarity

1  Vasilika   (7 6 1 0) on the SA sod and the only loss came on a course rated good.........6 for 6 with top jock Prat up and he has a decent post to work with......that and there is plenty of early speed in this race to flatter her already dynamite late run

7  Lull   rider upgrade to Rosario who is riding terrific right now and it showed at the Breeders Cup and he can add to his fab. weekend with this invader who might get 1st crack at our 3rd selection who should be on the lead......very dangerous Clement shipper

8  Fahan Mura   if Smith, Stevens and Rosario don't go hard early so as not to burn themselves out this very sharp filly might wire the field as she has done in 6 of her last 8 races ........all since the change in trainers to Cerin

3  Cambodia

race 5    below average clarity

3  Mayan Warrior   exits a fast heat where he had about 4L of trip trouble (bobbled rather badly and was climbing down the back stretch some) and earned a Santucci fig that was about 3L better than par for today's lower level

6  Mo Dinero   gets the "The Full Monty" here as he drops - runs 1st time as a gelding - and also gets the blinkers on for the 1st time......recent works suggest it has made him a better runner......we shall see

11  Diamond Blitz   overall record for Keith Desormeaux with MC 1st time starters is poor but he has been better with MSW 1st timers of late.......and......the morning work put in by this two-year old is too good to ignore

1  Irish Polo

2  Runningwscissors

8  Violent Behavior

race 6    average clarity

3  Perfectly Majestic   vastly improved in his latest 1st time racing in the Miller barn (what's new?) and the strength of the race is disguised by a slightly tardy start and wide trip.......that and about one half of his races down the SA hill fit fine and that was without Mr Miller training.......so logically speaking you would think he would be up to one of those top efforts or more today

1  Tiz a Billy   best by far racing on the majestic SA hill grass course and he has a decent shot at getting what he needs as in a loose lead

9  My Man Chuckles   2 for 2 in races down the hill since Baltas took over the training duties......that and this gelding is usually at his best with ample time between starts and gets it today........and the fact Rosario wants the mount supports the idea he is ready for a strong race

10  Castle

2  Placido

race 7    above average clarity

11  For the Hustle  looks loose in this race just as he was in his latest.......and........if he runs to his recent works he should be extremely difficult to real in with a decent speed rider up in Maldonado and 1/2 furlong less to cover

8  Pastorelli   nice wake up in his 2nd lifetime start.......away since that 23 August race but has put in 7 works since......and once again Baltas gets Rosario to ride........move forward seems likely.....combine that with a one notch MC drop and you have a major player in this sot

6  Powerful Thirst

10  Supreme Giant

1  Flynn   SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE

14  Conversate

race 8    below average clarity

3  Majestic Eagle   three-year old likes the 9F distance and is 1 for 1 with Mike Smith up........and.......as the year goes on Drysdale just keeps getting more prolific and the 30th of Oct 6F work for this colt (vastly improved from what he has been working) hints he might up his win % once again here

4  Kazan   sharp in the a.m. and a better post to work with for Garcia (10 post at one mile in his last) who had this gelding too wide in his latest or he could have won a Grade 2 at Dmr.......should be flying late

8  River Boyne    hard to ignore a perfect 4 for 4 on the SA grass and Prat being up for all 4.....but careful as his 3 races at he has run at 9F are a little short number wise and it showed running 3rd at even money with a good trip in the aforementioned Grade 2 at Dmr

1  Have At It

2  Prime Earl

race 9    average clarity

4  Pleasant d'Oro   break out race in latest and it was his 1st ever dirt route at SA.....and his 5F drill at SA since hints he has never been better.......Prat and his agent see fit to stick with the Callaghan colt

1  Violent Ridge   much better a.m. work in preparation for today's race than before his last few racing endeavors........that and he sure is best on the SA main track with 2 wins and 2 2nd's in 4 starts.....rather sure this price shot is going to make a good account of himself

3  Jungle Warfare   sprint-sprint-route maneuver from Hollendorfer here........and this fellow ran his eyeballs out to salvage 3rd as he caught very wide up on the pace........this race is loaded and he definitely appears to be one of the horses to reckon with

2  Lord Guinness

8  Kylemore   (Baltas & Rosario again - how did they fare in the 6th & 7th ?)

race 10    below average clarity

9  Knight's Cross   improving and his improvement doesn't show on paper..........training better and look who shows up on his back today........Prat who is so very good with two-year old developing grass horses

3  Weekly Call   decent 1st on the lawn in his last and retains Bejarano who sure is coming on strong amazingly with a shot to take down the SA riding title.......and a good part of his success has been with trainer Doug O'Neill........good post.....tactical speed.....should get a good trip

5  Speakerofthehouse   might have surprised the barn a bit as he ran awfully well considering he went off at 75 to 1..........might not have been all that cranked up......if that is true lookout today in his 2nd start

2  Neptune's Storm

10  Northwestern

4  Farquhar
