Seems like a fairly decent card this afternoon..

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

6  Goseecal   last win came off of 3 months rest and was in a conditioned claiming race for 40K.........5 months rest today and running in a 35K nw3 affair.....only race run in 2018 at one mile on firm turf is very solid for today's level and hidden in it's strength......rather sure she is meant and ready

5  Quinnie   race lacks speed and this filly has some.......and the two times that Bejarano has sent her near the lead in a one mile grass race she ran 1st and 2nd........seems like a great spot

1  Mraseel   believe this filly is quite hidden with her ability to handle one mile of turf........weak number in last because of a snail's pace that made for a slow final time.......only other one mile was 4 back where she broke poorly and ran somewhat wide earning an adjusted for trouble Santucci fig that is about 3L better than par.......and the jock brings home price-shots quite often

2  Halo Darlin

race 2    above average clarity

4  Mantaray Island   appears that O'Neill has picked up a nice new colt who ran 2nd in his MSW debut at GP where he showed stellar early pace and still managed to stick around for 2nd.........away since the September race but trainer likely has ready.........speed jock up who has won two of his last three riding for O'Neill who happens to be tied for the most wins at the SA meeting

2  Victory Element   Baffert colt who has two 2nd's with two lifetime starts has been absent since May but shows a work regiment that spells ready........he ran a strong race in his debut not graduating because of a bad trip where he raced too wide

6  Candy Cornell   needs his MSW debut which is solid here but run at Del Mar at 6F........his two races at SA are about 5L less than the Dmr race but were run at 7F & 6 1/ it the distance or the SA dirt that made for those 5 lengths......might get the answer today

race 3    below average clarity

6  Soothing   ran 2nd in her MSW sprint debut but the time was a little dull ........but .........on the order hand 3rd place came back to win her next.......and the works since her debut on 14 Oct are improved and the kind that should prepare her for the challenge of coping with the 8F distance

3  Show Hostess   rather decent 1st at a route 4 weeks ago at Lrc.......should benefit endurance wise from the 2nd place finish.....trainer and the rider are both a little chilly but can help each other out here

1  Slewgoodtobetrue   both lifetime races are strong and easily would have been top selection if this was a sprint race........not too crazy about her pedigree to run as well at a route.....still she seems quite dangerous especially with Smith remaining up

5  Bev's Humor

race 4    above average clarity

1  Girl Downstairs   1st out after the Miller claim and I like that he gives his new shooter 2 months off as this mare is very consistent with 8 weeks or more between starts.........Prat rides thru the claim.......filly has been in the exacta 6 of 10 races on the turf at the distance........should be tough

3  Miss Boom Boom   most of her career fits well in this spot and her trainer is red-hot especially with his turf stock.......rider upgrade........mare has been in the exacta 8 of 12 on the turf at the distance

5  Indypendent Deputy   rather consistent on firm turf racing at 7 1/2F or one mile......still she will likely need her best ever to take down this race as our top two appear awfully strong

4  War Moccasin

8  Award It

race 5    average clarity

3  Drink   blinkers on and just what you want to see as in a vastly improved workout........went off 16 to 1 in his MSW debut which hints the race was a gimme which makes the ever dangerous drop from MSW to MC even more dangerous than it usually is and that is saying something.......trainer is (3 2 1 0) to start the meeting and we liked all three of like runners

6  Resident Liberal   so so works in town for this Proctor 1st time starter........solid works out of town.......maybe the connections did not want to show too much since arriving in S Cal to avoid being claimed?......we shall find out about 2:30 pacific today

2  Nice Work   similar scenario for our top selection as this Sadler colt went off at high odds in his MSW debut hinting that the race was a gimme which makes the drop from MSW to MC even more dangerous than it usually is........and like our top pick we get a rider upgrade

7  Dyf

8  Ohtani

race 6    average clarity

2  Sheza Chattykat   good history at 6 1/2 furlongs on the dirt and showed plenty of life in both of her sprint grass races at 5F.......that bodes well for her chances of running well at 6 1/2 down the hill.......should get a good up close position saving ground and with top turf jock Prat at the controls

8  Silken Spy   seems likely to snatch one of the top 3 positions in the race that seemingly favors those sitting close to the front early.......latest looks like a dirty her up gimme in a protected race to put some doubt into the minds of the claiming vultures lurking over head

5  Saburai   better on the SA hill grass course than her (4 1 0 0) record indicates.......seems long overdue for this drop into claiming........Cerin is 23% "1st time in claiming"........dangerous sort

4  Favorite Trip

7  Florista

race 7    average clarity

3  Kochees   nine-year old just keeps stepping up and competing at a high level.....steps up again and with a sharp work tab showing.......and quite the fit with Mario Gutierrez (5 3 2 0)........should be on or close to the front from the get go

4  Allaboutaction   by far at his best at SA (6 4 2 0) on the dirt.......and not too shabby at the distance overall (18 6 4 2).....over his head in last.......drops back to a level he fits well

5  Italiano   double barrel action for Hollendorfer as he also trains our top selection.......away since 11 Nov. but training as if he is returning to race wars fully fit and ready to roll.......good gate horse should be in the hunt from the opening bell

8  Market Sentiment

7  K Thirty Eight

race 8    above average clarity

4  S Y Sky  stands out in this spot especially racing at 6 1/2 furlongs at SA which appears to be a good fit......won her debut at the distance in a $200K Stakes on the SA dirt........the only other time she raced at 6 1/2 was down the hill and she also won that........jock knows her inside out having been up for all of her 7 lifetime starts

5  Show It N Moe It   seems like the best of the mid pack runners and quite a few of her races are better than appear in print including her latest where she faced our top pick

6  Barbara Beatrice   seems good off of layoffs and maybe the longer the layoff the better........8 months since her last.......should be motoring late

race 9    average clarity

3  Smoovie   nice 1st on the SA hill grass course in latest and the strength of the effort is disguised by wide trip up close to the pace........trainer is hot but the rider is not......but he has had a great relationship with the trainer over the years......filly has been away since 2 Nov but she just popped a best of 58 gate drill on the last day of 2018 indicating she is fit and ready

10  Into Rissa   one of three lifetime turf routes fits solidly here and this filly seems better suited to sprint her 1st down the hill has the potential to produce a very competitive race if she is up to a top effort........her work tab sure suggests that she is

5  Oh Pretty Woman   laid up filly has run well fresh in the past.......away since August so she is plenty "fresh" today.........Drayden Van Dyke stays aboard for a 4th straight time.......should be closing late

6  Radish

4  Smiling Annie
