Santa Anita for Friday 15 February 2019

Super High Five carryover of $8,849 for race three.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

4  Gold Arrow   this Hollendorfer filly was our top choice in her MSW debut and she ran too well to lose.......broke poorly and ran too wide.......she did well to grab a 1 1/2 length 2nd.......bred to love a route.........Rosario will be out to make amends

5  Scattering Mink   ran 1/2 length behind our top selection showing plenty of life following a slightly tardy start........very impressive 59:1 H work since........solid route pedigree........trainer is having a strong SA meeting to date and R Mandella has a shot to add to his 24% win total here

2  Waze Ready  Leonard Powell four-year old is proven on a sloppy track where the top two are not........but I am a bit leery that her two solid main track races were run turf to dirt and that is not the case today.......so......placed as our 3rd pick

race 2    average clarity

2  Friday's At Shady   colt lost about 10 lengths in his MC20K debut and still nearly won (broke 4 slow and ran wide on a slight rail bias)........same horse with a better trip should make this colt tough to overcome if he handles a track with some moisture in it (most likely)

1  Contagion   total lack of speed in the race and this colt might have as much as anyone if he can break well from a difficult post......like our top choice he also had a tough trip in his debut (ran 3 1/4 behind our top choice)........he earned 7 1/2 lengths of trip trouble but at least he broke well

4  Hard to Come Home   new apprentice rider looks good so far and might have enough gas to grab the lead.......and with the 7 lbs weight break he might be tough to wheel in

race 3    average clarity

(selections are for off the turf)

5  Princess Lea   2 for 2 on an off track and likely entered with today's forecast in mind hoping the race would be yanked off the grass.........big fig in last

1  Atina   strong race on an off track in Argentina winning easy at 6 to 1..........nice turf race at SA 19 days ago.......Drysdale likes what he sees so he gets his mare out of the claiming ranks........upside potential

2  Madaket   would have been top pick if this race stayed on the grass.......only lifetime dirt race which was run in her debut isn't as bad as it appears in print........pedigree for an off track is average at best

3  Foxtail

race 4    average clarity

3  Purdue   lifetime best and a solid fit here was run in her 2nd lifetime start........so........2nd out after a long layoff likely will lead to another strong race.......jock upgrade and with a weight break.......hard not to like

1  Sweetener   nice wake-up in her latest off of a 3 month break.......the catalyst for it appears to be "1st time blinkers"..........last can do the trick and if she moves forward maybe she should have been made top pick-a-rue

4  Crackling Bread   very consistent sort and she just put in a solid 4F drill since her 25 Jan race........but........she sure appears to be a hanger........on the other hand with the blinkers go on today she might have enough speed to grab the lead and not have anyone to hang on

5  Factorize

race 5    average clarity

(selections are for off the turf)

4  Enlisting   101 to 1 and then 64 to 1 to start her career in two lifetime MSW grass races suggests that was to muscle her up and be fully ready for her 1st in a MC......and the rider change from a jock who has struggled in S Cal to Mr Prat supports the notion that today is a full-blown "go go go"........OK dirt pedigree

3  Lil Respect   another totally dead on the board in her turf MSW debut where visually it also appears to be nothing more that a tune-up......she might be muscled up and ready for today's route........another with an OK dirt pedigree

7  American Falls   just fired lifetime best in her latest which was her 1st to date on an off track (rated good).......still she likely needs more today and might provide it as the only time she raced off of short rest like today she moved forward

1  Lily Con

9  Sapori Girl

race 6    average clarity

3  R Cha Cha   connections might not be doing the Cha Cha but they likely will be doing a rain dance as this gelding moves up on an off track......not only shows better final time figs but also shows better early speed........(5 2 2 1) since blinkers went on........such a deal

6  Beantown Boys   moves up on off tracks (and decent on fast tracks) and he just won the route version of this 25K claiming race only 12 days ago.......mostly a route horse but he showed he can handle a one turn sprint with a big effort two races back at Lrc......the only negative I see is if he can handle such short race especially off of a 1 1/16th race

2  Conquest Cobra   strong move forward in latest and the strength of the move is disguised by racing 3 wide but doing so on a rail bias......like his chances if the track is rated fast or close to it as so far he has only raced so so on off tracks

5  Conqueror

race 7    below average clarity

(selections are for off the turf)

8  Shylock Eddie   Aaron Gryder for the most part has been given live mounts from Brian Koriner and I think he gets another here as the two speed drills since this girl's latest are vastly improved hinting her trainer has tweaked something for the better.....we shall see

9  Chasin Lucas   seems like a good time for 1st time blinkers as this Glatt filly already has some early speed and with the addition of the blinkers she might have even more and in a race that doesn't have that much

5  Great Ma Neri   lead should go to this filly or our 2nd selection and if the track is good or muddy she likely has a better shot of getting it

6  Donut Girl

4  Judicial

race 8    below average clarity

5  Lindante   both lifetime off track races run on the SA surface fit solidly in this spot......that and I like the sprint to route move for this Gary Stute eight year old

6  I'll Wrap It Up   sprint-sprint-route scenario for this Miyadi gelding who has handled off tracks in the past.......7 lbs apprentice Jose Leon hopefully has some "off track" riding experience

4  Crystal Dome   looks like a bad claim bad hopefully there is some "horse left" and if there is this gelding should fit with today's 2 claiming level drop......latest which was on an off track is better than it appears in print

2  Zestful
