Los Alamitos for Friday 6 September 2019

I like the opening day card at Los Alamitos and also Sunday's card.

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

6  Kenyetta   Ed Freedom sends out very few MC 1st time starters but when he has they have been fairly "live".........last preparatory work indicates this filly is peaking at the right time and the 5F drill at Del Mar was just 5 days ago

1  Billy'sgotasingle   80 to 1 MSW debut for a Cerin first starter says tune-up city.......should be all set facing easier today in start no. 2.........and we get one solid rider upgrade.......hard not to like

2  Phoenix Tears   two year old filly has always trained very well and not done much when it counts the most as in the afternoon........seems like a "morning glory" and many a morning glory wake-up significantly when they get loos on the lead........and she might get a loose lead here

race 2    average clarity

6  Topaz Time   2 for 2 at Lrc........2 for 3 at the distance......but most of all she seems highly likely to get loose on the lead and with one solid dirt route jock in Fuentes

1 Indypendent Deputy   six year old mare has earned only 13.5K this year racing in bottom level route turf races in S Cal......since she can't do any better than a handle of small checks the connections have to switch to the dirt where she can run much lower.......she's not much on the dirt but enough to fit in an 8K

5  Cee Sam's Girl   seems to be slowly improving of late and if that can continue this afternoon this filly might have a shot here.......good to see that Abel Cedillo (who I hope rides at Santa Anita) sticks around

race 3    average clarity

7  Never Think Twice   trainer is dynamite with young MC 1st time starters and his debut runner sure is out training anyone in this field.......and he seems to have plenty of early gas to keep out of trouble ........especially so with a rider who has been doing quite well  in 2019

2  Vastly Deep    like that the last 3 preparatory works are out of the gate........and the last on 31 Aug. is awfully strong especially for the likes of Miyadi who usually doesn't push them very hard in the mornings

1  Carpe Noctem   no support at the windows suggests that his 100K MC debut was a tune-up........drops 70K in MC today.......we likely will see what he's got this afternoon

5  Heraclitus

race 4    average clarity

2  Young Hendrick   very strong 109:2 six furlongs in his lone race at Lrc on the 4th of July.........ran the race off of 40 days rest following a 5F grass race.........5F grass race 42 days ago.......5 1/2 furlongs of dirt today......and 5 1/2F seems like a better fit than 6F.........such a deal

5  Policy   totally dead on the board in his layoff last after being bet hard and running well in his previous two lifetime races both in summer 2018........that and the fact Fuentes stays put gives credence to the idea that this is the old gimme/go scenario

3  Short of Ez   turf tightener at Dmr in his latest which was run off of a 5 1/2 month layoff........the tightener makes total sense as this gelding is 2 for 2 at Lrc........five year old is capable of winning on or off of the pace so the jock has options

race 5    below average clarity

6  Mo Hawk   expensive well-bred colt is working brilliantly for Baffert and company and makes his two year MSW debut at Lrc where things get a little easier in the MSW ranks than Dmr........hard not to place as the top pick-a-rue

5  Prince Magician   very strong works for a Palma MSW 1st timer as the crafty trainer usually doesn't push them that hard in the a.m.........mom has tossed 5 winners from 5 starters.......and the fact that Palma legs up one of his go to guys in Eswan Flores suggests this 1ster is "live" today

4  Moon Mischief   another MSW 1ster training as if he is fit and ready for his debut into the wonderful world of thoroughbred racing.......Sadler has been on quite a roll with his non-claiming stock this summer as witnessed by his leading total in earnings at Del Mar

race 6    below average clarity

3  Ps Bettin On You   SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE  handles Lrc rather decently where he has won 2 of his last 3 over a 10 race period.......the efforts were at 5 1/2F and 5F should fit him better........race 2 back at Lrc is better than it appears in print as he raced inside on a somewhat dull rail and it caused him to tire

5  Love Your Life   on the improve since Lorenzo Ruiz claimed 3 races back.......yet to win at Lrc but he does like the track (8 0 4 3)........might get that elusive win here if he manages to move forward again

4  Tiz Love   best at Lrc and also at his best in abbreviated sprints races........should be flying late and as the best "closer" in the field

6  Boy Howdy

race 7    average clarity

3  McKale   both lifetime races at Lrc peg this Baffert gelding as the one to beat and especially his race on 6 July which was at today's six panels........and overall he is 2 for 3 at 6F with his miss a quick pace duel where he was stuck on a dull rail condition at Dmr and predictably tired.........hard not to like

1  Seven Scents    good history racing at Lrc and seems very ready off of a seven week break which you would anticipate considering how well he ran in its unusual configuration......should be in the mix from the get go

2  Spokane Eagle   claim back by Doug O'Neill is in good form but likely needs a little bit of that "O'Neill" magic this afternoon as the waters get deeper today......back in only 6 days rest but Doug is one of the better trainer's with ridiculously quick turnarounds

race 8    above average clarity

8  An Ocala Ten   just claimed by Rosemary Trela who does quite well with limited starters.....and she is 7 for her last 12 1st following a claim with 3 others hitting the board........all that and her new shooter is 3 for 5 "at the distance"

7  Sokudo   dangerous outside speed here and for a small circuit trainer who is 35% win and 71% in the money with 37 2019 starts.......and this six year old won his lone start at Lrc albeit at 5 furlongs.......dangerous sort

5  Royal Seeker   seems like the best of of the off pace runners in this field.......and by far at his best at Lrc.........connections will have their fingers crossed that our top two choices will both go hard for the lead and duel

3  Kenny Benny

2  Rmanie's Grey Suit
