Del Mar for Sunday 17 November 2019

Feel as if this is a good card today as you can tell by the "clarity ratings".

Best of luck as always!

race 1    average clarity

1  Secret Maneuver   nice improvement for this filly 1st out the following the Milton Pineda claim........rather consistent closer and there is enough speed signed up in this 6 1/2 furlong affair to help her cause

7  Diamond of Value   mare is in an every other mode and is on the right end of the pendulum........that and her lifetime best was her only race at 6 1/2F at Del Mar.......would have been top choice if it wasn't for a rider change that I'm not too crazy about for a multiple of reasons

2  Bellazano   easily the best rider of the 4 given selections for this race........decent history for this filly racing off of short rest with Shelbe Ruis as the trainer........3 weeks off since her latest qualifies for that

5  Darpa

race 2    above average clarity

1  Lighthouse   showed tremendous early speed despite breaking one slow in her MSW debut which was also at 5F on the turf but at Santa Anita......and her final time was solid.........easy to put on top

8  She's So Special   bad trip in a very fast heat hides a par like effort way back in July for this two year old filly.........good grass pedigree and an excellent trainer with grass sprinters in Peter Miller

5  Carpe Vinum   good looking prolonged work regiment for this D'Amato MSW 1st time starter.......good grass rider in Cedillo gets the call.......he and the D'A are 3 for there last 9 as a team

4  Nu Pi Lambda

6  Quiet Secretary

race 3    average clarity

2  Eddie's Sister   solid work tab for this 1ster and he draws the attention of Prat and his has tossed 5 winners from 5 starters one of which was a Grade 2 Stakes winner.......and this seems like a great spot for a newcomer as the field seems weak

3  Elgofranco   nothing special about this two year old's debut run but this is a spot where she likely doesn't have to do much more than her 4 over par race 2nd..........if..........of course..........the two 1st timers in the field don't do much

4  Jodie Faster   another with a 2nd place finish in their MSW debut despite running a time that was quite a bit short of par.......maybe sprint-route-sprint (and turf to dirt) maneuver can get more out of this girl's 3rd lifetime start

7  Lucky Long Legs

race 4    average clarity

3  Murad Khan   6 for 11 at the distance on the turf and 2 for 2 at Del Mar........seems like a good claim by Miller (30% 1st out after a claim with a large sampling).......but can he pull off getting another strong effort out of this gelding off of only 7 days rest.......we shall see about 3 1/2 hours before the Bears and Rams kickoff

6  Foray  filly is (6 4 1 0) when loose on the lead and there is a very good chance she can grab a loose lead here......and with a good front riding turf rider in T C Baze up........and over the last 2 months Baze/Sadler own 2 wins and a 2nd with 4 runners as a team

5  The Hunted   Baltas late runner is best at today's one mile turf distance and it appears the trainer knows that now.......3 wins and a 2nd in his last 4 turf starts at one mile dating back to 27 October

race 5    below average clarity

1  Time for Suzzie  SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE  last is decent but what we want is her very strong race 3 back which was at Der Mar where she overcame a bad trip to win and fire her lifetime best adjusted Santucci fig.......and considering Cerin has been unconscious to start the Del Mar fall meeting (5 4 1 0) she might provide it

5  Busy Paytner   Pereira is 2 for 2 riding this Koriner filly in 6 furlong races winning by 7L & 3 1/4L......three year old might have to duel with the 3 horse especially with Maldonado riding her but Pereria won the two 6F races dueling in decent pace

6  Nomizar   claimed by Ryan Hanson 6 weeks ago and during that time he sure has put some nice works into his new shooter with the blinkers off........filly seems likely to get a nice stalk position........lifetime best number was her only race at Del Mar at today's 6F distance

7  Portal Creek

race 6    above average clarity

6  Madame Bourbon   hard to get a better spot for this two year old GP invading filly who is on the improve which each and every turf race and was able to step way up in her latest and still run 2nd in a $75K Stakes race at GP with a gap to 9L to 3rd........Prat and his agent wisely grab this mount

1  Freedom Ride   SCRATCHED OUT OF THE RACE never sharper and now she tackles two new challenges........1st at a route and 1st on the green........stats suggest OK on the route and more than OK on the turf

2  Mosienko   invading N Y bred is up for the optional 50K so my guess is she is ready to roll and if she wins this race she is still eligible for the same condition once again and protected.......risky but a move I would have made when I owned horses

7  Peaches and Nuts

3  Teachers Big Dream

race 7    above average clarity

5  Mo See Cal   back to reality after being placed way over her head in her latest........race two back would crush there........race three back which was run at Dmr and at today's 7F would be tough but not necessarily unbeatable.......either way she's top choice

1  Show It N Moe It   after a dull race two back she rebounded in her latest endeavor and that race if she can repeat it would give her a shot here as a mid pack runner.......but a repeat of the race is questionable as she has not run back to back strong races for quite some time

7  Queen Bee to You   last two wins are turf to dirt which is today's scenario for this five year old mare from the Lerner barn.......jock upgrade to Prat.......very consistent as in the money 14 of 16........should once again make a good account of herself

race 8   below average clarity

1  Lydia O Lydia   21 to 1 in her MSW debut at GG hints the sprint race was a tune-up and a very good one at that........and she is bred to love a turf route.......went for only 6K at sale as a yearling.......hoping after today's race that will classify as a "steal"

7  Scarlet Heat   bet to favorite in both of her lifetime races last winter which were sprints down the hill.....debut was decent and her 2nd out was much better than decent and disguised in it's strength by a brutal trip......good route turf pedigree......1st time her chances if she is ready to roll of off the extended hiatus from the game

3  Hot Magistrate   strong 5 1/2 furlong turf sprint off of a one year layoff.........owns plenty of early speed and retains the 5 lbs bug boy Diaz who is improving.......rail's at 30 feet.......good chance to open up a loose lead and if she does she might be tough to wheel in

5  Lady Ember

4  Love Not War
